Saw a car online and enquired about the vehicle and placed a DEPOSIT. As soon as the deposit was paid - the sales manager wanted half the value of the car. No point was that ever mentioned prior to placing deposit that half the value of the car I had not seen needed paying as well! I explained I was going away overseas and whilst away I received emails demanding payment and I responded to say I will be in contact on my return. On my return I withdrew from the purchase and I was told I would get my deposit refunded only to be emailed the following day to say no it won’t be returned and has been forfeited. I explained my legal rights and consulted the motoring ombudsman and slaughter and Gordon solicitors along with Irwin Mitchell solicitors. This garage is not part of the motoring ombudsman and declined to return my deposit and on my next call neither the salesman I initially spoke to or sales manager took my call and instead I was put to another person who flatly denied my legal rights as I explained them to him! I informed citizens advice bureau who in turn informed trading standards! I also had brilliant help from HSBC who put my case to Visa and my Dispute was successful and I received my £2000 back into my account.
