I had the misfortune of buying a car from Landmark Cars Classics in August of 2021. After driving 20 or so miles the engine light came on. Following an independent check we found a dead cat converter and an engine with destructive bore-score. ( Appeared as though the mmt system light had been reset at some point) I immediately returned the car for a full refund (£13,000-£15000 required to make the car safe) as per the Consumer rights act 2015. I was told by Mr Brodie they would never refund. Then came two years getting a judgement where my claim was upheld and County Court Judgement was issued in Reading. Claim 256MC319 16 June 2023 Garth Young Vs Landmark Cars Classics/ Mr James Brodie. This is a public document at the Court. Landmark still refused to refund and meanwhile the car is languishing in a paddock where it has been for two years. We then obtain a supreme court writ and engage bailiffs. However the director then has all cars and assets behind locked gates on a farm so even to view is by invitation. The Bailiffs cannot ask to see a car and then seize as that is entrapment apparently. This company has clearly set up this way to take money and not repay when things go awry. I am amazed that they are still trading - if people want to look all this is now part of the public record. In addition I see now (I should have checked earlier) that the director has has had many companies littered with show cause for compulsory strike-off at Companies house - also a matter of public record. How can these people be allowed top continue like this?
