If you take your car here for any kind of service, make sure you fit it with a hidden spy cam. Sytner Audi Nottingham and Sytner Audi Derby are infamous and have a reputation for slashing the inner tyre wall of your tyres to expose the metal tyre binding (MOT failure). They do this cowboy fraudulent criminal damage to your car in an attempt to extract further work and money with replacement tyres. In 2017 I took my Audi A5 2.7 (UK Reg HG57 MDX) to be serviced. The service on my vehicle was to have the automatic gearbox oil changed only. Audi Nottingham chauffeured me into Nottingham town centre while the work was being done. After a few hours Audi Nottingham rang me to confirm the work was done. But they also informed me, that during their routine courtesy vehicle inspection, they had noticed one of my front tyres was slightly slashed on the inner tyre wall and the tyre metal binding was exposed, but the tyre was still inflated okay. But this would be an MOT failure. I of course instructed them to put some new tyres on also. I had all four changed. The total service bill was over £800. I had only budgeted around £250-350 for the gearbox oil change. I had my car regularly serviced at independent garages thereafter and following many miles and about 2 years later I had my tyres changed again due to normal wear and tear. Just a few months after having my tyres replaced at the independent garage, I took my car to Audi Derby, another Sytner Audi dealership. I took my car there to have them diagnose an issue with the air conditioning system as it had stopped working. They gave me a courtesy car and I drove home. A few hours later Audi Derby rang me to confirm what the issue could be and what was needed. But much like Nottingham Audi 2 years prior, they also informed me, that during their routine courtesy vehicle inspection, they had noticed one of my front tyres was slightly slashed on the inner tyre wall and the tyre metal binding was exposed, but the tyre was still inflated okay. Again, this would be an MOT failure! This immediately aroused my suspicions as the tyres had been changed at an independent garage recently and were only a few months old. I was also highly suspicious of fraudulent and cowboy activity given that exactly the same slashed tyre fault had occurred again at another Sytner Audi dealership. I got my car and drove it home and inspected it myself. Just like the video inspection that Nottingham Audi had shown my 2 years prior, the slash was in exactly the same place on the inner tyre wall. It is impossible for this sort of damage to an inner tyre wall to naturally occur. I had expensive alloy wheels and I drove my car with upmost care and attention to ensure the wheels were never damaged. I have further investigated through local spotted groups on facebook, that other people have experienced exactly the same ‘problem’ when taking their Audi to either Audi Nottingham and Audi Derby! I changed the tyres myself, after having them for only a few months at the same independent garage as before and they also informed me, due to the neat slash and the locality of it on the tyre, the damage on both occasions was likely done with a knife. It is my firm belief that Sytner Audi Nottingham and Sytner Audi Derby are purposely slashing and damaging customers’ tyres in order to extract further work and money out of the customer for replacements. In total I have been out of pocket by circa £1200 on X3 lots of tyre replacements
