Waste of time and rude
Started out well over the phone. Managed to book a viewing and test drive over the phone a week prior, which meant changing work schedules for my wife and I. Arrived at the dealership, and it was clear that we weren't expected. Didn't do introductions, didn't get up to greet or even come to see the car with us, just handed us keys. The car looked great! freshly washed and waxed and we were smitten. The last thing to check was the drive. Upon asking to go for a test drive with the dealer, we were told "No test drives until you agree a deal".. followed on by "...The car drives good." .. Right. because you have no ulterior motives whatsoever, understood. I mean who on earth doesn't test drive a used car. Then was asked how much I was prepared to pay (I had the full amount ready, but you negotiate as with any sale), was told my offer was unacceptable and they would only accept £200 lower on the asking price on a £32K Car.. Fine. If I had test driven it, I probably would have just paid (now this car is listed 2k cheaper ….) . What was incredibly brazen was the push to A) put my current car up for Part X, and B) accept his honest word that the car drives fine so no need to test drive it, all BEFORE I even test drove the car or even discussed other options. Thankfully my wife and I had viewed, and test drove the same car but a faster version (Sport version) at a different dealership, for a bit higher than this car. In that instant, we appreciated what a real dealer should do and bought from them instead. The Irony of this all is I would have paid on the spot for it, had i had test driven the car.
