Very expensive and negative experience
Review for Vans Direct Southern. I purchased a van from vans direct based on them being a reputable company, however unfortunately this has been a very negative experience for a number of reasons. - The van I purchased began to make a noise shortly after purchasing it, when I contacted vans direct to sort it out they were sceptical of the issues I had raised and collected the van to take back to Southampton. - The garage vans direct had used to complete repairs to the van had not been done correctly which left me back at square one with the same issue. I had to source a local garage to carry out the repairs properly. - The van was advertised as having a new MOT, Full service history and a new cam belt. - On further inspection the van had far from a complete service history with a number of jobs outstanding. - I later found out the MOT was due 5 months after I purchased it. Van direct said that it had a new MOT when they came into possession of the van which is misleading. - The van then failed its MOT which cost me £500. - A mechanic inspected the water pump and cam belt and confirmed that this was not new. When I asked Vans Direct about this they said that because there was an * next to the new cam belt advertised this meant that it would only have been done if it was needed. Very misleading. - I asked if they had any record of when the cam belt had last been done and they said that they did not and I should have been given a folder with the paper work from the van. I confirmed again that I did not receive this. - The cam belt and water pump will now cost a further £350. I went with a reputable garage to ensure that I would be looked after as a consumer. Sadly, I would not recommend Vans Direct to another consumer based on my incredibly negative and costly experience.
