*** AVOID AVOID AVOID *** TDLR: Pressure Selling customer services during sale, but the warranty and assurances given at sale are worthless if something does go wrong. Honda Civic Gearboxes are expected to fail in less than 50,000 miles, and you’re no safer buying from a main dealership than a random guy on auto-trader. Bought a used car in December 2019. Discussed worries after some previous misfortune with second hand cars and SPECIFICALLY the gearbox failing and was reassured that the dealership had looked after the car since new and that at 43500 miles on the clock there was a long time before any sort of wear and tear would show up on the vehicle. The Honda used car warranty was however the main selling point, and the reason I agreed to spend above my budget by buying from a ‘trustworthy’ main dealership. This did include ensuring I got a Honda service after around 8 months to maintain its validity. In retrospect I was pulled in by the pressure selling tactics – “You are much safer buying from a main dealership”, “This model is really hard to find and we’ve looked after it since new”, “The warranty is really good and at this milage you’ll never need to use it”, “Well we haven’t had it that long, let me just go sit in the managers office for 5 minutes to make you think we’re discussing how much we can afford to knock-off the price”. Paid way more than I should have because I THOUGHT I could trust a main-dealership. 6000 miles of use, the clock under 50,000 and the gearbox has completely failed. This has been written off as ‘wear and tear’ despite the clutch being fine and so the warranty (and the service package I paid for to keep it valid) are completely worthless regardless of the reassurances at sale. You are taking as much risk buying used from vertu Honda Lincoln as the dodgy auto-trader guy who sells used cars from street corners. **More important information for anyone considering purchasing a Honda vehicle, it is completely expected wear and tear for a Honda Civic gearbox to fail in less than 50,000 miles. ** *** AVOID AVOID AVOID ***
