Don’t leave a deposit

I live over 100 miles away. Saw a car I wanted to purchase and gave £200 deposit and was due to come over later in the week hopefully to pick it up. Unfortunately due to a major personal problem, I was unable to go. Thinking my deposit was refundable I asked for it to be refunded. This was absolutely refused. They had only had it for 3 days. Disgusting !!
