Avoid at all costs

I purchased a car from Auto Sussex in November 2024, which was advertised as having gone through all their checks and having a full service history. Within a week, I returned the vehicle, reporting that the engine felt sluggish and was occasionally misfiring. They inspected it and dismissed my concerns, telling me everything was fine. Fast forward eight months, and a Land Rover specialist diagnosed a cylinder 1 combustion fault — the engine was a complete write-off. The mechanic advised this issue likely existed at the time of purchase, meaning the car was sold to me in this condition. On further investigation, I discovered that Auto Sussex had misrepresented the service history. It wasn’t a “full” history as claimed — the last service had been carried out nine months late, making it a partial history at best. When I confronted the dealership, Stuart became aggressive and defensive over the phone, offering no support or accountability. This wasn’t a cheap or high-mileage vehicle — it had only 43,000 miles, yet I lost over £10,000 in just seven months. My recommendation: avoid Auto Sussex entirely. Dishonest, dismissive, and ultimately very expensive.
