Car lasted 3 months

brought ford c max from chris at first he seemed all good but i soon realised he was a 'no it all' to be polite. Basically the car broke down 3 months later and now needing a new engine which is going to cost just as much as I paid for the car. Chris is basically saying not his problem. not answering phone or emails now. surely my consumer rights i should have a car that lasts longer than 3 months!
