Refused fixing car after 14th day of pur

I recently purchased car from Motors Express in Nelson, and unfortunately, my experience has been far from satisfactory. Firstly, the car collection process was extremely frustrating. Despite arranging a specific time to collect the car, it wasn’t ready when I arrived. I ended up waiting for around two hours while the vehicle was retrieved from another garage. During this time, I was left to wait in one of their cars on-site, as they have no customer facilities, an understandable limitation given their yard-based operation, but still inconvenient. When the car finally arrived, it was missing both the stamp and invoice for a recent service, meaning we had to drive around for another hour to track down the service invoice, yet the service book remained unstamped. The dealership provided a third-party warranty from Handler Protect, which is widely known to be unreliable. This “cover” seemed more like a marketing tool to attract buyers rather than meaningful protection. It does not replace the dealer’s legal obligations under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which clearly protects buyers from faults that appear shortly after purchase. Indeed, only 14 days after purchase, the engine management light came on due to a faulty oxygen sensor, exhaust leak, engine vacuum leak or wiring issues (P0133). Rather than assisting or arranging a fix, the dealer insisted that this was not covered under their warranty, attempting to wash their hands of responsibility. Most reputable dealers would handle a minor, inexpensive fault like this as part of their duty to sell a car of satisfactory quality, but Motors Express refused. Overall, my experience highlights: * Delayed collection and lack of proper customer facilities. * Incomplete service records and missing stamp in service book * Unreliable third-party warranty (Handler Protect) used as a shield against legal obligations. * Unhelpful and dismissive attitude when dealing with a legitimate post-purchase issue. While I like the car itself, I cannot recommend Motors Express based on my experience. Buyers should be aware that, despite their advertising and apparent professionalism, they may not take responsibility for even small faults shortly after sale, and their third party warranty not worth the paper written on.
