Terrible experience – avoid NT/NZ Car Tr

I purchased a Mercedes C-Class (Reg: LM17 ***) from this dealership on 12 August 2025. Within just a few short drives the car developed serious problems: smoke and burning smell from the engine, oil leaks, jerking, overheating, dashboard warning lights, and gear shift issues. Despite returning the car multiple times and being told it was “fine” or “just a small fix,” the same faults kept coming back. Even during a test drive with their own staff, the car produced heavy smoke. Eventually, they admitted it may need a gasket/turbo repair. I formally rejected the car under my legal rights within 14 days, but instead of handling the matter professionally, the staff (including Mr Ali) made me wait around, dismissed my concerns, and showed no real interest in resolving the issue. Their customer service was extremely poor, and I was left feeling stressed, anxious, and without the car I paid for. They provided me with a courtesy car, which drove smoothly with no issues, clearly proving that the vehicle I purchased was defective from the start. I returned the courtesy car and all documents for LM17 *** on 27 August 2025 and am still waiting for my refund. Buying a car is stressful enough – dealing with this dealership has been a nightmare. They advertise “clear MOT, no faults,” but my experience has been the opposite. I would strongly warn anyone considering purchasing from NT/NZ Car Traders to think very carefully before trusting their claims.
