Buyers beware of Blofield motor company!!! Since buying a car 7 months ago for circa 16k it has drained my wife and I emotionally, financially and caused no end of worry and an awful lot of our time. 3 months and a day into ownership and a day out of warranty we had an engine light come on!!! Our local long term mechanic came out and read the code and suspected a cam chain was needed and something his garage were not equipped to do, but suggested we phoned blofield as it was only one day out of warranty and they should be able to help. We phoned Simon and he suggested to get the car to him as he wouldn’t see us stuck. We arranged for the rac to tow the car to blofield as we were advised by our mechanic and rac not to drive the car. After they had the car a week we hadn’t heard anything so we phoned them for an update, we got informed that the car was on the ramps having a nox sensor fitted, and they would ring when all sorted. We never received a call from Simon, so after the garage having the car for 3 weeks and several calls to them in the 3rd week asking when could we expect it to be ready we picked our car back up, and Simon told us ‘the cars driving lovely sweet as a nut’ we drove off happy the car was fixed, although 3 weeks was a long while, he had fixed it and not given us a bill and it’s ’as sweet as a nut’ not 2 mile up the road my wife notices a knocking sound coming from a front wheel area, unbeknown to me, I overtake her and head for home. After arriving home I hear of my wife’s horrible drive home in the ‘sweet as a nut’ car and I book it in to our usual local mechanic and the knocking sound was a loose link arm, he just had to tighten the nut. It could have maybe been a dangerous, maybe fatal drive home for my wife and young daughter that day, it was at this point our faith in blofield took a massive dive. Two weeks later a light comes back on, we’re in a dilemma, take it back to blofield or not, we opted not and took it to a prestige car specialist. We had a call a few hours later it had blown a turbo. We pay for a turbo £2300, We pick up car a day after dropping it off to them and they kept us constantly in the loop.Unfortunately we only have to car home for two days and a light comes back on, took it back to the same garage that fit the turbo to read the codes and they suggest the timing chain, now I’m best part of £2500 in over original price of the car and the car is still showing timing chain issues.Friends and family suggest that under our consumer rights, blofield are liable and are responsible for a refund or a repair. We emailed blofield to explain and within a week Simon came and collected our car and left us a courtesy car, I was glad we weren’t having to borrow family’s cars or hire rental car. Now the courtesy car was a little ropey looking and a bit grubby, but I’m a begger at this point and grateful. Fast forward two weeks and only ever one way phone calls. . . . us to them!!! We finally got the go ahead to collect our car, it apparently it was just an oily sensor probably from when the turbo blew up. 3 days later the light comes back on. A heated discussion by myself to Simon at his garage led to us driving of again in a courtesy car. Whilst waiting for none existent phone calls during another 3 weeks my wife was Pulled by police for no insurance or tax on the courtesy car! The car is back after a TIMING chain replacement but the jury is still out.Purchase from this garage at your peril and don’t hope for updates or calls as I’m convinced the phones there only receive calls and don’t make out going calls. To say we’re exhausted is an understatement, please take your time to consider if you buy a car from here. I’m sure we have been unlucky with the problems with our car but Blofields lack of communication in our difficult times has been terrible and perhaps if the chain would have been replaced in the first instance I might be leaving a different review, and let’s be fair it was the timing chain that was advised by my long time mechanic 5 months ago. And Simon I’m still awaiting a call.
