Holding Deposit

Paid £250 holding deposit on a Citroen E C4.I was told that the deposit would be returned when the deal was finalised. DATE DEPOSIT PAID 12/08/2025 .BALANCE PAID BY BANK TRANSFER ON 06/09 Car collected Sept 2025.(delay due to waiting for a charger to be installed) To date 14/12/2025 deposit has not been returned,many phone calls and the call backs never happen.On the 11/12/2025 i was told that the £250 had been used as part payment , I was given a payment date and the amount that I had paid both wrong made to show that the deposit had been used.Checked with my Bank .The balance had had been paid on the 06/09.Phoned Bassetts with details said I dwould be called back(never happend) phoned again on Sat .,13/12/2025 again promised a call back (never happened).Is this Sharp Practise .To Date 14/12/ 2025 the £250 is still outstanding.
