Protect yourself & go somewhere else
I have taken the time to carefully write this review as I would not want others to progress forward with this company without all the facts, I hope this helps others to have an insight beforehand should they potentially need it. My first red flag came from when I was communicating back and forth with my designated sales associate (who I would name but I already made a complaint about him) The first initial call was perfectly normal. I then got in contact a second time (after reserving the car) to ask a couple of more questions (as I was going to make a defintie decision that same night with my partner) but during this conversation when I asked about a part ex he was quick to say and I quote "At this point Jessica, I spoke to my manager and we both agreed that we maybe should not have let you reserve the car if you are this undecided". (This was the following morning from reserving the car only the afternoon before) Needless to mention that I have every right to reserve a car and ask whatever questions I please whilst I have it reserved. The second red flag that I experienced happened when I booked in to pick up my car for an alloted time but yet they left me and my partner waiting for over 45 minutes. We received no apology from the staff member nor anyone else. The third red flag, Hippo deemed it appropriate to have me and my partner do the car checks in TORRENTIAL RAIN! This rain was a part of a seven day storm! What on earth is the justification for Hippo to not have moved the vehicle into a more sheltered space for weather such as this for customers??!! (We had also travelled 2 and a half hours, we had to travel from the north east there and back) Because of the situation in which Hippo had put me in, I experienced ongoing issues with my car such as: Two major cracks in the front windscreen, I will have no choice other than to replace it as I don't believe that they could make it through a winter. Although I had specifically reported this issue not long after, Hippo's excuse was that I didn't report it in the first 48 hours. My question to you is, how could I have reported this in a 48 hour period when the storm had only just stopped the same morning in which I noticed them? The second most important point are my car tyres. Only one front tyre had been replaced with the other front tyre having been purposely left on what was quite literally, the bare minimum in order to make it 'road legal'. This created a very dangerous imbalance of tyre grip and this should not be sold to a consumer as it is nothing short of gross negligence!! For such a 'reputable' car garage in which Hippo claims to be, a consumer should NOT be sold a car with such an imbalance of front end grip. When I rang about the tyre situation the complaints department said and I quote "At the end of the day, you purchased a second hand car, so it's fair to say that you get what you get when not buying new, I don't quite know what you expected". Please protect yourself in every way when buying used vehicles from this company.
