Terrible and Abusive Service
I returned home following a humiliating experience at the Arnold Clark Dacio/Renault showroom in Dumbarton in mid December. Two months ago my Dacia Duster radio stopped working and kept displaying a message 'not yet received'. I was passing the Dacia showroom and decided to call in and get advice on the matter. The girl behind the counter, about 18 to 20 years old, blond hair and glasses, was unhelpful, unfriendly, had no communication skills whatsoever and didn't seem to want to help. She explained that I would need to pay the initial fee of £170 (or near enough) to see if they can fix my car. I appreciated that but was worried I would pay the fee and yet there was no guarantee they could fix it. Clearly she wasn't interested in helping me so I asked if I could speak to a mechanic (in the hope he could reassure me he could fix it). After a 10 minute wait, a mechanic came out and I explained my predicament. He was aged 30 to 40 years old and was bald headed. He said he couldn't guarantee to fix it without the diagnostic test. I explained again that I was worried that I could be £170 out of pocket and the radio still might not be fixed. He then became sarcastic, saying that if I don't pay the fee then 'his family will go without a wage and so too would all his work colleagues at Christmas' - would £170 pay the whole of the workplace??? He too was unfriendly, unhelpful and had absolutely no empathy at all. I said that no one had been helpful, turned to walk away, and as I left he gave me a wa**er hand gesture. What potential customers need to be aware of is, would you want this sarcastic and abusive mechanic working on your car???? I made an official complaint but got no feedback - sounds like Arnold Clark are embarrassed and are avoiding the situation. The showroom is now heavily tarnished and customers are best to stay well away from the place. Next time I purchase a car it won't be from Arnold Clark.
