After Sales at Eden Vauxhall in Fareham

On a positive note my husband and I had a very good and pleasant experience when buying our used Corsa Griffin 1.4 at Eden Vauxhall in Fareham and were extremely pleased with it as it seemed good value and its mileage was low. However, after only twelve days of driving the car it developed a serious problem in and around the radiator and pump areas. Even today it remains a mystery as to what the exact problem was that made the car spurt out a putrid liquid onto the road which smelled highly toxic and industrial. It was fortunate that my husband and I had arrived outside our front door when this occurred. When we explained what had happened to Eden Vauxhall they told us to telephone RAC Vauxhall Recovery, which we did, and they came out to examine the car. It transpired that the problem was not obvious either to the RAC man and he suggested that my husband follow him to Eden Vauxhall in Fareham but made it quite clear that he would not go into the dealership as he had had a very unpleasant experience previously and had found a person in the service department to be very aggressive. This naturally was a warning to my husband and, when he approached one of the service team, he was treated in a most disrespectful and rude manner. My husband explained to the man what had happened to our car and that the RAC man had refused to go right onto the forecourt. As a result, the man behind the service desk became most abrupt and unhelpful. When my husband asked him if there was a courtesy car available he was told that there wasn’t one. Even though my husband explained that we lived over four and a half miles away and that he would have to walk as there wasn’t a direct bus mid afternoon, the man at the service department made no attempt at organising a lift for him. My husband explained that he was a 65 year old man with a heart condition but the service man showed a lack of understanding of this. All of this is an extremely poor reflection on Eden Vauxhall and their lack of after sales care, especially as we had paid for an extended three year warranty that was meant to include a courtesy car. Needless to say, this has obviously left us with a very bad taste in our mouths and, although we were refunded the full amount that we had paid out under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 as the product was not fit for purpose and we were within the thirty day period when we were able to be refunded. I should further add that the car that we had purchased had been sent down to Eden Vauxhall from another dealership. quite a few miles away. What added insult to injury after my husband and I had demanded a refund, we were told by the manager of the service department that he had not seen our car on his forecourt for checking on its arrival to their dealership in Fareham. All of this only makes us feel very let down by the Eden Vauxhall and, based on our experience, we would hesitate in buying a car from Eden Vauxhall again.
