We bought a car a few years ago from Anthony. Since then we have recommend friends and he has just sourced a car for our daughter as her first car. You simply tell him what you are looking for and he goes and finds it.

Really poor after sale care. Car arrived with a smashed indicator and it's taken 6 weeks of badgering them to finally get the part sent to me even though it was allegedly bought weeks ago. I am now also having to pay £25 to the DVLA to get a new logbook because the car was never registered to me which is just plain incompetent. I have now also been waiting more than a week to be refunded for the cost of registering the car in my name. They make a habit of ignoring emails and avoiding issues that need addressing, totally unprofessional. Buying my first car should have been an amazing feeling but it's been a headache from day one and I would certainly not recommend A&R to anyone.

I recently purchased and returned a 2009 Audi A4 from A&R Carriages and it was the worst car and dealer I've dealt with. Before purchasing the car I asked for pictures and videos of any damages and any known faults with the car. I received no additional pictures or information other than the pretty standard overview of the car. I did not view the car in person since I live 3 hours away and didn't have free time and I thought I was being provided with accurate information which unfortunately I was not. When the car was delivered, it was low on coolant with a coolant leak, 3 tires were low (between 22-25PSI), the car needed an alignment, the tachometer lights turned on and off randomly, a center console covering in the back was cracked in half, one vent didn't blow hot air, and the biggest issue was the transmission made a loud clunking noise and produced a burning smell when the car was warm and you were stopping the car or rolling from a stop. I dealt with two people from the dealer, Craig, who I think was genuine and wanted to get the issues rectified and help out as much as possible, and Anthony, the manager who was quite the opposite. Anthony told me most of the issues they'd never know about since they don't drive the car as much as the customer. You don't have to drive the car long or at all to check tire pressure, check if the coolant is low, check the heating, check the alignment, check to see if there's a console cover cracked in half, and to turn on the dash lights to make sure they work. The car did have to be driven for around 30 minutes before the transmission issue was noticeable but the car was driven 3 hours to my house when it was delivered. I'd rather they were just honest and told me they didn't inspect the car because when you say a lot of those issues wouldn't have been known then it just seems that they don't know the product they're selling. Sure they offered to fix all the issues but I had zero confidence in that car and who knows what issues I didn't find as I'm not a mechanic. When I told them that I would be returning it for a refund, I asked for a courtesy car until we received the refund. Craig helped me out and arranged it but later when I spoke to Anthony he was upset and said I shouldn't have asked for a courtesy car if I'm just going to refund the car. The car we purchased sat on our drive for 2 weeks because it's undriveable in stop and go traffic after 30 minutes and we live in the city. We then waited 2 weeks for a refund, so I think a courtesy car wasn't too much to ask and if it was, they could've denied it to me if Anthony really felt so strongly about it. I also emailed once and called 3 times in regards to the refund. Anthony first told me the money would be refunded on a Tuesday after the car was inspected, which is understandable. I called Tuesday afternoon and was told I'd receive the refund Friday. I called Friday afternoon and was told I'd receive it by 7pm. Saturday morning I received a message saying I'd receive it at 11am. At 11am I get a call from Anthony saying he doesn't have my invoice so I need to send it to him for a refund. Finally, I get the refund and I message Anthony saying I'll transfer the logbook back over online and he immediately tells me not to because he doesn't want me to make a mistake and he said he'll do it. I ask him if he can message me when it's done and he read the message and didn't reply. I message him again an hour later asking if it was done and he read that message too and didn't reply. I ultimately decided to just transfer it myself as I read an autotrader review that said another person was in the same scenario where they were told the dealer would transfer it for them and they didn't do it immediately and the person received charges from the DVLA because of it and I didn't want to take that chance if my messages were just being ignored.

Will never deal with this company again. Bought a car off them which was fine on the test drive, I went back 2 days later and purchased the car, I had multiple warning lights on the dashboard before I even got the car home! They sold me a faulty vehicle so I returned the car the next day and got a refund later that week, I gave the new log book to the dealership as the person told me they would sort it out, I stupidly believed them as I thought they would genuinely want to rectify their mistake. Over a month later and I'm now back and fourth with the DVLA trying to get my name removed from the vehicle, trying to appeal charges which is causing all sorts of stress. This company is quick to sell you something and take your money but that's where the 'good' service stopped for me. The reviews were good which made me trust this company, be very cautious if buying a car from these people. Bring a mechanic if you can, I bought the car to my mechanic straight after I bought it and he told me to get a refund.

A&R Carriages were above and beyond other dealers I have been too previously. Anthony made sure everything was accounted for and I was completely happy before proceeding with my new car. Everything was faultless, despite having to wait for a third party finance company to pay the dealership (No fault of A&R Carriages as I had arranged this before heading down). Would 100% recommend this deanship to anyone wanting a personal, local service.
I bought an Audi A3 from A & R Carriages and asked serveral times regarding if there are any faults that i need to be aware of in the car which they lied about, even after saying that I'll get it fixed myself. The back wiper does not work which I found out when it was pouring and could not see anything through the interior mirror. Also, the window does not go back up while driving sometimes, it requires you to turn the engine off and hold the lock button to get them shut. Which I also found out the hard way, by stopping on the hard shoulder. I was constantly promised that I will receive my RAC warranty through the post whenever I called them, it has been over three months since I have purchased the car off them and still no letter. The dealer is very dishonest and unprofessional in their dealing. Would not recommend to go to them.

Hi Shaqil, I am sorry you have cause for complain. Really surprised by this review as your car was booked in with us on 8/01/2019 for a new window switch and rear wiper motor - no one showed and we still have the parts here. Customer satisfaction is really important to us and we would like to resolve this asap. We have tried your mobile but it is not connecting. Please contact us at your earliest convenience.

I strongly disagree with your review as A&R Carriages is the best dealership I ever come across . I have bought few cars from them and the service you get there you wouldn’t get it anywhere!!!!!
A & R Carrriages delivered my car for free - 120 miles away! No fuss and bother.. happy with my car. Thank you guys.
I have bought 2 cars from A&R Carriges and both have been supurb. The after sales service is fantastic and i would highly recomend buying a car from them.
I bought an Audi A1 from here a few months ago. The car was clean and in good condition and up to now I have had no major issues with it but I was supposed to receive 2 keys and have only received one... I have tried to contact the dealer on numerous occasions to retrieve the additional key but they have not responded so I wouldn't recommend them based on that.

A & R Carriages were spot on, I went down on the Saturday and I had a bit of a wait but the lad was on his own. The car is spot on, it was advertised as having 12 months MOT but it runs out in a few months. I called them up, he apologised and said he would send the money when the time came which is a fair solution. Can't fault them otherwise.
