I bought a car in good faith from A1 Ortos in 2018. Within 10 days the car broke down losing power and not working through the gears (automatic). I had to get a taxi home with my newborn. When I went to collect the car later it worked again and A1 said this was probably a "glitch"?! Four days later I had the same issue - I had a passenger who then videoed the fault. This time I managed to get the car home and called the AA but as I'd switched the engine off the fault light had disappeared and the car worked again. So an intermittent fault! With a newborn I couldn't rely on a car with an intermittent fault so under the Consumer Rights Act within 30days of purchase I asked for a refund which A1 declined. I reiterated this via a solicitors letter which was again declined by A1, as they said I would have to prove the fault. Trying to cut a very long story short I took the car (FORD) to a main dealer and paid £80 to have it inspected. I was told that this model of car does wipe its own fault history. I was also told that this car had been fitted with a "suspect" scrap gearbox and was likely to need a new one very soon. I managed to track down the previous owner who told me that she had traded the car in as she had tried to tow a caravan with the car ultimately breaking the gearbox. I also found out the car had gone to auction with this fault. I was advised by FORD to get a full refund as this car was certainly not fit for purpose. A1 initially told me it would cost me £50 to get the car towed back to their garage however after they received the solicitors letter they towed the car at no cost. They had the car for inspection for over a week and despite me having a newborn they did not offer me any alternative. They said they couldn't find a fault therefore denied that there was one. I'm not sure why they think I would put myself at such a cost and inconvenience making this up?! The car clearly had an intermittent fault that I could evidence by video and was unreliable. By this point the situation had cost me time and a significant amount of money and I was told by my solicitor that I could take this further by taking A1 to court but that this would cost me more time and a lot more money. Unfortunately with a newborn baby I dint have any more energy or money to take the issue further. The whole experience had cost me around £4000 not to mention it being very stressful and upsetting. I had to trade the car in at a great loss to me. I would never buy a car from A1 or recommend them to anybody. Their customer service is disgraceful as is the attitude from their MD and their questionable business practice. They aren't registered with the motoring ombudsman which speaks volumes. Stay away from this company.......
This was the first time i have ever dealt with A1 Ortos and i can honestly say it wont be my last. These guys are nothing like the usual dealers ( including main dealers ) there friendly proffessional approach and caring nature put you at ease the minute you walk through there door. I was met by Tony Preist and before he even knew what i was there for asked me and my partner if he could get us a drink once he handed us our coffees he left us to look around. We had travelled 40 miles to look at a Range Rover Evoque they had advertised at this point we asked Tony about the vehicle which he kindly took us to see the car and take it for a test drive. Unlike most sales people Tony showed us every we needed to know about the car and answered all our questioned. Not only was we happy with the car we were also happy with the way Tony and the rest of the Guys looked after us while we were there making our visit there an enjoyable Day out. Me and my partner are now proud owners of an Evoque this garage is a must Visit for any potencial car buyer and a place to visit for a great coffee and a honest way of buying a car. Thank You All for giving me and my partner a pleasant enjoyable way of buying a car, Will definately be back and will definately recommend A1 Ortos to anyone wanting to replace there car...... If I could leave A1 Ortos no Star I would, We visited the place and decided to purchase a Merc from them, We paid twice deposit than what they typically asked for, this was just to make sure we get the car quicker from them. they promised to prep the car in 5 working days, but thats never happened. we never heard of them for about 2 weeks, not even a message, so we decided to chase it up, we heared so many lies, one of the salesman told us the car has a fault which cant be easily fixed, then after few days they said the technicians need more time so the part for the car can be arrived, and gets fixed .the next day the called and said they can not sort the car out and they can not sell it to us. We approched the manager and he was discriminating us and saying that they have more expensive car in their showroom, which have more priority than the car we want to purchase, ( our car price was £7500.00) .this situation took almost a month and they kept £1000.00 deposit from us, for no reason. ALL I CAN SAY IS, there are better KNOWN companies out there for a reason, their price maybe are few hundred pound higher but at least you do not need to deal with lies and descrimination. Unless you purchase a car over 50K, they might treat you diffrently otherwise you will be treated like a garbage. DO NOT FALL INTO THEIR TRAPS. Avoid

I bought a x5 Bmw from a1 ortos. Mark & Tony were very helpful got my car ready within 24 hrs of deposit. Mot check done. Cars in excellent condition.

I would recommend A1 Ortos. They have an impressive range of quality cars to suit all budgets. We travelled 250 miles to view a Ford S Max. I was highly impressed with the car which was prepared to a very high standard. Decided right away to purchase the vehicle. Collected the car a fortnight later and dealt with both Tony and Marc who were very helpful and professional. Could not fault the car on the long drive home and so far no problems.

The car (BMW X5 11K price tag) was not checked before delivery and transmission failed few miles away on the same day of collection. An OBD scan at my garage showed also other faults that could have been known such as Glow Plugs and Air Conditioning. The car was returned to them the day after, on the 30 March 18 and it's still there on the 12th April 18. The 'courtesy' car they give has to be insured on the customer policy, even if the cost was refunded this takes a big deal of time to be arranged. They do not care as long as you have paid and signed of course. They tend to avoid written answers and rely heavily on 'courtesy calls' with sales blablabla and no factual content. They say in a loop that this is the best they can do but obviously they forget to check the cars before delivery as the faults with this BMW would have been easily found out with a simple OBD scan. This shows a very little respect for people's time and expenses, once you have paid .. you are a nuisance. One of the worse experience I have ever had as a customer, I feel I have been threaded as a wallet. please do avoid as once you have signed and paid you cease to exist.

I only gave 1 star as they dont have 0 stars but let me tell u BEWARE PEOPLE THEY WILL TRICK U IN TO SIGNING SOMETHING AND SAY YOU WILL GET A REFUND PLEASE PLEASE BE AWARE DON'T BUY THE CARS THEY ARE OVERPRICED AND NOT 100% RIGHT PLEASE 1S AGAIN BE AWARE THEY WILL TALK TO U LIKE U DON'T KNOW ANYTHING AT ALL ANT EVEN TRY TO CONVINCE U WE LOST OUR DEPOSIT ON THE CAR BUY THESE TRICKS BUT WE RECORDED IT AND WILL BE TAKING IT FURTHER WILL POST EVERYTHING ONLINE SOON.

Did u get your deposit back?? I put a holding deposit on a car and after looking at it I decided against it. They said I’d get my deposit back but reading all the reviews I’m abit worried.
