AVOID AVOID AVOID My vehicle was sold on by AJC CARS LTD months ago and still no payment has been made to me. Despite numerous requests. I have been given all the lies under the sun as to why the payment has not been made. Unfortunately cannot rate as zero star which is what this place deserves

I’m just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience to me dealing with AJC cars. In August 2023, I purchased a vehicle for £30,000 which is a large sum of money for my family. I paid for the car in full and had it delivered to me. The car only started on the first day of ownership and then in the following days it wouldn’t start, had gearbox warning lights in the dash (and many others). I tried to start the car numerous times in subsequent days and it continued to not start and display numerous warning lights in the dash. I returned the car to AJC cars for a full refund which was agreed to on the phone and in messages. However since then, my emails, phone calls and messages have gone unanswered (included three more phone calls tonight) and two months later, I still haven’t been refunded. My family and I are in real need of the £30,000. I enlisted a lawyer who advised AJC Cars of their legal obligation to refund me but they ignored my lawyer’s letters, emails and phone calls. I have cases open with Citizens Advice and I’m in the processing of reporting AJC Cars for Fraud through Action Fraud but I’d really love to hear from anyone else who has had a similar experience with AJC Cars. I can also see a review under mine and they have done this to someone else. It seems police involvement is my best option here.

Hilary Whitaker in response to I'm owed £30,000 after car purchase
I have also reported him through action fraud and you must report them to financial ombudsman who are their regulators - also West Mercia Police. Whilst a Civil matter, West Mercia Police should be building up a picture by now. Also initiate section 57 via your bank. Nobody is above the law and we are also taking them to court which will cost them dearly. I feel sorry for any employees who don’t agree to working for a fraudulent boss. I’m also in touch with other people who have experienced being ripped off and I’m sure Mr Aaron Coombes must be in serious financial trouble- but not as much as he’s about to be!

Yes he scammed us too and took my disabled brother’s life savings leaving him with no car. He said that his business is on its last legs so appears to be robbing people to keep it afloat. James Bookes who works with Aaron Coombes was charged of car fraud in 2021 and narrowly avoided jail. He conned someone out of £35k and is still doing it. They are the worst type of people and they will go to jail this time.
My disabled brother bought a car which was delivered with loads of undisclosed damage. They tried to deny or then pin it on the delivery driver but the damage was old and thankfully the delivery company photographed and detailed it all on their forecourt. Car returned 14 days ago under Consumer Rights Act and, guess what, our £8600 has not been returned so this is fraudulent and they’re still marketing the car. My brother’s life savings wiped out and he’s had no transport for over 2 weeks. Don’t touch these fraudsters.

Tim Coulson in response to Dreadful
Hi Hilary, I'd like to speak to you about your experience with AJC Cars. I'm in a similar situation and have been owed £30,000 for more than a month past the 14 day period they had to make payment. You can reach me at timothycoulson@gmail.com
My brighter purchased a car online which was meant to have a year's MOT. Apparently it sat in an MOT station for 4 days then got put on a truck without my bother's knowledge and sent to Scotland. They tried to force him to MOT it but, as soon as it arrived, it was clear that it did not match the description and was covered in damage. They tried to pin this on the delivery company who had photographed the damage their own forecourt. Jamie tried to pin it on his boss Aaron. Aaron does not like to answer emails. They now have the car back but still have my brother's money and they know that he has mobility issues and is without transport. It is cruel, unkind, unnecessary and appalling treatment of a vulnerable person. Do not touch these people.

I bought a VW T5 in Aug 20 from AJC Cars. I’d not bought a used vehicle in over 15 years so will admit I should have challenged what James and Aaron told me more. I felt completely unvalued as a customer, there were some serious issues that they should have grasped and could have helped me with. - I was told the V5C paperwork had been submitted when I collected it. A call to DVLA after 8 and 12 weeks and there was no sign and so I had to submit myself. - Vehicle was handed to me with only vapours in tank (fine, sigh, but how to make a customer feel unloved…). - I was told the MOT would be done on day of collection and this wasn’t the case. I should not have trusted them and I should have checked myself on Gov.uk. This T5 had had significant work done since it last had an MOT 15 months before – so I just assumed they would have done one. I booked an MOT locally only to get it there to be told it was Class 7 not 4, sigh – If Aaron had provided me with the paperwork I’d ask for I’d have known that. I rebooked a Class 7 MOT, but they wouldn’t accept it as the diesel pipework leaking when vehicle moved. These two bookings cost me a day of leave from work in total. - Vehicle was returned for warranty repairs and the MOT (diesel leak, rear seat not secure, bare electrics behind wheel arch, interior electrics). Courtesy car handed to me only vapours in tank (again made to feel like a 3rd class citizen). - To their credit the T5 was returned to my home with most (but not all) of the warranty defects cleared and with an MOT now in place. I apologise sincerely to their driver for asking him to wait while Aaron sent me over some paperwork he’d promised several months beforehand, and also for leaving very little fuel in the tank – against my common courtesy but they had done it to me twice. The most obvious remaining outstanding defect upon return was that there was a loose bolt on the rear seats which I was told was “cosmetic” and “inaccessible”. As this holds my children in place I strongly disagreed it was cosmetic and I decided to fix it myself – “inaccessible” just meant I just had to move the spare wheel to fit(!) At this point I lost all trust in them and I put the vehicle into an MOT myself with Halfords. This identified the diesel leak they’d undertaken to clear was still recorded as a Minor fault ‘chaffing diesel pipe’ (honestly without prompting them) as well as some other Minor faults which were not reported on the AJC Cars MOT certificate. (A matter for the DVSA.) So use AJC cars if you know vehicles well, and can scrutinize every step of their work both mechanical and documentation, because my experience was that they fell short in a number of areas.
