It was a pleasure buying a car from Alasdair. Car seems great, but equally pleased to have my warranty if there are problems.
The Best and most Honest car dealer I have ever meet I bought my Mitsubishi Lancer on the 28/04/2021. I have been so fearful buying a second car after a very bad experience I had previously. It was proved that buying my car from Alastair was a very good choice, I am glad I have meet him and bought my car from him. I wish him the very best for his honesty and for really pricing his clients. May the mighty God always bless your business Alastair. ION.V

I bought first car Ford fiesta a few weeks ago absolutely amazing quality car and very clean Really Helpful Service
Bought my first car from here two weeks ago, absolutely amazing service really friendly and the car is absolutely amazing, absolutely faultless would definitely recommend.
We have inspected several vehicles for our customers at Alastair Cars and on all occasions cars were found in good mechanical condition. Inspectors have reported back pleasure to business with sales people. CarExamer recommends Alastair Cars to car buyers.

Me and my wife were very pleased by the customer service at Alastair Cars. They were very welcoming and had a couple of laughs. I think the price also matches the car, there’s nothing wrong with it whatsoever.
I bought a car from Alastair Cars last year and to be honest I have had nothing but problems. From the initial purchase things were dealt with shoddily. Had some work done on refurbing the wheels. When the car came back it was missing a bolt on 3 of the wheels. Waited a week for rear parking sensors to be installed only to find it was not done when I came to collect it. Installer was doing it when i came to collect it. Didn't bother to mask the area when he sprayed the sensors leaving paint smeared around the installation area. Alistair cars cleaned it up but made me feel like I was being argumentative. 6 months after purchase had a massive moisture issue. Took a while to annor it down to 3 inches of water standing in the boot. My usual garage reckoned it had been there for quite a while. Alistair cars did helped me to clean the water out and remove the rusted jack but really didn't want to know beyond that. Then less than a year after getting the car, had it MOT'd only to find significant corrosion underneath it. Just had to replace the front calipers, discs and pads after they seized for around £500. And to top it all, one of my neighbours hit the side of the car. However what it revealed was that the car had been in a significant accident before. I was told it had never been in an accident. Have also been told that whoever did the job did it poorly. All in all a horrible experience and I would never consider using these guys again. Car may have looked good but all that glitters is not gold, particularly in this case!!

Staff from Alastair Cars Ltd in response to Not is all as it would seem
Dear Afshar, thanks for your review. After reading your review, we don't really understand your frustrations after one year of the purchase of the vehicle. There are always two sides to each story. You have purchased well over 10 years old car for discount and on the top of it you have asked us for a favour to fit in rear parking sensors. Considering the colour of the vehicle, it was challenging to match the colour that was causing delays but you were OK with it because you wanted to have it done right. Parking sensors were finished to the standard you wanted at the end and you were happy. You came to us after 8 months of driving AFTER WINTER! to show us some water on the right side of the boot, and you accusing us it was our fault. You claimed that you have cleaned your water channels but after inspecting them they were blocked and covered with leaves. You started to clean them in front of us and remember clearly that garage owner from Church Motor Company asked you not to make mess on his property, you didn't really seem to care. Mazda 6 that you have bought was HPI clear which we are more than happy to prove and you can come over to collect HPI certificate. It is shocking that you are accusing us even for your car been hit by your neighbour. And last but not least, break calipers do seize and you have to replace them like brake pads or discs when they come to the end of their life which is part of the service, but looks like THAT YOU WOULD ONLY LIKE TO DRIVE AND SOMEONE OLSE PAY FOR MAINTANANCE! We are sorry that we misunderstood you when you were purchasing a cheap car that you actually wanted brand new car. Considering the misfortunes that happened to you at the time of purchase, our discount for the vehicle and few bits you asked to do on the car to make you feel better, and installation of the parking sensors without any profit to us, we are gutted that you as a business owner yourself, has a courtesy to blame us! We wish you all the best, and feel free to collect HPI certificate from our office for your records to SEE THAT YOUR CAR IS OR WAS HPI CLEAR until your neighbour crashed it. Best regards, Alastair Cars
As a single mum of 2 young children, I bought my Toyota Prius car through a dealer (Alastair Cars) in the hope that it would give me more peace of mind than a private sale due to having a 3 month warranty period post-sale. I also chose an AA accredited dealer in the hope that it would be even more of an assurance that it was a reputable dealer with minimal problems. During the first 3 months I noticed that the driver side windscreen washer jet wasn't working, that there was a sporadic whistling sound coming from externally and that the gears wouldn't always engage when the car ignition was started until the ignition was turned off and on once or twice (this happened on a number of occasions). On voicing these problems to Alastair Cars, I was advised to go and see them with the car to resolve any issues. It was established that the washers were clogged with limescale and I was advised to buy myself new ones from eBay and told that they would fit them for me if needed. Bearing in mind that the washers were blocked with limescale, this is something that has clearly built up over time and isn't something that happened since I bought it. On this basis and knowing that they will need fitting by someone with the right tools as the insulation is not something I can remove myself, would you feel that it is fair to ask me to source and buy them myself? Regarding the squealing sound, I was told that it was likely that inferior brake pads had been fitted and that there was about 10% left on them but that if I returned when the light on the car come on showing that they needed changing, that they would change them for me at a cost. Would you be happy to hear sporadic squeaking on a car that you have just bought, be told that it has 10% left on the brake pads and that you should come back when the warning light appears on the dashboard and pay to have it fixed? Whether or not there is a lot of mileage left on the brake pads, it isn't pleasant or reassuring to listen to sporadic squeaking (also, why is it sporadic if this is the problem?) With regards to the gears, I was told that this was normal for a semi-automatic not to always engage immediately. Would you feel reassured to know that a car not wanting to get into gear until the ignition is turned off and on once or twice is normal? I appreciate that it is a second-hand car but buying through a dealer should provide a customer with more peace of mind and service as and when needed within the warranty period. At present I do not feel that this is the case and am therefore unable to provide a positive review.

Staff from Alastair Cars Ltd in response to Disappointing After Sales
Dear Hanna, thank you for your time to write a review. We are surprised that while writing such a lengthy email, that you didn't mention few other facts. First that you have driven your old car to the ground and yet demanded small fortune for it, (you never spend a penny apart fuel on your old car) and didn't disclose problems on your car that we part exchanged in good faith from you, than that you have inspected Toyota Prius car 3 times with your helper to make sure every inch of the car is up to the standard before you purchased the car. afterwards: 1. first that you contacted us only week before your warranty expired and until than you had no problems with the car. 2. We asked you to come over: We have checked your issues, gearbox and gears were fine, engaging every time and you cannot deny that! We drove around and were shifting and shifting and was all good. There were no squeaking or other sounds neither Hanna! 3. break pads had enough depth or otherwise were more than legal. 4. about the washer jets, you have bought car in winter and contacted us only in spring that they not squirting. We told you we will replace them for FREE for you as long as you supply little plastic jets (and they are cheap). Limescale does build up but surely you can do better than blame car dealer for it! Toyota Prius that you have bought is 2005 and was in great condition. If you expected perfection than you should have bought a brand new car. Cannot believe that you are sooooo cheap you can't even buy piece of plastic for five pounds that we offered to fit in for free for you. We wish knowing how deceitful you were with your old car and would not agree to a sale!
