Car Dealer Reviews is an
official partner of Auto Trader
We viewed a car that was listed at £7,495. Within 5 minutes of arriving the sales person tells us that there is a £295 fee for a customer care package. This covers the MOT, service, warranty etc. We query this as it isn't listed on the Autotrader advert, Drive the car, warning light comes on. 'It will be sorted as part of the package' Get back. Don't want us looking too closely at the paperwork. Ask about cambelt, told it is 10 years and 120k. For the Duratekq engine it is actually 8 years, but we leave it for now as they are not interested in hearing this. Sales man tries to upsell warranties and paint protection. We say we wish to buy the car, but won't pay a fee for services which should be included. Manager (wee man with attitude) comes out, claiming it is listed on the website. (which it is, but assume you just use the Autotrader as we did, then you do not know) there is no signage on site, or on the cars about the fee. Any way, continues aggressively to say that we have to pay it, or can take the car as is as he doesn't need to give a warranty. True, but under sales of goods and consumer protection he has to stand by the car for 6 months. His response 'good luck with proving it' Absolute idiot of a man. They just think they can try it on. Take your money elsewhere.

After sales customer care is awful, had recently travelled there to have a car I bought, to be fixed after just one month of driving/owning it. Since the car was under warranty I was told I need to bring the car in for them to fix it and I will be given a curtesy car in return since it’s nearly 2 hour drive to go there. Whilst there after driving 2 hours I was told both me and my wife haven’t been accepted insurance for the curtesy vehicle, reasons being we either haven’t less than 8 points in our licences or speeding tickets. I told them we don’t have any points in our licences or speeding tickets. They refused to give us insurance. I then asked if I could get my own insurance from another insurer but they declined this as well. I had no choice but to go back with a car that was clearly faulty ( cracking engine sound and cracking sound at the underside of the car) after just doing 700 miles on it. I couldn’t leave the car there since it would have costed me a lot of money for the trip back and another trip to come and pick up the car afterwards which I didn’t budget for plus I could have been late for afternoon school runs. The salesman Julian was in particular not helpful at all he was just glad he sold us a car that lasted less than 3 weeks without faults.
Im not usually one for leaving bad reviews but unfortunately, I had a dissapointing experience with Anchor Cars. My partner and I spent and wasted 9 hours travelling there and back and 3/4 a tank of fuel, to look at a car that I was told was ready to drive away, only to find on the test drive the car I wanted to buy, was faulty. Whilst I appreciate this may just be bad luck, the fault should have been picked up by the garage during their checks prior to putting the car up for sale. I will only write the facts and truth about my experience and you can make your own judgements based upon that. Saturday 17th February: Called Anchor cars a couple of times in the morning to discuss a car that I was interested in, spoke to sales person Aston and explained I would like to drive up and take the car away the same day. I was informed it was fully ready to go and there was no issues with that. I arrived around 14:00 hours after making the 3 hour journey and test drove the car, whilst on the test drive I noticed that the navigation system was not working. Aston was apologetic and said he would be able to get it fixed ASAP and could deliver the vehicle for free later that week and to hold it I would need to place a £500 deposit which I did as other than the navigation system not working it seemed a good car at a reasonable price. Aston stated that if it was not repairable or would drag on for weeks he would refund the £500. Aston stated he would give me a call to update me on Monday. Dissapointed I drove the 3 hours back home without the car that I was hoping to drive away with. Monday 19th February - I did not recieve a phone call all day so at 17:00 hours I called Anchor cars, spoke to Aston who said that he was waiting to hear back from the workshop and would call back tomorow. Tuesday 20th February - Again I did not recieve a call from Anchor cars so at 22:00 hours I sent Aston an email expressing dissapointment and frustration at lack of communication. Wednesday 21st February - At 10:00 hours recieved an email response from Aston apologising stating that an audi specialist would be in this week and he would be on the case when he is back in work first thing tomorow. Thursday 22nd February - No call or email from Anchor cars with an update. Friday 23rd February - Called Anchor cars at 09:30 hours, Aston was on another call and asked for a call back. Recieved an email from Aston at 11:00 hours stating that he was still waiting for an update from the service department and would call after 13:00 hours. At 14:00 hours I recieved a call from Aston stating an Audi specialist would be looking at the car on Monday morning and the car just needs a software update. Stated they could deliver any time in the week. Again frustrated this was going in to another week but decided to wait and trusted Anchor cars would sort the issue as promised. Monday 26th February - Around 17:00 hours Aston calls stating the car needs to go to Audi for the navigation system to be updated and he cannot get it booked in for 3 weeks and they would instead deliver the car down to me not repaired and for me to get the fault sorted myself and they would reimburse me. I explained that I would be away for a month and did not want to do that and wanted my money back. After a bit of push back from Aston, trying to get me to continue with the purchase of the car, he did eventually agree to give my money back but said that the accounts department had gone home for the day and would call me tomorow. Tuesday 27th February - Aston called in the morning and took my card details to arrange for the refund to be issued. Friday 1st March - Refund recieved.

We never actually attended the sales site having seen the car online and living some distance away. Helpfully, if you think it’s the right car for you, you can place a deposit and have it delivered. If it isn’t in the condition described you can get your deposit back no quibbles. John B delivered the car at the agreed time and it was exactly as promised. He was so helpful and ran us through all the details and paperwork. Anchor Cars were a pleasure to deal with and special thanks to Jon, the salesman we dealt with over the phone. An excellent experience thank you
