Firstly the Archway Cars site is in keeping with many such "bargain basement" type of dealerships who sell cheap vehicles. Whilst I do not have any complaints in this respect I do regarding descriptions and would advise against travelling any great distance on the strength of a "glowing report" or of photographs. They stated 5 stamps in service book (only 4). No major body work issues just "age related". This 56 plate had various dents and scratches on roof, bonnet, bumpers and panels. Also they had it valeted (definite poetic licence) and had merely sprayed it with Back to Black and had jet washed the boot carpet (an estate) and put back totally wet. As all I needed was a run-around for DIY I took a "flyer" and purchased. It took me three days to dry the vehicle out. Six weeks later I have not received a V5C and have been advised by DVLA that the dealer had not advised them. As it was, after a serious tidy-up and a check with the previous owner, I am happy with the vehicle which is OK for my needs. So if you know about cars and you want cheap travel then fine but take great care if looking for anything else with particular emphasis on travelling a long distance to see or of parting with a holding deposit without sight of the vehicle. They are no worse or better than others in their market segment and would consider using them if, you know your stuff and are reasonably local. I have no clue as to after sales service so to make a prediction would be unfair.

Wish I'd found these reviews of this car seller before parting with a £200 deposit. Saw they were advertising a really nice looking Renault Laguna GT Line 2.0 DCI (black). Pictures looked great and I rang the guy and asked loads of question about the condition of the car. I was told that the car was nice and clean inside and out. I asked about any damage at all and he said no. None at all. I paid the guy a £200 deposit over the phone as we lived some distance away and said I would go down today and pick it up. I booked a day off work and so did my son. We set off on the 3 and a half hour trip down there. When we got there we couldn't fine the place. Main reason for this is because it is not even a proper garage. Just a plot of land with a fence around it. No signs. Nothing. I asked someone and they said that this was the place but the owner wouldn't be there till half ten of 11 in the morning. I went in to wait and found the Laguna under more dust than you could possible imagine. Still, through the dust I could make out a 7" scratch on the rear passenger door which had been botched up. The alloys were bubbling with corrosion with paint coming off and the wheel nuts were all rusty. I didn't even want to test drive at this point. When the owner arrived I told him of the fault that he failed to tell me about on the phone. He said they were age related. Utter bull from his mouth every time he opened it. He told me I had no intention of buying the car and that I had arrived in a bad mood. Yes mate. That's right. I will loose two days pay and drive for 7 hours just to show you my bad mood. Said he will not give me my deposit back. We will see!!!

"RF06 UPR- Pure disgrace"

Stay well clear of Archway Cars. I bought a 2006 BMW 3 series registration RF06UPR (putting it out there as I don't want anyone else to get stitched up as they will try resell it) spent jst under 3k it looked amazing body work great condition again like other reviews state the car wen doing checks and talking on the phone it ticked all the boxes but on getting it and driving the car for 1 day the engine management light came on, on taking it back it went off again so they told me there was no fault.. I then got it checked by 5 different mechanics to be told there was a coil leak, coolant leak and egr blanked which it looks like the ecu hasn't been remapped.. the light came back on so it went back to the garage Thursday to find it had to codes... I told them about the other issues the mechanics had pointed out and asked him to repair them, after having abit of an argument and the guy being absolute damn rude i found out that the one month warranty is through them selves and only covers for few hundred?!! They said if it was an ecu issue they would not fix it as it would cost to much, n would give me a refund and sell it on some one that isn't bothered about the light (what seriously for 3k someone's going to want that with the dashboard like a Christmas tree) but to me I feel in love with that car n believed my warranty would sort this as it covered gearbox and engine... what a lie that was!!! I collected the car Sunday to find they had replaced the map sensor but said there mechanics had found no leaks and that it was all ok... I checked the coolant in front of them to find it was on minimum I told them if shouldn't be like this for the miles it's drove in less than a week but again was reassured no leaks wen I drive it away noticed the buggers had obviously had fun in the car as they clocked 200 miles??!! Wat test driving really!! Again I drove it away got it checked again by another mechanic to have found the leak straight away from a bolt and a wire almost rubbing on the camber ;( I drove it that day for not even 30 miles before the light came back on.. I called them today and told them I've spent more time in the garage than bloody driving the thing so told um straight I want a refund as the cars nothing but trouble, they then told be to bring the car documents n they would transfer the cash I explained I wanted cash as that's how I paid for it but they point blank refused and straight away got attitude and became rude but told them I would be down in a few hours on lunch. I took it back on my lunch break which was an hour, to find he was still doing it through bank transfer again I said I wasn't happy and wanted cash as that's how I paid but told me he doesn't handle in cash, yet he was quick enough to take 2700 cash of me!!! He then transferred 1k to me and told me the rest would be in my account in 2 hours as his bank wouldn't let him transfer more than 1k, i told him I wasn't leaving until i see the money so left me hanging around the place for 1.30 hours, I called my bank to get advice they could not understand why they had made the payment in 2 halfs so I went over to tell him then he got rude again saying he didn't trust me!!! I explained he had the keys the car docs in the office the car n I was left out of pocket still.. luckily I had my dad as I felt intimidated by the polish car wash next door as they are totally in with the garage is appalling.. again I waited an hour to go before approaching him for his response to be yea... said transfer the money so his reply was I could have made u wait 3 days for your refund... wtf the guys clearly has no customer service skills or cars sales skills.. to end the story tho I got my refund but it gets a little better when I told them I would go online before I leave to change ownership they told me it was ok as they still had it as they hadn't sent it off.... wtf wen I questioned this they said there a garage and send all log books off together to dvla on a Sunday... still doesn't explain why they still had it when I bought it 10 days ago.... that tells me something they knew if had issues n knew it would be going back... like the other review says pure disgrace to the industry. This has left me heartbroken as I thought I had feel in love with my dream car. PLS DO NOT BUY ANY CARS OFF ARCHWAY CARS ESPECIALLY REGISTRATION RF06 UPR.

I bought a car from archway cars about 6 weeks ago. It has been a great experience. Car was as described and good value for money. Dealer was very helpful, friendly and no pushy sales tactics were involved in the sale. Dealer even taxed the car online and arranged 24hrs driveway insurance. All in all its been a pleasure dealing with the guy. Would recommend and use them in future.

You can definitely find somewhere better to buy a car. Archway Cars are not the best. They are currently listing my knackered trade in at full list price.

I was very interested in buying a car that was for sale at Archway Cars, and on the phone I asked a checklist of questions, the answer to everything signified that the car was in perfect condition. I was also told the cat had just had a full service by them. I then got a qualified mechanic to look at the car and there was a multitude of problems. Lots of corrosion underneath, fluids low or empty, battery dead, rusted metal on the inside of the car somehow, leaks, the stink of fuel everywhere, and the list goes on. These people at Archway Cars are a disgrace to the motor sales industry in the UK with which I've had no issues with until now. Go elsewhere or beware!

Purchased a car, lasted 6 days before the radiator went. Archway Cars offered to fix it, but I would have to pay £50 to have the car returned by a recovery company. We could not come to a satisfactory agreement, so car returned and I had to pay a £90 admin fee. Shocking!!!
