I made a 350 mile round trip to buy from Avon Valley Garage Saltford and I'm delighted to report I made a great choice! Kevin and his team were patient and extremely helpful throughout the transaction - starting with initial emails over a month ago. The whole process was relaxed and friendly, with absolutely no pressure whatsoever. All aspects were fully explained and I was waived off with recommendations for a nice place to eat and directions to the motorway avoiding the city traffic. Wholly recommended...no nonsense, honest and a pleasure to deal with. Thanks guys!

What an absolute pleasure to buy a car from these wonderful gentlemen Friendly, knowledgeable, patient and genuine. I told them what I wanted and that is what I got!! Thrilled to bits with my car. Good fortune led me to Avon Valley Garage.
Excellent service. Very friendly and helpful staff. We are very pleased with our Skoda yeti, would definitely recommend Avon valley to our family and friends.
PX my old Freelander for a later model Danny was very helpful even picked up a minor fault on the new car that I had missed and had a fair price for the PX now thats good service. Had the new car for three weeks now and very pleased. Thank you Danny Avon Valley Garage Saltford.
I was interested in buying the £1595 Hiline Passat advertised at this dealership. I spoke to Kevin this afternoon. I asked when the cam belt had been done and the water pump - 2 years ago, all fine. I asked whether I had any warranty or guarantee and he explained that he had taken the car in part exchange and that they had done no work on the car. I asked whether they would put anything right on the car if it broke down within the first 30 days, he said, and I quote "If you broke down on the other side of my gate we wouldn't do anything for you." Now it may be that I am not covered by the 2015 Consumer Rights Act which covers you for 30 days if it was something that was likely to have been wrong at the time of purchase. I would have thought if breakdown was "outside the gate" then it would be covered! I honestly don't know, I thought if a dealer said this is the car, the exhaust is falling off and you buy it knowing that then fair enough, but it didn't give me any confidence at all so I won't be looking at the car. I only wanted this car as an interim as my 16 year old Passat (238,000 miles) isn't worth repairing after the turbo went yesterday and I might well have bought another car from him in a year if we had established a relationship. I'm sure he knows far more about consumer rights than me but I thought that someone buying a £20,000 car might like to know of this attitude towards someone buying a much cheaper car..... but as he said, he 'just wanted it off the forecourt and it was only £1595." I have posted this "review" or comment as I think it is important potential customers get a rounded view of what happens at garages. On with the search
Kevin Potticary from Avon Valley Garage Saltford (Closed Down) in response to Not quite sure what to make of this
We sell clearance cars on our back wall they are sold as clearance cars and most intelligent customers understand that. We tell these customers to have the cars inspected or bring a mechanic to view the car. These cars range from £195-£1995 and represents terrific value we do not offer warranty on these cars and we make it perfectly clears BEFORE we show these cars to anyone they have large stickers on the windscreen so their is no mistake,we also make sure that the customer understands this.On this particular occasion this customer said they didn’t understand, and kept going on about their rights and demanded a warranty which is not available on our clearance cars and we are very clear about this. Our RETAIL cars come with a COMPREHENSIVE WARRANTY and are put through the workshop, we have loan cars in case someone has a problem. This review gives the impression that all the cars on our fourcourt are the same as the CLEARANCE cars this is not the case.We have been here for over 35 years sold nearly 16000 we have a very good repeat business,We also understand that we can’t get on with everybody but usually do it’s rare I have to answer a review. PS I sold the Passat to a friend of mine and he commutes to Swindon from Bath every day since he bought it,has put over 7000 miles on without any problems whatsoever. Cheers Kevin.

Reading this I must just say this person picked a car on our back wall pex to clear section these cars are up for cost and so come without any warranty however the customers are encouraged to take them to their local garage to check the Car out or bring a mechanic with them so they can make an informed decision, this person has tried to give the impression that all our cars are sold as part exchange to clear basis this is not true we have been here for nearly 35 years and sell lovely cars, our retail cars come with a comprehensive AA warranty and Breakdown cover have been through the workshop and are sold with complete backup.
I have been thinking about getting a car from here and discussed it several times on the phone with kevin. Was told car was excellent and that I could drive it away there and then. So I drove over to see it having got the money all ready. Car was not really as described and worse when took for a test drive the brakes make the steering judder and the brake warning light was on. Is this ready to drive away? Anyway after saying no because of this and the condition I was almost thrown out of the garage by Kevin. Anyone buying from this garage should check the car very carefully and expect abuse if you say anything against the vehicle. Thankfully all I lost was a 2 hour drive and my time.

KEVIN from Avon Valley Garage Saltford (Closed Down) in response to Bad experience trying to buy car
Thank you for your thoughts, I haven't had to reply to a review for ages but you deserve a reply, this was a horrible experience from the moment you turned up, you spoke to us like dirt embarrassing your wife, who was lovely by the way, I can only think that you must have a job position where you boss people around and don't expect back chat. We are all human and no one likes being verbally abused just because you are spending money doesn't mean you can treat people badly, you will be glad to know that we have sold the car in question to a lovely man who is a mechanic and gave it a clean bill of health! peoples methods of trying to get Big discounts are varied your way is very rude !

I'm not sure if you are remembering the wrong person or just making things up to discredit a negative review, based on your replies to other negative feedback I suspect the latter. To answer your reply in a little more detail. I was absolutely NOT aggressive, demeaning and did not talk down to you in any way. I simply asked some questions about the car. My wife was not embarrassed in any way and had no reason to be so. The car had an awful lot of stone chips and a parking dent in the passenger door. This is what I referred to as it being not quite as expected. I decided that I could live with that and therefore asked if we could try the car. You took our driving licences and filled in a form while we chatted... then my wife and I took the car for a short drive. As soon as I touched the brake on the main road the brake warning light came on and the car juddered. I know this is not serious and probably just worn pads or discs - all fixable. That said the car was not ready to be driven away and on top of the car not being how I expected bodywork wise, I decided that I would not take it. I came back in to give you the key and collect out driving licences. You were on the phone so I sat down and waited. When I said I was not happy with the car because of the brakes you offered to have them fixed... But I had driven over to sort things out and drive the car away, so that would have meant a delay. So I said no. AT NO POINT DID I TRY AND NEGOTIATE OR GET YOU TO REDUCE THE PRICE! You had not even looked at my part exchange so number had not been discussed at all. Anyway as soon as I said no, you got up told me there was a Mazda dealer in town and ushered me out of the door. No apology or sorry we could not take it further, just rudeness as soon as you realised you were not going to make a sale. Anyway, I am delighted that you have sold the car... it was just not right for me. But there was no need be so unfriendly and absolutely no need to try and make me out to be a villain in your reply here... Hopefully people reading this will see the truth.

Simon our test drive records clearly states 20 minutes, you came in at the end of the day and took it out for 2 hours way past our closing time,2 hours!!! to decide you didn’t want it.I took it out afterwards suprise suprise no brake judder whatsoever all you did was mess us about.
Asked if car had accident damage,told no,it has.Electric belt very very loose,,rear ramp not secure,whoever pol,ished it,very poor,did not remove properly.Very dissapointed
KEVIN in response to Would not deal again
This is the VERY LAST TIME i will do a home test drive .this particular test drive was 4h and 16mins and a 145 miles away without a holding deposit,as for the electric belt being loose they are meant to be loose until you turn the switch on to hold it into place, these wheelchair access cars are all conversions and the ramps do make a bit of noise.I see he forgets in his review to talk about his part exchange,it was meant to have a FULL service history,in fact it had ONE service bill and the engine management light was on,it cost quite a lot to rectify, the problem was linked to the turbo, and as "for we left a bit of polish on his car",we are so sorry, its a pity that their is not a website to review customers. No more home test drives!
dale dixon in response to Would not deal again
You told me it took 2 not 4 hours,if suposed to be loose, why is the other elec belt secure?.As i said before PDC very poor, never again
Dave was helpful very good part exchange smooth and fair
