Purchased a 2015 Audi A4 Avant from Nic at Barclay Wood Motor Co in January 2023. The garage appeared to be helpful initially with early issues such as the cruise control not working, however, this was never rectified despite a lengthy stay with their mechanic, nor was I paid back for a visit to a garage local to me as agreed after. The car had smoked a little since I picked it up and the exhaust tip went black quite quickly but unfortunately, with this being my first diesel, I didn't think this was an issue as the car may have stood for a while etc. The turbocharger failed two months after purchase and was replaced under warranty, however when the car was returned to me it was producing a lot of black smoke under acceleration. It later transpires that the DPF has had it's internals removed and the car remapped to cover this. At the time, I mentioned the smoke to the mechanic appointed by the garage to replace the turbo charger, who then spoke to Nic and called me back and quoted Nic as saying he wasn't interested and "had spent enough on the car already". I am now left with a car with a whole host of issues, that is completely unable to get an MOT. It has then been off the road for over a year while various garages have tried to see how to solve issues caused by carbon clogging up the engine - something they have said has been caused by the low pressure EGR recirculating the exhaust gas post DPF into the engine (as it should, but with the particulate filter in place). I paid £10,600 for this car as a reliable, economical and future proof Euro 6 car and it is now worth a maximum of £2,000 as scrap which is obviously causing an immense amount of stress. I have spent over £1,000 on diagnostics and investigations alone and face potential repair bills of the same value of the car with no support or acknowledgment from the seller. I have had no contact from Barclay Wood Motor Co since May 2023, despite calls, emails and two recorded delivery letters. I would of course not hesitate in recommending avoiding Barclay Wood Motor Co at all costs.

I recently bought a grey Nissan Juke from here, which was faulty from the get go. I was assured it'd be fine to drive away in a few days, which it did drive away, however after a few days of having it, it completely died leaving me dangerously stranded, as they hadnt fixed the faults. After contacting Barclay Wood, they collected the car to be fixed, then ghosted me. I called, texted, emailed, WhatsApped and finally had to result to writing to them under the instruction of Citizens Advice as they had my car, the money and the part Ex'd car I'd traded in with them to buy this (although over the phone and to my face they told me they'd sold it, but they hadn't!) As he doesn't reply. Finally I did receive a refund for it but it's been a very stressful and long drawn out process such an awful situation to be left in, not what you'd expect from a garage with a fairly new car (2016 plate (LX16). Please go elsewhere if you want a decent car with customer service!

My daughter purchased a car from this business ( Nic Barclay wood) back in February, The heater wasn’t working, he knew this as he drove it to our home with a big coat and hat on! The cause of this amongst many other issues was the head gasket! After trying to contact him with no avail, ignoring our phone calls, we finally got in touch using a friends mobile and after threatening legal action he did get a mechanic to fix the head gasket, my daughter was without a car for two months, no compensation offered or another vehicle offered. The car still has numerous problems, my daughter is on a low income with a young baby and the £3500 she paid for the vehicle was alot of money for her. We have also been told by our mechanic that the car was unsafe to drive , yet Mr. Wood was happy to let her drive away with her young baby. I am disgusted at the way this man runs a business. It seems he is only interested in the big money making cars on his forecourt. . Please avoid this very dodgy salesman if you want a decent vehicle and good customer care.
Purchased a BMW around 3 months ago from the owner and am still very happy. Car is functioning perfectly, no hard sell at all and I'd definitely purchase a car from them again in the future

I found Nick to be honest, not pushy, and easy to talk to about the part exchange I required.

I have just purchased a Nissan Juke from Barclay Wood Motor Co and I can't recommend them enough. The team were helpful from start to finish and even offered me £400 more for my part exchange than my local dealer. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again.

Purchased a car from Barclay Motor Company and it was an absolute shambles from start to finish had to chase them numerous times to find out when i could collect it. MOT was delayed, again i had to chase them. Was told numerous times someone would call me, they didn't. Then battery went flat and left me stranded had to get the AA out to replace it, the guy said they should never have sold me a car with a battery that old. A week later Aircon belt packed in, cost me £500.00, just waiting for the next thing to go wrong. Having read the other negative reviews I experience a very similar service and should have avoided them. How a company can run with the level of service they provide is beyond me.
I purchased mini hatch cooper from Barclay Wood Motor Co in Feb this year. The service was pretty good whilst in the process of purchasing the vehicle. Unfortunately, just after 2,5 months of owning the car it started to show significant problems. The overall process of customer service was very poor and the dealer tried to get away with the issues by blaming the cars mileage, age and apparently the car is not suitable for first time drivers so it is my own fault. On another note, as soon as I mentioned my consumer rights he got rather temperamental and threatened me with completely irrelevant subject so I wouldn’t take the case any further. Does that sound right? If I knew that the car is going to last me 2 months I would have not spent £2000!!! The experience is actually shocking. I lost money and of course trust. As first time buyer I purchased the car based on good online reviews and I thought if any problems occur I could go back to the dealer. That is the reason I paid more for the car than the current market value for the vehicle. The dealer needs to learn to be less arrogant and stay professional. I felt that he has very little manners and was rather aggressive towards my problems. Be aware first time drivers and make sure you bring some professionals with you prior making big purchases. Very disappointed with the faults that is going to cost me great money and shocking customer service. Be aware people don’t make judgment based only on 5star reviews that seemed to be on their social platforms.

For the initial contact with the company, the information provided regading our enquiry was prompt and concise. As we were some distance from the dealership a holding deposit was requested and the vehicle was removed from advertisments which I felt was a profesional approach to business. When we arrived all the staff were polite and welcoming. The vehicle was clean and and in the condition described, the engine bay had not been valeted but personaly I have no problem with this as any oil leaks would have been visable. We are very pleased with the purchase at a competative price and would recommend the dealership. Thank you Nick and Chris for your help.
Big Thankyou to Nic and Chris at Barclay Wood, excellent service and the car was immaculate. Would recommenced to others and do business with again, keep up the good work guys! Ant.
