I recently sold my Landrover Defender to Barnfield Cars. The dialogue was open and honest with a full rationale behind the value for purchasing the car. The communications were frequent and helpful, which gave me lots on confidence in Barnfield. And the eventual sale and arrangements for the pick up of the vehicle went exactly as planned. My existing financial arrangements were dealt with without any fuss and payment received exactly as agreed. Overall I would recommend Barnfield as a great company to do business with. Eldon was a pleasure to sell to.

After Barnfield cars purchased my car and requesting to take all the documentation for the car. I have now received £80 penalty as Barnfield Cars did not tell the DVLA that they had purchased it. I would not have minded if they had not insisted on taking the documentation and said they would do the paperwork. If anyone else is thinking of using this company please do NOT allow them to handle any documentation on your behalf.

I collected a Range Rover on December 16th from Barnfield Cars and would like to congratulate them on the presentation standards of the vehicle. Having stepped out of the main dealer buying cycle and, for the first time, went to a specialist I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the entire process. The Range was both mechanically and cosmetically prepared with a document folder of a complete maintenance history, they also offered me an optional free AA or RAC inspection, although not needed as the car is as good as new. I had one tiny issue with the split TV screen but it was my error and not a fault of the car but even so they answered my query within minutes of emailing them. They have a lovely private showroom and have some rather nice cars all displayed under sharp lighting and heated. Loving the car and the service from the team in Chesterfield.

I bought a car a year ago from Barnfield Cars and found the low gears were very stiff. I took it to the dealer and they said there was air in the clutch fluid and the shifter was misaligned. Luckily it only cost me 250 pounds. I honestly thought the gear box was shot which would have cost 15k as a high prestige car. I took it for a service and they said the second key was not programmed ( another 500 pounds). They also said there was very bad salt corrosion on the alloys ( inside) and if they were not shot blasted and re painted they would get really bad, ( 700 pounds). They also said the shocks were very badly corroded and would need to be reviewed annually. Now the car was 8 years old, but I paid top price and one of their recommended garages did an inspection. None of these faults were mentioned.... So, my advice is always take the motor to a dealer for a full independent and thorough inspection before making an offer. Don't use the garage next door.

Very good experience buying from Barnfield Cars, nothing was too much trouble and felt most welcome. They seem to focus on 1 owner cars with a complete main dealer service history and openly invited me to view all the documentation prior to test drive. I took them up on their finance as well which went through Black Horse who are actually Land Rover finance which was great as I bought a Range Rover from them. The car was presented well upon collection and had fuel in it (something I didn't get when I bought a brand new car 2 years ago!) Thanks chaps.

Great experience in Bakewell at Barnfield Cars, quite a clever set up within a lovely setting, although no showroom but it didn't matter as I was more focused on finding the right car at the right price. The owner (Eldon) jokingly said to me that "if I wanted to drive the car out of a glass showroom with some hotel lift music in the background he would happily charge me a main dealer price", he also reminded that most main dealer cars are on a forecourt and not in a showroom anyway, good point. I had a little finance on the car that was swiftly organised at a very good rate, the rate was at least 4% cheaper than the Audi garage could offer and the car was about £1700 cheaper as well so I saved a few thousand in total. I would describe the business as bespoke, genuine, honest and nothing was to much trouble. The only critique I would make would say, although the engine bay was clean but not a pristine as the car, Eldon did explain that they don't willingly jet wash under the bonnet as it can cause electrical faults. All in all nice people, great location and good deal so happy chappy
