I found the car I wanted on Autotrader and arranged to go and see it. Afterwards I Googled this site and was put off. To be fair on the Benedicts I rang them to say why I would not be coming. They said why not have a look at Autrader's reviews and I was very pleased I did. This is the review I posted with them a week after buying the car Altogether a pleasant experience. When I visited I was shown the car by Mark and took it for a drive. He went carefully though all the service records etc. and allowed me plenty of time to look at them myself so I felt confident I had missed nothing. I went away to think overnight and then rang the next day a put a deposit on the car. I returned next day to collect it and again was carefully taken through all the documentation by Mark. I bought a 3 year RAC warrantee so given its main dealer service record, current rust warrantee, HPI provide by them and 5 month old MOT I feel well covered. The car, a Mazda MX5, four and a half years old, 10,000 miles on clock, one owner is an absolute joy, and after a week of driving it I have found nothing that disappoints me. I am so pleased I went to see it.

Not every person has the money to pay £10000 for a car, but when a car is advertised as a cheap trade in for £1500 and advertised as clean for year and in good condition, then that is what you would expect to see, but when you turn up and see damaged panels, no water in the engine, oil below min, brake fluid well below min, problems with the pullys on the engine causing noise, interior looked like cattle had been kept in it. and then when we mentioned to the manager that there was a few issues with the car, his reply was well the trouble is you people turn up hear wanting a good car for nothing? take it or leave it, after all what do you expect for £1500, you cant buy a bcycle for that now? well my answer to you is, i do not like to be spoke to like something stuck on the bottom of a farmers boot, i do exspect a car that is safe to be on the road, and by looking at the front brake disc pads, it should not have been, this may explain why the fluid in the brake fluid tank was empty. your reply was disgusting. your attitude was disgusting, it was quite plain to see that in your eyes we were just working class persons on a budget, so because we did not have £10000 to spend you could not be bothered, and you made this 100% clear. thank you Benedicts of Bristol.

Thank you for taking the trouble to write a review.I am disappointed that your buying experience fell short of your expectations.However,I feel I must take issue with your version of events.You rang on Friday afternoon and asked to view the car early Saturday morning.I explained that the car had only recently arrived on site and had not been cleaned.You replied that was fine,and asked to leave a deposit to reserve the car.You and a colleague arrived before we were open but one of our staff found the keys and let you carry on looking.You expressed to me that although it was cheap there were items that needed renewing and asked if I would reduce the price.I said I was not prepared to do that.You both left the premises.The conversation was good humoured with banter between the 3 of us.
After purchasing a BMW Coupe from Benedicts in May I was initially faced with a lot of issues. The week I purchased the car the engine light came on, so naturally I returned it to the garage. Initially their stance was you pay half and we will pay half or alternatively bring it back and we will fix it. I did take it back to them, however after previously being stung by another car dealer in previous years I didn't hold out much hope. After the first repair (that they paid for) the car failed again shortly after. I then contacted Ben who asked me to bring it back to put it in with their specialists. I returned it to them in June to have further work done. They did keep it for a month, however this was due to their mechanics re locating but they loaned me a courtesy car. Unfortunately after £1300 worth of work the car failed again! Therefore I contacted Ben and he explained that I could take it back to the specialist, which I did! After getting it back the other day things seem to have gone well! It hasn't been the most ideal situation, however I don't think it could have been predicted. Ben at Benedicts has been quick to respond everytime I have had an issue and has covered the cost of repair each time it went in staying true to his word (I reckon in total the work has amounted to about £2500) Ben is a good guy, and after being stung by a massive prick in previous years Ben has managed to restore my faith in humanity. In my opinion Bob is unreliable, fails to reply to messages and fobs you off. In summary I don't feel that Benedicts could have done anything better as they did everything the could. The moral of the story is, don't buy a German car! I've had 4 and they have all managed to pull my pants down!

They caused horrendous problems to my husband and myself, their website should be reported to the trade descriptions act, they clearly have no garage as displayed, and operate out of a industrial unit. Once they've got your money, when complaining you no longer exist, beware as they will fob you off with excuses after excuses, but do nothing to solve the problem, beware they do not attempt to drag out your time limitation of 30 days when making a complaint, under the new 2015 Consumers Trade Act. My advice and my husband's; give them a wide berth and make sure everyone knows about them.
