I had a faulty NOX sensor that came up at MOT so asked for a quote for the parts and fitting cost - £1319 was the answer!!! The part seems to be £149 so I rang Marc in the parts department to confirm the part number for my vehicle which they have on their computer system. He refused to supply the part number and promptly hung up on me despite my having used this garage previously for warranty work. He said if I had the number I could go elsewhere for the work so wouldn't supply it - perhaps embarrased that their quote will be found out as way over priced I suspect !! - unbelievably poor service, ridiculously expensive prices and my last use of B V Rees at Cardigan - what a rip off and an extraordinary approach to customer care.

Wyn Rees from BV Rees Ltd in response to Shocking customer service

I am quite amazed that people are allowed to provide totally fictional stories and reviews about businesses, but I'm happy to provide the truth about the incident. Firstly, as Mr Michelmor is fully aware, (as we have copies of the email trail) the cost of the NOX sensor is not £149, but £477.32 for one and £459.31 for the other (all genuine manufacturer parts). Therefore, the parts content of the repair is virtually £1000, with the remainder being labour and VAT. We can not and will not provide part numbers, as, if the incorrect part number is supplied and a safety related issue materialises due to incorrect parts, we could be liable. Please remember that in this case, our workshop did not diagnose the fault - we were told by the customer what was required. As we record our telephone conversations, again a fictional story from Mr Michelmore, as our Parts Manager, Mark, DID NOT promptly hang up on the call. Our dealership takes customer care extremely seriously (multi award winning for the last 75+ years) and we are extremely upset when reviews like this are posted that give a totally unfair and untrue reflection of the business. Finally, I hope that Mr Michelmore has many happy, trouble free years of motoring in the motorhome.

This place has changed from the trustworthy traditional garage to being extortionate prices! £2k for a clutch replacement. The answer from the owner was that mechanics want £40k these days! Well they aren’t doing their job for that wage. My car had to go in again the next day after manifold replaced an engine fault appeared due to the work carried out. They wanted £900 for service, mot and manifold replacement. I got a call before they brought my car bk to ask if i could pay before 5.30. I was driving bk from work. My local garage give us 30 days after the work. What was the rush?

In my opinion/experience, this firm seems to have a two-MoT policy; one to sell cars on forecourt (lax, cost of replacement parts knocks £600/£800 off profits) and one for owners (rigorous); new owner pays for parts when it comes back in. I bought a car and have had nothing but trouble with it since: dashboard lights coming on, rear light cluster full of water, fuel cap stuck shut, internal buzzing, and, more important...rumbling steering which was brought to their attention in the first two weeks of ownership and this they failed to acknowledge, I believe, because this would have cost them a lot under their guarantee. Now, however, after ONLY 10 MONTHS ownership it transpires that, I DO have a front ‘bush’ that is worn ‘excessively’ (remember the rumble spotted after two weeks, above?) and a rear spring that is fractured/broken and it has now failed the MoT! This, after three, REALLY, arduous trips to Haverfordwest, Carmarthen and Aberystwyth and only local trips. Either my car is made of marshmallow or this firm (far be it from me to say who) is being economical with their assessment and is trying to recoup the money for some of the nicey-nicey (obligatory) gestures made during the warranty period and is now getting the major faults and parts replaced at MY expense which, in my opinion, were deliberately ignored under the warranty period and should have been replaced by THEM. When confronted, the owner adopted what can only be described as a thoroughly patronising, smug attitude that was impenetrable but... didn’t deny any of the above points put to him. Perhaps - and this is just a suggestion based on my experience with the previous, this firm is to be AVOIDED. If not, as soon as you purchase your vehicle, get it MoT’d a SECOND time immediately someone independent and within the warranty period. It would have saved me £812 and could save you a lot of money. You know it could make sense.

We called about a Fiat Tipo they had on autotrader. Garage was over 200 miles away from us so always scary buying from away. It was a pleasure from the first phone call to when it got delivered to us. Iwan made life so easy and no stress. It got delivered for £199 and quite honestly it would have cost us more in fuel to come and get it. We are even contemplating bringing the car down for it's yearly service and having a mini break in West Wales at the same time. Thank you once again.

Bought a car recently and, apart from excellent service from the sales staff and being exactly on time with the vehicle, they solved a panic whenthe battery went completely flat within two days. It was my fault through not knowing the 'tech specs' of such a new car but the firm sent out a mechanic on a Saturday morning and fixed it within a few minutes. Absolutely faultless: and the provision of a little present upon purchase of the vehicle went a long way, superb PR.

I recently went to undertake a test drive with a friend as she felt she needed support. We were looking at an £8000.00 Ssangyong Tivoli 2015. Inspecting the car on the forecourt it was apparent that both front and rear tyres on the passenger side were split and one of the alloy wheels was damaged. The salesman feigned ignorance and then informed us that we could refurbish the wheels. Then he invited us to take the car for a road test. Considering the state of the tyres I drove slowly to the nearest car park to inspect the car more thoroughly. The car had been subject to a full respray; there was overspray on the bumpers and wheel arch trims, and paint runs on the door handle recesses. Along with the tyre and wheel damage this was an £8000 car that needed to be avoided. The salesman merely replied to this information with the sentence, “That’s a fair point”. Ssangyong headquarters were informed and photographs of the state of the vehicle were submitted. However, being only a franchise the team can pretty much do what they want and get away with it. Do not buy secondhand vehicles here. The team are not to be trusted.

Having first purchased a new vehicle from B V Rees over 40 years ago I recently returned having flirted with Toyota. The service from sales to service is first class, from a family company. Our family have two cars both supplied by this garage. One now fairly ancient and one almost new. Both purchasing experiences were excellent, and after care service without fault. The benefit of dealing with a small local family run company who are held in high regard in the area.

The car was advertised with mileage lower than it actually was. Also advertised that lots of work had been done that hadn't been...eg alternator changed, no it hadn't. The car was also advertised with a new mot but had a blowing, rotten exhaust and a broken suspension spring.

Totally sympathise with you; wish I'd seen this review first. Seems to be two types of MoT, as I've said.
