The company really does not fill you with any confidence. We had issues when we went to collect and all the sales team and sales manager could do was to blame each other. It was really unprofessional!! We went to collect the car it hadn’t been cleaned, checked and a large part was missing. We took it after some assurances it would be order. Got them to write it on the contract. 8 weeks later we are still waiting.

We purchased a Citroen C4 Picasso from Car World in May 2024. The car was due a service and oil change which we paid car world to carry out on the day of purchase. The problems started on my home from the garage. The tyre pressure light came on and the tyre was flat by the evening. This later turned out to be a blocked valve. A week later the key fob stopped working and the service light came on. Thinking this was a simple fix I changed the battery. The key intermittently worked. I was unable to try a spare key as the car only came with one. Over the course of the next few weeks the problems became worse to the point where the car wouldn’t turn on. We had a diagnostic test done by RAC breakdown who confirmed several faults with the car. We realised we were within our 30 days to reject the car under the consumer rights act. We emailed car world to reject the car. We were contacted by Steph who said we needed to prove the car was faulty, even though we already had our diagnostic report from RAC. We paid for another diagnostic test by RAC breakdown and this produced similar findings. Steph suggested that we have the car looked at by a local locksmith. We agreed to this but still said we still wished to reject the car. The locksmith suggested it was a problem with the fuse box, but he wasn’t sure. We didn’t have a great deal of confidence in his ability to carry out the repair and it felt like we were being fobbed off with a bodged repair. So we confirmed to Steph, again that we wanted to reject the vehicle. The following day we received an email from Steph to say that as a repair had already started they were unable to refund us our money. We were fuming as no repair had started. We spent a further week having our emails and phone calls ignored or being subjected to bullying and intimidation by car world. Eventually Steph agreed for me to return the car, but at my expense. We paid for the car to be towed to car world (as it wouldn’t start). They had it on their garage for a further two weeks, again I had to call and email daily to get updates on the so called assessment process. It got to the point where I said I would be visiting the showroom in person and we sent a letter before court action. This seamed to get things moving, the following day they gave us a partial refund. They said they had to replace the starting switch- good thing we hadn’t gone ahead with the fuse box repair! However we were out of pocket for a number of costs associated with returning the car- the oil/filter service, towing, RAC diagnostic test and incurred taxi fare. They also charged us for a £84 valet and deducted a few hundred pounds for 30 days of mileage! We asked for a refund of these costs to which we had no reply. Therefore we commenced small claims court action. They were given two weeks to respond, they then asked for an extension of time! It went to mediation where they offered us less than half our money back. We did not accept the offer so proceeded to go to court. Shortly after the mediation I got a call from Step with an offer not far off our number. So we settled out of court. The whole process has been incredibly inconvenient for my family. We were without a car for over a month. Car world acted in a dishonest and malicious manner. If you’re reading this and going through a similar battle- keep fighting!

The most obnoxious company I have ever dealt with. My daughter was looking for her first car and we spotted a nice looking Citroen C1, this car had a couple of features on that were quite rare, reversing camera and satnav, so I rang to confirm the details and was assured it had these features. I paid the £99 deposit and arranged a day and we made the 220 mile round trip. Firstly the car was in great condition, but clearly did not have the two features that had been confirmed previously. This seems to be a regular occurrence according to other reviews. We agreed on £100 discount and purchased the car. This is where the problems begin, we needed the car delivering asap but the earliest time was to be the following Monday and the delivery company would ring on Friday to confirm a time, they didn't and I had to phone Carworld to see what was going on. The sales person made some phone calls and came back to me with a delivery on Tuesday, I told him this would have to be after 3pm as my daughter was working, he confirmed this after another quick phone call and said that the delivery person would call an hour before arrival and would need to catch the 15:25 train back to Peterborough but would make his own way to the station. Well Tuesday came and at 10:30am I received several phone calls and texts, none of which I could reply to as I was in a meeting, from my daughters step father. When I rang him back he told me that the car had been delivered and he had just had to drop the delivery driver off at the station. I had to book a speedy half day holiday and go move and check the car over. The car was fine, the delivery was far from what I paid for. It was only luck that someone was in or I suppose he would just have put the keys through the letterbox. Here starts the trail of lies and obnoxious behaviour, starting from a phone call to the dealership where I rang to ask what went wrong with the delivery, I was eventually passed to the Showroom manager, the most obnoxious overbearing person I have ever spoken to, clearly he never went on the customer service course, constantly talks over the top of you. I wished the dealership had been more local, a face to face with this man would have been beneficial. He initially phoned my daughter before I contacted him and was rude to her too. He requested to give him till Friday to do his due diligence and he would ring me back with the results, he agreed the service was not up to standard and not acceptable. He never phoned back, surprise surprise. Then follows 3 weeks of phone calls from myself to try and contact him, various excuses and false promises of a call back, until today. He wasn't aware of any previous phone calls, he doesn't have to phone customers back, even though that's what he said he would do, he gave the information to the sales person and they should've phoned me back, so after a very heated conversation with this obnoxious person he passed the phone to the sales person for him to explain, it clearly became apparent that no due diligence had been done, in fact nothing had been done, the sales person had nothing to tell me and for most of the time he had nothing to say. I asked for the so called showroom manager to be put back on, and he'd left. I requested £100 refund for the delivery, less than half of what I paid, to cover the extremely bad experience and my half day holiday, they phoned me back half an hour later and refused, nothing they can do. SO, if I were you, and I didn't do this, read the reviews, this company is shocking, shoddy and downright rude and offensive, they clearly do not take responsibility for anything. Buy a car from somewhere else that values customer service not from this lot, they clearly do not care about their reputation.

CARWORLD PETERBOROUGH: Avoid at all costs, would give zero stars if I could!! Absolutely SHOCKING customer service and a sham of a company to deal with. Made an appointment to view a car, turned up after travelling over 100 miles only to be told that the car had been sold 2 days ago. You would have thought decent customer service would be to call the customer up and explain the car they had an appointment to view had been sold and not to make a wasted journey to see something that wasn't available. When I explained this to them, I was told that I should have reserved the car with a £99 deposit... really, is it not common courtesy to let a customer know who has an appointment to view a car that its no longer available?! I feel like I may have had a lucky escape from buying a car from these cowboys reading some of the reviews on here!!

I went into carworld on several occasions looking for a good towing car for our caravan and on this particular day we had a look at a Volvo V90 and it was right on the maximum towing limit, and told the salesman it was not right for us as we need to tow at least 2000kg not 1800, he asked me to go back in a little while and he would look to see what they have to suit my needs. When I got back he pulled up some info on google and said that this Volvo would do the job I require and would pull 2500kg, so I trusted his judgement. We were told that the car had, had new brakes discs and pads all the way around but had no recent service, so I requested a service be done at an additional £400 before we collect the car. After 2 hours, I went back to collect the car and before being handed the keys, I asked if it had all been done and ready to be told yes it is ready and done. This is where I sat in the car for a few minutes to check through all the paperwork and the service manual, to see that the book had not been stamped, so I went back in to question this, and this is where no one seemed to know anything about any service that was meant to be done, and the excuses that came were is that they thought it had been done and also that they forgot and then they ran out of time or did not have the time, so leaving me with no option to take the car, as we were away for the weekend. Upon driving the car, I began to notice a judder in the brakes and when I got home, I see that the car had not had new discs and pads all the way around at all. I took the car back to Carworld and told them that I did not want the car back under any circumstances and wanted my old car back that I used as a deposit, to be told that it had already been disposed of and sent to auction, as both sets of keys had gone, so the car was not on the premises and gone as they get rid of them. Even so I asked for a different likeness to my Sportage, to be told ok we will sort something out with the sales manager. After many hours of waiting around like an idiot, I was handed back the keys and told there you go, the car has had new discs and pads put on the front and I said I don't want the car back under my right to cancel, only to be told that there is nothing now wrong with the car and I have signed the paperwork, so the car is mine and that's how it is. I have also found that I was 100% correct when I said about the car's towing capacity and that it would not be good enough for what we need, so the sales person sold us the car under misrepresentation, using the information from a similar Volvo, that being the V90 cross country B5 ours is a V90 D4. So I have now been in touch with the finance company about this to cancel the finance agreement under the 14 day cooling off period and the 30 day consumer act. Since doing this I have been back on the Carworld website to see if there is anything else to consider if given the option, only to see our Sportage that they said that they had disposed of up for sale, this has now added salt into an already sore wound. I am now also going to go onto the .GOV.UK website to forearm myself with a writ to take this to the small claims court as this company is just a bunch of liars and cheats that will do anything to get a sale and then cover up there deceit

I am deeply disappointed with my recent experience at [Dealership Name]. After purchasing a Citroën C4 Grand Picasso, I encountered serious problems such as an oil leak and a defective alternator and drive belts. Despite these significant issues occurring within two weeks of purchase, my request for a refund based on the Consumer Rights Act 2015 was denied.
Carworld sold us a faulty car that needed up causing a horrific crash and they are now in the process of being sued! Please do not buy from these cowboys, you will regret it!

Awful after sales. Issues identified with car within first week not rectified. No communication. No help. No call-backs. Struggling to even give the car back and get my money back. My next step is to camp out at the office as a last resort.

I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Carworld Superstore in Peterborough, a dealership that not only lacks integrity but has clearly discarded the essence of customer service. I reserved a car that seemed to meet all my requirements. It came complete with a 5th alloy wheel, inflation kit, and essential tools all neatly packed in the boot. However, this initial joy and satisfaction quickly descended into a pit of frustration and disappointment. On the day of pick-up, after a laborious process of paper filling and gaining approvals from the finance company, I was eager to transfer my belongings from my trade-in car into my new acquisition. To my shock and disbelief, everything that was initially in the boot was missing! Stuart, the finance manager, epitomized rudeness and arrogance. Instead of addressing the issue with professionalism and courtesy, he was argumentative and dismissive. His pushy demeanour left us with two options - endure the missing items or revert the entire process, an ordeal that would consume another chunk of our valuable time. Reluctantly, we accepted the car. However, our woes were far from over. Merely two weeks later, the car broke down. The stress and disappointment boiled over, and I requested a full refund and the return of my old car which had gone into trade-in. My shock intensified when I discovered my old car listed on their website for sale. However, upon my request to have it back, it magically disappeared from the website, and I was informed it had been sent to an auction. I was plunged into days of tears and stress, a traumatic experience I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. After incessant pushing and immense emotional turmoil, they refunded the money, a painful £3000 less than what they had listed my old car for on their website. This financial loss, coupled with the atrocious service and blatant lies, made this experience a nightmare. A month later, the refund finally reflected with the finance company. I was left carless, betrayed, and emotionally drained. As a piercing blow to my ordeal, my old car mysteriously reappeared on their website for sale – a stark testimony to the dishonesty rife within Carworld Superstore. I pen this review as a warning to others who may be lured by the superficial charm of Carworld Superstore in Peterborough. Beneath the shiny exterior lies a den of deceit, unprofessionalism, and utter disregard for the valued customer. I have lost an immense amount of tears, energy, and faith in humanity trying to reclaim what's rightfully mine. Carworld Superstore, you’ve not only lost a customer but earned an advocate for the stark warning against stepping a foot in your establishment. Shame on you!
