bought a bmw 1 series from caralot april-ish 2015. very laid back, very friendly. knowledge of the car was good. although due to technicalities with mot they forgot to inform me the rear wiper did not work (it was a sunny day so no need to use it on test drive). no pressure to buy, but i placed the refundable deposit on as i liked the car so much. returned within the week to pay for it, went through smoothly. was informed the private plate was in the middle of a carriage transfer so no paperwork (v5 log book) was available but will send out in the next couple of weeks. drove the car away. contacted caralot 3 weeks later to ask about the paperwork, was told they still hadnt received it from the previous owner, but the owner was a 'friend' of one of the members of staff, so they would get on to it. a month later i contacted them, still no paperwork. the co-owner gave me his personal number to help get this sorted. it turned out that this 'friend' had moved house and the paperwork went to his old address. this went on for 7-8months, until finally the log book was received. private plate was registered in my name (assumed the previous owner didnt want it). a letter from the dvla 2 weeks later explaining there was a mistake, need to return the log book with £80 cheque (which caralot supplied) back to dvla so the original plates can be registered to the car. something went wrong with the cheque, so i contacted caralot explaining, to which the customer service team told me they would sort it and get back to me (december 2015) since then i have not had any contact with caralot. i still own the plate. also the turbo went on the car, due to a filter that was MISSING. if you buy from caralot take a mechanic or friend who knows his stuff before signing anything, the car service they do is very basic. the car was also sold with a slow puncture in 1 of the tyres. conclusion- this car provides good service when buying a car but do not expect any contact after that. if anything goes wrong the likelihood is you will not hear from them.

I bought a 5 series BMW,in May 2016.. The car was exactly as described. I raised a few issues about paintwork on the wing mirror,and fixing the advisories shown on the mot document..These were fixed promptly. The salesman,Duncan, was very helpful. Caralot even did all my cherished number plate transfer paperwork. They did a fresh 12 month MOT,with a service.I was very happy with the car and their service, and would happily recommend this garage to my family and friends.
The car was not cleaned properly inside and out, also was advertised as having full service history and then I found out that it had missed a vital oil change service of the automatic gearbox which had started to play up. Caralot have tried to get the car fixed locally twice but when thay were told it needed a new gearbox by ford they pulled the car out of the garage. Two weeks of no contact from caralot I took the car to a DSG gearbox specialist and they told me it required a new clutch and recommended the gearbox be rebuilt as it missed a vital oil change. 10 weeks later they were supposed to pick the car up on Tuesday and failed to do so and now still waiting for them to come back to me as I would like my money back.
I bought an insignia over two years ago from caralot. Not only was the service first class but the car is one of the best I have owned and has never missed a beat. The after sales service is second to none and nothing was too much trouble for them. I would definitely recommend this dealer.
I drove 2 hours to Derby from Oxfordshire to view car that had been fantasticly advertised when I arrived at no point did any salesmen approach me so we found the car ourselves which was tucked away in corner on a muddy patch of ground. The car was described as loved by previous owners and how lucky they were to buy this car from main dealer. This car was very tatty and at £6500 and not as described be very careful would definitely not recommend catalog more like notelets.
We have used Caralot previously, with hardly any issues! Well apart from driving away a vehicle when finance hadn't been confirmed 100% there end!! But that's to be left as another story! We returned to Caralot in January, this year, benefit of the doubt and all that! We got to test drive the vehicle that we were interested in (apart from the cloth interior needing a good clean and a couple of paint chips on the rear bumper needed sorting) we were impressed with how the vehicle performed on the test drive. We agreed to purchase the car and left £100 deposit. Now from what we were made aware, Caralot were going to try our current finance company, only! We waited almost 3 days and everytime I rang, we kept being fobbed off (Not a happy person at this point) When we finally got an answer (A decline, which is probably down to the fact we were trying to carry a little to much negative equity over from our current vehicle) it turned out, not only 1 finance company had been approached, a finance broker had been contacted and god knows how many companies have been tried, which has obviously done my husbands credit rating the world of good.....NOT!! Today we received the cheque, from our deposit, now most put a compliment slip in with them, not this, plain cheque with no thanks, no nothing! We will definitely steering clear from now on, we'll and truly learnt our lesson.

Avoid at all costs. Cars are not as described and all they're bothered about is taking your £100 deposit. Total waste of time.
