Purchased a car from Carbase Bristol on 19.03.18 with £1k RAC warranty. Problems occurred on 7th June with red warning light of a water coolant error , Dipped into our warranty after RAC roadside breakdown indicated water pump. Had this repaired on 18.06.18, The problem immediately came back with same warning light , So called RAC breakdown again .They didnt understand why ! & suggested taking it back to the garage.The garage could not explain & suggested taking it to specialist Volvo garage .We contacted Warranty again & asked for help & was told that Volvo parts would be expensive & to source a cheaper garage !!!! My wife was near breaking point with a few days before our prebooked holiday on 25th June & NO CAR .! At this stage We consulted legal advise who advised us to make a log of the problems & talking to CARBASE BRISTOL , they also gave us our consumer rights with legal action to proceed if necessary & a letter of action. We were desperate to have our holiday so we decided to contact RAC Warranty in the first instance to try & get the car fixed , Afterall we had paid £1,000 for the warranty so believed that we were covered . 18th June contacted RAC warranty , explained problem again & they gave us an RAC approved garage in Glastonbury who struggled to find the fault after a days work , but they found out what was going on !!!! A Block Sealant Additive . Garage told us the shocking news & advised us to get back in touch with the RAC warranty & that we should be talking to CARBASE as it would be a major job .In his opinion this additive can have a lasting effect of up to 6 months & suggested it was used to mask a major problem of the car potentially the head gasket prior to our purchase. On the 21.06 .18 my wife emailed Carbase BRISTOL with an attachment of the log of events , she followed this up with a telephone call to him to explain the problems . My wife was in disbelief & broke down over the phone to him after he suggested that it could possibly been the garage that put block sealant in the engine , WHY would RAC approved garages do that knowing that the car would have been covered under the warranty & also it was the same warning light that came up as ,the same warning light prior to the water pump change. There was no offer of comforting words from him . My wife was inconsolable during the conversation with him , stressing that we had no car , a holiday imminent , living in a rural location , having to rely on family for transport , even having to do online grocery shopping as we have no means of transport to this day NOW 13th JULY. There was no comforting words of a solution from TYLER JONES , So she spoke to the Warranty again & apparently Carbase had been in contact with them , by all accounts he even suggested to them that the block sealant was used by the garages we had used , We were absolutely appalled by this remark & the Warranty told us this was absolutely impossible due to the nature of the fault in the engine system.On the 22.06.18 the warranty agreed to cover costs under our policy for a max of £350 for a weeks car hire to get us on holiday .We had to pay an extra £200 to enable us to have a medium size comfortable car to seat 4 us travelling with luggage rather than the bottom deal of a Smart Car .ITS NOW THE 13th JULY , we have had no phone call from CARBASE OR THE RAC WARRANTY , THE CAR IS STILL IN THE GARAGE & we have no form of transport & we live in Rural Somerset in a village in Baltonsborough. After watching his clip on YOU TUBE about how CARBASE PRIDE THEMSELVES ON CUSTOMER SERVICE , I think he should revisit BRISTOL and ask some questions on HOW WE FEEL AT THE MOMENT having spent just short of £8k on their products & the lack of care received . Hi, I am considering buying a car from Carbase and would like to understand if they finally resolved your issues.
Bought a £9000 reg 15 plate car and it broke down 2 days later!only to find the front wiper blades were not even working.Called RAC breakdown but could not get patrol until 3 hours later.It would have meant I would have been stranded on a dark country road on my own untill 11pm!lucky enough I had an option of calling AA who arrived within an hour! I’m very appalled about the whole Carbase trading standards and their RAC service!!!Avoid Carbase Bristol if you can,it’s all about reaching targets and no customer satisfaction!

Do not buy a warranty from Car Base. The product they sell may be backed by the RAC but the sales team at Car Base misrepresent the product entirely, are not remotely familiar with the small print of the warranty and the warranty itself is not worth the paper it is written on. The whole system is a complete rip off and immoral; at best.

The service centre at CARBASE BRISTOL, very nearly cost me an absolute fortune in repairs, due to incompetence. Then tried to lie their way out of it! By trying to put transmission fluid into a auto box then either didn't put the filler cap back, or didn't fit it correctly! Either way, poor service. When I got a professional garage to put it right, carbase then decided to pay for the works carried out, so inadvertently admitting that they did make the mistake! I wouldn't let carbase fill my washer bottle, let alone service my car in the future. Buying the car wasn't much better, as they tried to sell me everything but the air I was breathing. Use a professional outfit if buying a car and not this sham!!

Despite being advertised as having service history and Carbase Bristol promising to forward the documents, nothing has been sent except a piece of paper indicating that Carbase had done an oil and filter change. At the age and mileage the car should have had a major service as a minimum. Carbase have ignored 2 letters asking for them to pay for a major service. So, deceptive advertising, broken promises, ignoring letters - Carbase Bristol are very good at taking your money, but don't expect anything after that.

Paid £250 deposit on a £10,000 car and ended up with no car because they refused to provide a second key with the vehicle. They tried to insist I pay extra for the second key, then they tell me my deposit is non refundable. The RAC 82 point checklist that they are suppose to go through to prepare the car for sale also states that keys and fobs should be present. If they are ignoring that on the checklist what else are they ignoring. I wouldn't just stay away from Carbase in Bristol, but any dealer endorsed by the RAC.

We came down to Carbase Bristol just to have a look at what cars were in our price range, then to our surprise we noticed one man that had helped us in the past to buy a car joe ramsey we started talking about changing our car to a newer one by the end of the day joe had helped us from start to finish about changing our car told us everything we needed to know how easy it was to change and with the help of emma the finance manager made our change of car go so smooth we love our new car and our new friends.
