We had a very negative experience with this company. We chose a car and scheduled a test drive for Sunday. The distance from our city to Bristol is more than 120 miles, i.e. 2.5 hours on the road. When we were on the way to Bristol and had already driven for 2 hours, we got a call saying that the car was sold, someone came in off the street and bought it. We were of course very disappointed and turned back. When we had driven 40 minutes back we got another call saying that the car was not actually sold but was reserved on their website so we could still look at it. Of course, we didn't agree and moved on towards home. A few minutes later we got another call saying that they had thought about it and if we were ready to buy the car, they would sell it to us and not to the person who had reserved it. Then we realised that this whole story was just to create an artificial hype around the car. Therefore, we do not recommend anyone to contact this company if you do not want to lose 4.5 hours on your day off and get a lot of negative emotions.
Carbase from Carbase Bristol in response to Bad experience
Hi Irina, we are sorry that your experience was not the best and we're looking in to how we can avoid this happening in the future. We recommend placing a refundable holding fee on any vehicle that you have your heart set on, this removes the vehicle from sale in order to give you time to view and approve of your choice. Please rest assured that we want you to enjoy the best service around and we definitely do not attempt to create artificial hype, as mentioned. We hope that you will still consider us for your future motoring needs. Best wishes
Mirgen was amazing from start to finish, answered all my questions and manged to sort out some of some concerns I had regarding the vehicle.

Carbase from Carbase Bristol in response to Grate service,
Hi Darren, thank you for sharing your excellent review, we are thrilled to know that you enjoyed your time with us! Best wishes
We bought our car from Carbase in March 2023. From start to finish the experience was nothing but stressful. The only reason we didn’t go somewhere else is because Carbase had the only car in the country in the spec that we wanted at the time. Our first visit was very positive with the sales representative helping us figure out which car would be suitable for us. On this trip our favourite car was a Volvo XC60 and on inspection we noticed that it had a flat tyre. When requesting a test drive I mentioned that the car has a flat tyre and was assured it would be addressed in time for the test drive. During the test drive we had to turn around and go back to the dealer early as the low tyre pressure sensor went off for the same tyre. During the conversation with a different sales representative, Hannah, we questioned the price of the car and the additional £250 fee for the owners club. We were told that the price is fixed and set by head office, and the owners club is a MANDATORY extra that we would have to buy if we bought the car. Again, we mentioned the flat tyre and that the tyre pressure sensor went off. We were also given a laughably low price for our current car as a part exchange. My wife actually laughed. We ended up selling it through motorway.com to a lovely local dealer for nearly £2,000 more than the quote from Carbase. We decided that we wanted the car, but needed assurances that the tyre would be properly fixed and that they would perform the MOT that was due, fix the advisories and give the car a service. As soon as this line had been crossed and we were asking for basic issues to be fixed, no one at Carbase could care less about making the sale and I was endlessly chasing up to just try and buy the damn thing. I never thought I’d be chasing a car sales team to buy a car!!! After more than 30 phone calls, no call backs and 2 in person visits attempting to get these very basic requests sorted, it turned out that most of them had already been done by the Carbase garage but their communication was so bad that no one knew. During these many phone calls I asked multiple times if the owners club was an optional extra rather than mandatory. I was told by two phone representatives that it was actually optional. When I told the sales representative this in person I was met with a shocked tone of “who told you that?!”, as if someone has let the cat out of the bag and they deliberately lie to consumers to get them to buy their pointless owners club. If you actually look at the ‘perks’ of the owners club you will see how utterly pointless it is. Soon after driving the car home the tyre pressure sensor went off again and upon a FREE inspection by Halfords, the flat tyre actually had a slow puncture! So Carbase only pumped the tyre up to make it seem like it was fixed… twice! One redeeming point was that we were reimbursed by Carbase for the puncture repair and a replacement battery, as they sold the car to us with an incorrect battery fitted. I shouldn’t have had to do any of this myself, though. It would have been sorted by a competent dealer. Carbase buy their cars blind, ripping off their client and then do the bare minimum, including a piss poor valet, before flipping them for as much as they can. Avoid at all costs.

Totally agree - similar experience and outright dishonesty in my view. The car we drove away was faulty and actually quite dangerous, and it is impossible to get through to anyone to sort things without hours of wasted calls. The air conditioning had a leak, but when they supposedly repaired it they obviously just put more gas in which promptly leaked out again! A tyre on the car was dangerous inside where we couldn't see, and this week we found that a plate underneath covering the engine was held up in the middle with tape, which just came off! Very, very angry with this company!
After having bought car from Carbase I wish I had looked at reviews first. They are absolutely amazing, fantastic, super at selling you a car. If you have any issues then good luck trying to get them to sort it out. Aftersales service is absolutely diabolical. Nobody EVER answers the phone . Then ring showroom and yet again same old story , man on phone is fed up giving excuses for aftersales team. There are plenty of other garages that will give better quality and service than this company.
Carbase in response to Disgusting aftersales service.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. Although we are very pleased to know that you found our service to be great, we are sorry that your aftersales experience has not been as satisfying. Approx, one month ago, we reported ongoing issues with a 66 plate focus, brought from THE LIARS @ £10,000 - ( £14,000 Finance Total ) - We had cause, within DAYS OF PURCHASE, to return the vehicle & were left to pursue “our problem“ with the Carbase garage “up the road”, by ourselves. After reporting “our problems” with the vehicle, we then had to push it some more, to get the matters resolved, after NO RESPONSE or FOLLOW UP, following our appearance in person. At the time of purchase, my daughter was also sold A LIFELONG paint protection deal. Now just 6 months after purchase, the paint ( especially around the bumpers & wheel arch areas has become thin:faded & peeling/chipping off, We immediately informed Carbase, but received NO RESPONSE. We then decided to write an online review, which brought about an immediate response from Carbase, asking us to get in touch. Upon doing so, we were told ‘The Case’ was in the hands of senior management. That was 2 weeks ago & we haven’t heard a sausage. My daughter dosnt have time to mess about. Eight years in the Alzheimer’s Care Field, she often works 12 shifts & a 15 hour shift isn’t uncommon. I would have expected more respect from a so-called leading company, like Carbase & the sad reality is my daughter, got stuck with A LEMON, & there is nothing she can do about it. Do not buy from these pretenders, operating as WLOVES IN LAMBS CLOTHING. Car dealers & dealerships are synonymous with the word SHARKS & now you can see why. Thank-You

Totally agree - mirrors my experience exactly - a very dishonest almost criminal firm!
Horrendous experience. This company will waste your time and money. I could not recommend staying further away from Carbase. Their customer service skills are awful and they're very rude unless it benefits them.

My experience at Carbase was poor. Sales team very friendly and responsive when selling but aftercare was shocking. I spent £25k on a vehicle which had corrosion on the bonnet and a poor accident repair to the drivers side doors. I bought this over the phone and was sent a video of the vehicle beforehand being assured of the condition. After delivery, I reported the issue within 24 hours and that’s when the Carbase team became difficult to get hold of. It took 10 days to agree for the vehicle to be returned (even though that’s within any consumers standard rights). On arrival at the branch to return the vehicle I was met by a sales team leader with a serious attitude, very dismissive and generally unhelpful, as if I was an inconvenience. I had to argue to get my deposit returned same day. I would recommend using another car dealer for your purchase and I’d certainly never use Carbase again.

Carbase from Carbase Bristol in response to I wouldn’t deal with Carbase again

Unfortunately, I will not purchase again. Car is great. But service was abysmal. I purchase cars frequently for company purposes and can not believe it. I only continued this purchase as it was the only car within 90 miles that was a Petrol Fuel Type I’ve purchased cars from Cinch and Cazoo few weeks ago, and it just knocks spots off Carbase. From day 1 it has been nothing but total stress. Then, Day 25 and I was still messing around. No one took responsibility, promised call backs within X amount of mins / hours. Never once did i get a call back, i always had to chase for an update. After being in the shop on day of collection for 2.5hrs, sat around for quite a large part, I finally closed the matter. Prep took far too long. Quick to take payment but not so fast to get the car ready. Finance set up was swift and easy. Every sales advisor I spoke was below par in my opinion. I wouldn’t let my customers be on their own, if i promised a customer a call back I would, even without an update i’d keep them looped with a courtesy call as I promised. This is what got me most frustrated. Lot of faffing around on day of collection. I respect a part for the vehicle was on back order. But being lied to by various staff members - Saying they can’t reach the Prep centre yet a Receptionist once confirmed they have their email and Number, namely John (Prep centre), was given completion dates which weren’t true, excuse after excuse, And each time I called, I was told something different. Lots of things just didn’t add up. I was total hassle and stress. I will not be returning, if you’re looking for great cars at awesome prices and literally no hassle…. Go for Cinch / Cazoo. Carbase has made clear the flaws and actually how good their competitors are. Carbase have good stock, ok prices, but poor customer service. This is more of a constructive feedback rather than just a complaint. I’m not too fussed how it’s resolved as like I say i won’t return. On picking up the Car Tadas was good, chatty and friendly… Also Hamza was pleasant to deal with today. Acknowledged that it had been a total farce from start to finish!! Although, you’re waiting around for rather long periods of time. I saw customers sat down waiting to view/purchase cars for rather long time. It shouldn’t be rushed, but also shouldn’t be at a dealer for 3+ hours Moreover, day after picking the car up. I had another call from a sales advisor inviting me down to collect the vehicle… I advised I have already done so!! I was then promised a phone call on Tuesday (After Bank Hol Monday) to arrange Gap insurance. Once again, this never happened. I had to call up myself on the Wednesday to complete. I was initially advised that OwnersClub was free. So I was sent a text message to sign up to DriveAway insurance. However 30 minutes later, I was advised this was £199. I didn’t sign up. I then asked instead of the Valet you owe me, swap it for the driveaway insurance, which is ‘less than £20’. Manager said No. Afterall, I said i’ll pay for the insurance. Went through the process and ended up they couldn’t figure out why the system wouldn’t charge me So after this, it left a further bad taste about them - plus I got the insurance for free. They could of just given it to me for free in the first place at least for some curtesy.

Carbase from Carbase Bristol in response to Will not buy again from here

What a waste of 6+ hours… We found a car online which we decided to enquire about - we are based in Essex. So we stressed from the start that we needed as much information as possible, and a video of the car before we travelled down to view the car..this was to make sure no time was wasted on both parts. We were sent a video of the car where some small stone chips were pointed out on the bonnet, the back and one on the drivers door. It was stated from one of the employees in that video that they were the only minor cosmetic issues to the car and there were no other things to report back to us with regards to the body work. This was important to us as we specifically asked for a body work review and video. We asked if the stone chips could be rectified before we travelled down and we were told that it would be sorted beforehand - so we arranged with the sales person to drive down, swap our car and pay for our new car on that day to prevent us from having to drive down twice. Today we drove down and was greeted by the sales person, they drove the car out for us to test drive and I couldn’t believe what I was seeing - this car surely wasn’t the one which we had been sent a video of? There were dents in the back, paint peeling on the front number, multiple scratches all over the body, the paint chips which we had been told had been repaired looked like they had been just drawn over with a black sharpie (it looked shocking), we opened the boot and diesel cap and you could also see where it had been re sprayed and there was overspray which had gone inside… If this had been pointed out to us when we asked for a honest video for them tell us about any damage to the body work we would not have wasted 3 hours driving down, and 3 hours driving back - not to mention the diesel which I have wasted. Instead the video was done in such a way you couldn’t see any of this, and none of this was pointed out on the video we were just told “there is nothing to report here”. We didn’t even waste our time further taking this car on a test drive - I might aswell have gone banger racing I would have seen cars in better condition there! The keys were given back and we walked away - we have lost money because of the dishonesty of this place, especially when they knew the terms on which we were travelling down. Yes they are used cars but when you specifically ask for a body work review and you get lied to it’s disgusting. While we were outside another customer returned with a car that they had just purchased and they said “we were driving down the road and it just fell off - I’ve only just left here with this how could this happen?” This told a whole story for us and the moral of the story is AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
