On collection of golf the interior was not very clean. The engine compartment was filthy but when I pointed it out was told it was company policy not to touch anything under the bonnet. After a day I found that the key worked only intermittently and the spare not at all. I called and explained and was kindly sent two replacement batteries which I fitted. All was fine until I needed to use the spare key which did not work. I called the Bristol shop and an appointment was made for me to take the car for checks. Was informed that a new key was required but since the 3 months warranty had expired I could not be helped. On challenging this decision was told it would be discussed with senior manager. After waiting months without reply I again complained and was invited for further checks. Again I was told a new key was required at a cost of £600. I requested an email confirmation and waited for a few months but nothing arrived arrived. I frustration I took the car to a specialist garage and was informed the the spare key was from a different golf and a new key was required but the emergency removable door lock key was probably cut from the primary key. I again called Carshop Bristol and was told they were not prepared to help and they suggested I elevate my complaint! It seems that their policy is to deflect and delay complaints thus avoiding expenditure. The service staff are polite but unhelpful if expenditure on their part is involved. For a massive parent organisation to behaving like a lay-by car lot is surprising.

ZERO STARS Just awful awful service - well, no service has been provided at all! Paid for car to be transferred between 2 stores (Nottingham to Bristol) - cost £169 ("non-refundable" but have been told I will get this back now) on 10th May, told it would be at the new store by 13th May. Sent messages to store on Wed 15th to check car had arrived - no reply. Called store Thurs 16th - told car was on route that day (no reason given as to why it was only just on it's way). Promised call back by end of day. No call received. Called store Fri 17th - now told car had to turn around whilst on route as there had been an mechanical issue. No one was going to let us know this if I hadn't have called. So we would have completed a 6 hour round trip for nothing. Original store that now has car in their service dept is not answering the phones at all to me. No one knows what the issue is, when it will be fixed, if/when I can collect the car. Been put in a horrible situation now, finance sorted, insurance sorted, now not sure if we need to look at another car or what. Will have to change both and face admin charges. Really really stressful situation and CarShop are barely lifting a finger to resolve it. Not sure which location is to blame, or maybe both.

We reserved a Volvo XC40 Reg: GJ69 UJH priced at £19,450 on the Carshop website and we got a phone call from the sales manager called Joe, we was told he had seen the car in the reserved bay and it looks great. We was travelling 165 miles to see this car and take it away so I felt at ease from what Joe was telling me and the pictures of the car looked great on the website. We arrived and was shown the car by Josh and that's where we knew Joe had wasted our time. The car was very dirty, there was bad paint damage to the passenger front wing and door, the rear drivers door was damaged with paint missing, the plastic arch trim was damaged. I then opened the door and it was filthy inside, no real valet had been done, the seats were stained and various grime over all the trims and it did not smell nice. The car had clearly come direct from an auction and had a bucket of water thrown over it. Josh did not know what to say and to be fair to him it was probably the first time he had seen the car himself. Not even a manager come out to see, even when Josh went to speak to one. I run a independent car sales myself and I would prepare a £2000 Fiesta better, I would never show a car to someone in such a condition. So we had no choice but to go home, we wasted £100 in fuel and 6 hours in the car. You need to look at the cars you are selling and stop wasting peoples time, poor management and not a care in the world.

purchased my Audi Q5 but when I collected despite paying extra I found the inside was still dirty and not valeted. I put this down to human error and the car was exactly what I wanted. However after just 10 days the brake pad wear sensor activated. Apparently during the check they had enough thickness to meet their standards however I would suggest 200 miles and 10 days later they are at the minimum level is hard to believe. I understand wear items sit outside the warranty but 10 days!!! This doesn’t reassure me about their safety and quality checks which makes me doubt the whole car never mind the attitude of the company 😢😢😢

I'm pretty devastated after buying a car here only 6 months ago. I spent the most I've ever spent on a car this time, but they let it go off the forecourt without proper checks. I wouldn't have known there was a problem until I got the car serviced recently - the eco doesn't work, the clutch needs changing, all four brakes need changing, the reversing camera has stopped working...it's over £2,000 of work. The brakes I understand, but clearly it had a clutch and eco problem from the day I bought it. I've been told I'll get a call from them twice (despite being out of warranty), but nobody has called back. You don't expect a 3 year old car with light usage to fall apart within 6 months, whatever the length of the warranty is. Their warranty is short, as was the MOT when I bought it, and they're sticking by that. I've since received communications with an accusatory tone, offering to give me a second opinion. But given that an award winning garage looked at it already, I'll pay the massive bill and never EVER buy a car from Carshop again.

AVOID and spend your money at a reputable independent or main dealer. I turned up to the Bristol dealership to see the Mazda 3 I had transferred parked outside dirty with a perforation through the paint on the bonnet. I was told this would be sorted by a body shop when I placed a deposit after what was a very prolonged price negotiation where every service was pushed on multiple occasions (e.g. their overpriced ceramic coating products). Two weeks went by with very minimal communication and no collection time to the point where I decided to turn up in person to then be told it would be ready the following day and "perfect"... this was not the case. The perforation was still there and under the internal lighting of the shop I noticed colour mismatch between several body panels indicating a bad respray/repair job. I asked for my deposit back and left there and then after they proceeded to offer another £400 off the car which I was told was not possible in the initial negotiation. They know nothing about the cars they are selling and management was almost non-existant with no professionalism to speak to me directly. I laughed when the salesman claimed "all new cars come with only one key" after refusing a further price adjustment to account for no spare. All in all what a waste of a £100 transfer fee and two weeks of my time with no car!

Reserved a car online, drive from Cornwall to Bristol to pick it up on a Friday, took for a test drive and there was something wrong with it, they said they would have it delivered as I live so far away, told me they would get it in to be looked at, told I would get an update, called me on Tuesday to say they would get it in the shop Wednesday and that I would receive a call on weds with an update (never called) thurs comes and I try to call them 15 times! Nobody answers and no way to leave a message, called the main customer service number got it escalated, was contacted by a guy who told me there was nothing wrong with the car! I challenged this and he investigated himself, low and behold there was an issue, so back into the workshop on Friday! Now a week since I PAID for the car! Got a call on Friday to say “we found the fault” but we can’t fix it now till next Thursday and will look to deliver on Friday! 2 weeks after I PAID! Told them it wasn’t acceptable and that they need to sort their customer service out as it was poor. Was told a manager would call me back on Friday (never called) called the main customer service number again on Saturday, got it escalated was supposed to receive a call back by a manager today (didn’t happen) finally someone calls me from the Bristol store with another load of bull now saying they can deliver on Saturday!! You’re actually me! I did not accept this, was told they would see when they can deliver and call me back, you guessed it (I’m still waiting!!) oh and if all that wasn’t bad enough I got over charged by £99.00 and I’m still waiting for my refund over 10 days later!! They don’t respond to emails, don’t answer the phone, don’t keep you informed and basically treat you like you’re an inconvenience, purchased the GuardX from them and at this point I’m not holding my breath that it’s done, I wouldn’t trust them to wash my dog, since last Tuesday I have tried to contact someone there over 40 times, don’t waste your time or money. Clearly never had training on “managing a customer’s expectations” I don’t think that keeping your customers informed of what’s happening is too much to ask! Would love to tell them where to shove the car at this point but how long would I have to wait for my almost £6500.00 deposit considering I’m still waiting for a £99.00 refund from Jan 28th! Absolutely the worst place I have ever bought a car from, would never use again nor would I recommend, absolutely fuming!
