Avoid this dealership!!!!!!! There's already many 1 star reviews on here highlighting the way these guys do business. These guys are con artists at this point! 1.They sell faulty cars that arent safe to drive. 2.When they fail to fix the problems (that the vehicle they just sold to you has), they suggest buying an RAC policy and trying a different garage. 3. When the RAC policy doesn't cover the issues with the car, they offer very poor alternatives. During this soul destroying process Ryan (head of sales) and his colleague jake will pass you back and forth making practically no real progress. They never get back to you but they always say "just leave it with us and I'll call you once we know what we can do." After checking my call history it turns out I've made 34 phonecalls to them and they haven't contacted me back once. Buying from this garage has caused me alot of trust issues, plenty of stress and its cost me alot of money and time. If this review gets a reply from the dealership

AVOID CENTURY MOTORS AT ALL COSTS! This garage are full of lies and will tell you what you want to hear in order to get a sale. Car advertised with full service history and has come with non! We pointed out the missing service history to Ryan and he said he knew about this and was sorting it out and not to worry as it would come with the full service history. When test driving the white 2014 VW golf we noticed there was only 5 miles of range left in the tank and after a short test drive it dropped to zero miles. We mentioned this upon agreeing to buy the car and were told they would put some petrol in before we collected the car the following week. When we collected the car I mentioned the tank was still empty and they gave us directions to the nearest petrol station. Having had the car less than 24hrs we noticed a knocking noise from the front end and also that the rear brake discs were heavily corroded and lipped which was a surprise considering the car had just had an MOT and service. The car also juddered whilst lightly feathering the throttle. After several phone calls speaking with every man and his dog we finally managed to get hold of the seemingly illusive Ryan and got the car back in to have these issues sorted and to be fair the brake discs were replaced and the knocking from the shock absorber fixed. We were however fobbed off regarding the juddering being told it was software related and Volkswagen had issued a recall on this. We then phoned Volkswagen a few days later and to discuss the juddering issue to which they basically told us we'd been lied to because Century couldn't diagnose the issue themselves. We were given an RAC warranty by Century motors which wasn't worth the paper it was written on. We went to 3 independent garages with the RAC warranty and all politely told they wouldn't touch it. So we decided to go straight to Volkswagen, they charged us £70 to diagnose the fault and told us the timing was out due to the cam belt being replaced incorrectly. They did do warranty work, however timing was not covered so they couldn't help us and quoted us £378 to fix the issue. We rang Century motors and spoke with the less than helpful Jake as Ryan wasn't in, which was a common occurrence. I informed him of the fault and he said we'd have to ring back when Ryan was in. I subsequently rang in everyday for 4 days being told Ryan was still off by this point I made it clear Jake needed to do something. We booked the car back in and dropped it off the following week. Ryan was back at this point and told us he'd ring us when the fault was sorted. 2 weeks later having heard nothing we rang Century motors and were informed the car was fixed a week ago and they were waiting for us to contact them. We picked the car back up to find they'd been driving round in the car using it for their own personal use and had left with 6 ice cream wrappers in the foot well and bottle of pop in the door pocket. They had however fixed the timing issue so that's something. We've had the car since the 14th of May and have rung Century motors at least 20 times regarding the service history and we have still never received this having being told Arnold Clarke are sending it over because it was formerly their car. I decided to ring Arnold Clarke myself and yet again they informed us we'd been lied to by Ryan and that nobody had contacted them about the history and that it only had 2 services and not 8! We were never reimbursed the £70 we'd paid Volkswagen and are now stuck with a car with no history which reduces the value of the it. Having known this we'd never have bought the car I contacted Century motors and told them I wanted these issues resolving and warned them of this review but they clearly don't care as nothing was ever sorted.
Ryan Bratby from Century Motors Sheffield in response to Terrible
Dear Matt, We are sorry you feel the need to leave this review. You have received all your accurate service history and your timing belt was replaced by us free of charge. You agreed to remove this review on us providing you with your service history. We have done this and more, please remove as promised.
Bought a car February 2022 after our car was stolen at Christmas. Had just started a job so treat ourselves to a £10000 car (a lot for us) bought on the Friday, DPF light came on Sunday. Was gutted as had had problems with another cars DPF. The guy at the garage assured us he would fix it and after sending it with nearly a full tank of fuel he it returned over a week later with dpf light off and hardly any fuel. Lasted a few days then light back on. I wanted our money back but he assured us it would get fixed. My husband felt reassured so they kept our car again for three weeks this time with another full tank of fuel. We got it back three weeks later and the light came on again after a few days. They had replaced a sensor but my fear was it was something else. They agreed to send the car to a third party mechanic we trust so we felt that at least it would get sorted. The mechanic cleaned the dpf and we got the car back and drove it until the DPF light came back on. I was starting to feel really anxious now that we were paying the repayments for the car, insurance and so on and I had been using my husbands works van all this time whilst it was in the garage. Not convenient for my husbands business! We were assured that we would get our money back but he wanted to fix it so we agreed to try again. The garage cleaned the filter again but no joy. The mechanic kept the car to see if he could find out the problem. Several weeks later his conclusion was to replace the dpf but new century motors wanted to send to Mazda. We asked for our money back now as we desperately need a car. We have not heard anything! Even offered to have another one of his cars instead to save time but nothing. I am in bits, still no car, can’t afford another one! It is now half way through May 2022!!!

Ryan Bratby from Century Motors Sheffield in response to Thought was helpful, turns out not
Dear Mr W, We are sorry you feel the need to leave this negative review. You were offered a full and free repair with Mazda at a cost of over £3000.00 to us, you declined this offer. We could do no more I'm afraid.
Avoid this garage like the plague. You simply cannot trust a used car dealer unless it's a main franchise... warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on and they will do absolutely anything to save a few quid. Zero empathy with problems and complete reluctance to have a human approach to helping the customer feel like they're in good hands. Do not, I repeat, do not buy a car off these cowboys.

I'm writing this review for century as this is the best place I've got my Cars from, I've bought 4 cars from here and now just bought my 5th today! 🙂I've never had a problem with any car, always been amazing runners, lasted me years. The service I get from Ryan and the team is priceless, they can't do enough for you, make you feel so welcome ! One review that's been left on here was actually my last car the Renault megane GT line which I bought from century which lasted my 4 years with not one hicup! And I traded it back in for an Audi a5 which I bought from century.. again no issues ! That Renault megane didn't have one fault to it, so please don't listen to the review when buying a car from century. 10/10 service !!!!
On the 09/07/2021, I came across a 1.6 DCi GT Line Renault Megane GT Line Sport Coupe 3dr that was advertised for sale by a Century Motors (Sheffield) Limited. The vehicle was advertised at £3,690.00 with a full-service history and no advisories on the MOT history. Before making any enquiries, I carried out some checks on the dealer and vehicle online and found out through Google and Companies House that they were a small, well established family business located in Sheffield. I also took the time to read their reviews on Auto Trader and Google, which at the time gave me the impression they had a good reputation. I also carried out an MOT history check to ensure there was nothing major on the previous tests. Having got to this point, on the 02/07/2021, I phoned Century Motors (Sheffield) Limited to ask some specific questions about the vehicle and deposit required to secure a viewing/test drive. I had to leave a message for the Manager (Ryan) to call me back. Whilst waiting for a call back, to my surprise that afternoon the price of the vehicle had increased from the advertised £3,690.00 to £3,990.00. I sent an email to Ryan to challenge this and prompt him to call me back. Ryan advised me that they had studied the car closely and they are the cheapest way into a GT Line by at least £200.00 and had made a pricing error. Despite this and the difficulties getting hold of Ryan, I was able to speak to him on the phone and cover off the deposit required, delivery costs, warranty, MOT, service history paperwork/receipts and if there were any mechanical issues. Ryan assured me over the phone that the vehicle was in good order (currently being used) and would come with 12 months MOT and a service, with the clutch and gearbox working as expected. Furthermore, they would honor the original price of the vehicle. I subsequently paid a £200.00 deposit and agreed to view and test drive the vehicle on the 09/07/2021 with my father. On the 09/07/2021 I travelled from Wolverhampton to Sheffield with my father on the train. I was 95% sure that I would be buying the vehicle, so Ryan agreed to pick us up from the train station. We were left waiting about half an hour before we were eventually picked up by a member of staff who works on site. When we arrived, we were briefly greeted by Ryan who said the vehicle was open and we were free to look around and if we had any questions to let him know. We were left to look over the vehicle ourselves and the only thing left to do was to test drive the car. Ryan provided us with a trade plate and directions to test drive the car. There were a few imperfections with the car, however it was to be expected for car nearly 10 years old. I also noticed that the milage had increased by 1000 miles. I tried to negotiate the price down, however Ryan was reluctant to move on the price, due to it’s rarity and current condition. I subsequently agreed to pay the remaining balance and take the car – as I required it for my career in the Police. Fast forward 6 months and on the 09/01/2022 I felt a knocking noise when steering, so I arranged for the vehicle to be checked a week later by a local well-known garage. I didn’t drive the vehicle for a week, until the day of the appointment which was on the 17/01/2022. The garage inspected the vehicle and found that there was a list of problems as follows: NSF top mount bearing rough on rotation £89 NSF track rod end has play £69 NSF drop link has play £69 NSF wheel binding – discs 70% worn pads 50% worn £169 OSF track rod end has play £69 OSF wheel rough when rotated – could be disc corrosion OSR discs badly pitted OSR wheel binding unable to check bearing £220 Both rear spring broken at top £260 Oil leak and undertray deformed/damaged Circa £940.00+ I have owned the car for approximately 6 months and driven it circa 2,100 miles. The garage who checked the vehicle over informed me that the repairs above are inconstant with being driven 2,100 miles. They said that the majority of the parts listed above take at least a year to start showing signs of wear or need replacing. This leads me to believe that the car was put through the MOT with the issues mentioned and no service had been carried out at the time of the MOT as I was led to believe. I have had no choice but to sell the car online, as I could not afford to get all of the repairs done and it was too dangerous to sell on without getting the springs done as a minimum. I am now out of pocket by £200.00 and having to find a safe/reliable car with the remaining money. I strongly recommend that you avoid this dealer at all costs. If you are not convinced by this review, and still decide to buy a car, I would recommend going over it in fine detail before purchasing. I was sold a car that was supposed to have been known to the dealer, well looked after with a full-service history and clean MOT. This was not the case as the vehicle required extensive repairs which were inconsistent with being driven just over 2000 miles/6 months – see proof of repairs. I have reported the garage to the DVSA Intelligence Unit in the hope they carry out an investigation.

Dealer from Century Motors Sheffield in response to Very unhappy customer - read this review
Good Afternoon, I am genuinely sorry you feel the need to leave such a negative review about your purchase 6 months after taking delivery. Having had time to digest your review and get some quotes i can honestly say - Why not pick up the telephone and contact us after the your inspection? You are a customer, we will always help where we can, for example; If we were to say that ALL the work on your report required doing (which I don't think it would), then we could have supplied and fitted - NSF Top mount including bearing - £12.76 - Your garage price £89 NSF Track Rod End & Drop Link - £21.77 - Your garage price £138 Front Discs & Pads - £94.98 - Your garage price - No price given OSF Track rod end - £12.76 - Your garage price - £169 Rear Discs - £41.11 - Your garage price £220 2x Rear coils springs -£21.=68 each (£43.36) - Your garage price £260!! I would not be able to quote on an oil leak until seeing it. This help alone takes your garages total bill from £940 down to a total of £226.74 + Oil leak. It is also worthy of note that you have had no concerns or issues during your 6 months of motoring! - i cannot make a car work for a period of time and then fail. All the parts you have listed are consistent with a 10 year old car covered 91,000 + usage. Once again I am sorry however a simple phone call would have gone a very long way.
I bought my car in January this year and yes initially I was very impressed with the sales team. Ryan Went above and beyond. However the minute there was any issues, the customer service has been less than satisfactory! They are unhelpful, extremely dishonest and do not stand by the company values they are apparently so proud of. For example, i was given a number of a garage closer to home to help me out. Multiple times we arranged for me to take my car in and each time there was always an excuse as to why I couldn't go. The part wasn't in, the garage was snowed under. His diary wasn't in front of him and he'd call me back. Obviously he never did. I gave up trying. The car was also meant to have been fitted with a brand new part concerning the heating. One year warranty it came with. However again when I tried to get it back, to century motors this time, it never happened. I phoned the day before I was due to take it in and I wasn't booked in at the workshop, they had no idea I was coming or even any details about the car/issue. They spoke to Ryan and came back on the phone stating the mechanic had covid! That I could take the car and leave it with them for a couple of days, but they couldn't tell me how long it might take. I explained I needed my car as I'm a nurse for the NHS, that I didn't live locally. Needless to say I've gone else where to get it sorted. I feel well and truly fobbed off by this garage and all it's staff!

Ryan Bratby from Century Motors Sheffield in response to Believe all the negative reviews. Avoid.
Dear Hannah, Your car was fitted with a brand new heater matrix as part of our workshop pre delivery inspection. Some months later your heater matrix had the same problem. The part was still under manufacturers guarantee and we arranged for a new one to be fitted by us free of charge. Unfortunately we had to close our workshop because of Covid and made alternative arrangements for you.
I first bought a car from Century Motors over five years ago. The process was simple and I felt I was dealing with an honest garage who offered a fair quote and didn’t mess about. Since then the after sales service has been fantastic, I have gone back twice and changed my car with Ryan. I feel I am part of the family now and I won’t go anywhere else for my next motor. Keep up the great service and customer focus!
Really shocked at the bad reviews as Ryan and the Team had helped me a lot. I could only come to see the car on a Sunday and even though it was out of business hours, they still came and opened up just for me to see the car. They gave me time to decide whether I wanted it or not and always responded promptly and nicely, I recommend all my family and friends to them. Thanks to Ryan and the team.
