I wish I had never found this dealer, I thought I had found my dream car, I saw the car for the first time and fell in love with it, the story goes the car was brought to the front of the garage, went for a test drive loved it, done the deal, picked it up a few days later fantastic, but the next day when I started it there was a rattle at the top of the engine, I took it back and was told they all do that, well I took it to a AMG specialist and was told it is the camshaft adjusters, so I approached chuches and they sent me to a garage they use I was without the car for two days, when I got it back it was still the same, so I found a independent AMG specialist and had it fixed at a cost of £2025 when I approached chuches they didn’t want to know, when my independent AMG specialist phoned churches the salesman thought it was funny. So that’s how it ends.putting it down to experience.

Luckily for me ive not had to purchase a vehicle from this circus. Booking an appointment to view a car, along with being told that there's another one they will hold off advertising until i get down there. Only to arrive there after a 55 minute drive to be told both cars had sold. It wouldn't have mattered if when i called 65 mins before my appointment time they had told me the main vehicle had sold and that the alternative car had one of there owners mate there buying it. But instead they allow me to drag my wife an 2 kids on a 55 min drive to find out there's nothing there to actually view. Despite the amateur salesman's pitch to try and get me to buy 3 different cars im not interested in. Nothing but a bunch of chancers thinking im stupid enough to hand over 35k for a car i didn't arrange to view. If i had found these reviews about this place before hand i would have avoided at all costs. Why was i not told when i called to tell them i was on my way? why then when i was 10 mins away and couldn't locate them would they not again tell me the vehicle had sold? Because they are chancers and hoped id be some form of mug to be sold a under specced completely different car! avoid people, save your money an use a reputable business!!

PLEASE READ!!! Before you spend the cost of a deposit on a house with these cowboys please think again. I purchased a Mercedes A45 in November 2021 from churchs performance, went through the process with Charlie and all went smoothly I collected the car and drove home happy, around 10 days after the purchase whilst driving on the motorway the car made a very noticeable stutter at around 5000 revs just before changing gear.immediately I panicked and changed up myself using the paddles as the car was an automatic I got home and took the car to a local mechanic for a diagnostic returning 8 fault codes everything from a stereo fault air conditioning fault to 2 main engine faults P1CE700 crankcase ventilation wide open throttle cylinder bank 1 has a malfunction. And the second being,P06DA00 the actuation of the valve of the oil pump in the combustion engine has an electrical fault or open circuit.I contacted churchs to be now passed to Ryan who in fairness booked it in to MSL in Birmingham for a diagnostic I travelled the hour to MSL only to be sent home as Ryan did not want to pay the cost for the oil and filter change that it would obviously need as the sump needed dropping to get to the switch and solenoid to rectify the P06DA00 fault.A few days later Ryan phoned me telling me to go back to MSL ( another 100mile round trip and about £40 in juice) I went and got the sump plug changed which on the drive home had not fixed the stuttering issue which is now a few weeks down the line getting more frequent and much more noticeable.I contacted Ryan to tell him it was still happening to be told to go back to MSL as Ryan believed the car may have been remapped by the previous owner and that may be causing the issue so I did (again more miles on the car and another £40 in petrol)arriving at MSL they done a software update on both the engine and gearbox to reset any possible remap.again on the journey home the issue persisted.I took the car myself for a smoke test looking for any air leaks and a pressure test on the turbo as the main boss at MSL was adamant it was a turbo issue, after no avail churchs told me they needed the car back with them 200miles away and 3.5 hrs drive so I agreed but to be told I would not be given a car to use whilst they had mine after playing my face I finally got a old 03 plate 1series bmw it was mouldy and stunk .but it was a car so I took it. After 2 weeks Ryan called telling me there mechanic dale had witnessed the problem and it was now all fixed telling me it was a cheap map on the gear box and they had flashed it with the latest software (EVEN THO MSL DONE THIS A FEW WEEKS PRIOR I WENT WITH IT) so I went down to collect the car happy that my car was now fixed I arrived to meet Ryan’s dad Glenn I pulled off churchs premises didn’t even get to the first bend and there it was the now 4 month old stutter.I immediately turned round went back and told Glenn it’s not fixed,I asked Glenn to get in the car to witness this unmissable stutter that now not only did it at higher revs and before gear changes now does it all through the rev range. I took Glenn on a short drive, with this stutter that we had tried to fix for over 4months and cost Glenn hundreds of pounds, and heard by everybody even Glenn’s own mechanic dale for Glenn Miraculously to not be able to hear it Glenn then went on to tell me the car has no issue we don’t know what you are talking about(if this is the case what have you been trying to fix for months)Glenn then told me hes not giving me my money back but He offered buy it back off me for £4000 less than I paid 4 months ago.(HOW KIND OF HIM),After a long uncomfortable conversation and Glenn not budging I took the car home to get legal advice.I got home and issued Glenn with a pre court action letter under the consumer right act as the fault started well within my 30 days of purchase,to be told by Glenn we have sold you a good car and we are not at fault if you can supply an independent engineers report we will reassess the issue. So I took the car to a local independent garage for a diagnostic which came back with a new fault code U010000 “communication with the control unit combustion engine has a malfunction there is a general failure code stored” I got the report in writing and forwarded it to Glenn.around 3 weeks later after chasing Glenn I got a call from a man call mark mantley saying he works for Glenn and he wanted to send the car to Mercedes (great I thought, finally this will get sorted) he went on to tell me he could not book it in I had to either drop it off the night before or have it there first thing 9am sharp (which raised red flags) but I went with it he went on to tell me it was going in for a in house second hand car diagnostic telling me it would take 2/4 hours but I would not be given the results of the diagnostic on the day that mark would forward them to me 3days later,Which did not sit right with me so I called the Mercedes garage mark had so called booked it in at to be told my car was not booked in on the day or time mark told me and that if it was I would most definitely get the results the same day as I am the cars owner.they went on to tell me they don’t do in house jobs for external company’s and they had no knowledge of mark or my apparent diagnostic.so I phoned mark to double check I had the correct garage and time to be shouted at by mark telling me how dare I interfere in things he had arranged and having the phone put down on me twice .I called mark back telling him I’m not happy with what he was saying and that Mercedes don’t know anything about my so called diagnostic.mark went on to tell me he had a friend that worked there and he had pulled a favour that’s why it wasn’t booked in.I told mark I will get the diagnostic done at Mercedes and send him the results to be told no we won’t except it from you it’s our way or not at all.my options then became limited it was pay thousand to take them to court or except there joke of an offer of £4000 less so if you are reading this looking at buying the silver 16plate A45 trust me go elsewhere if you are planning on buying any car from them go elsewhere you may buy a car with no issues like the people who have give them good reviews but if you have an issue with one good luck to you because you will need it. They are lieing sneaky people I will never go back and advise anybody to stay clear.mark wanted it there first thing so his friend could give it a quick clean bill of health before his main jobs that’s my opinion.dodgy bunch of guys

Paul Girling in response to TERRIBLE LIARS
My goodness I’m very shocked to say the least!! I was planning on a trip to churches tomorrow and looking forward to it but with your experience and extremely detailed review of your troubles and appalling service from churches I am really now in two minds on what to do. For your average person who has put everything into buying a car and given a run around by Churches it’s very worrying indeed. I thank you for your courage to speak out and let other people know this simply isn’t good enough from a Garage that sells premium Performance sports cars. Again thank you for your review.
Don’t recommend avoid buying a car from CHURCHS PERFORMANCE CARS Billingshurst liars dishonest and after sales are the worst ever come across. They are denying me basic consumer rights. Was mis sold a M140i on a Friday as standard as it turns out had a stage 1 remap confirmed by BMW, when I told Churchs( next working day) they were very rude (Ryan) I wanted my part ex back it was still on finance told them not to pay it, so guess what they did went ahead and paid it even though they knew I wanted my part ex back so it’s now made it difficult for me to have it back which after being advised they are now the legal owners as they have settled the finance by the finance company by law I don’t need to have it back. The director then got back to me “Glenn” with a “reasonable solution” where I can hand back there car but they demand £16.5k in order to facilitate the reverse, which could’ve been easily avoided had they not have settled my existing finance on that car but when they learnt I wanted my part ex back they rushed to raise payment to make it difficult to facilitate the reverse. I was well within my 30 days consumer rights act to hand that car back and within the 14 day click and collect rights even if I didn’t like the drive or colour but somehow has made my life a living hell by not accepting the car back and I’m now without a car. I am now stuck with a car on finance sitting in the garage wasting away which I’m paying for which isn’t being used as they refuse to take it back and denying me my consumer acts right. Didn’t have a chance to test drive or view under current climate so bought the car based on trust. Don’t trust this car dealer biggest mistake and regret, read reviews online which made me travel 150 miles. I will post this review everywhere to stop another innocent customer making the same mistake, customer service is the worst I’ve experienced by far this is a frustrating stressful purchase which has put me off buying a used car for life and dealing with a independent used car sales place. Now I am going through Santander finance current finance to have this car handed back all proof have been sent over along with original adverts no where stating it had been modified and other ads which states when they are modified and evidence from BMW. Avoid buying a car from them unless you want a dissatisfying car buying experience and when it goes wrong they don’t want to know and deny you your rights! I also have complaints logged with citizens advice bureau and the motor ombudsman. This is the lengths I’m now having to go down as they are being unreasonable and they are at fault, all I did was purchase a car I thought was unmodified.

Cannot recommend Church's enough. Charlie went above and beyond for me and made things so easy for me even in these testing times. Car was completely cleaned and sanitised ready for collection and the whole process was without any stress or hassle. A++++. Love it.

I've just bought a Merc A45 from Church's and having not bought a 2nd hand car for a while I was a little skeptical both buying from a dealer and also buying without seeing the car, however from my initial contact with Charlie to picking the car up yesterday I have been delighted with the process of buying the car. There was no pressure sales on the initial call and once I'd decided to buy a car, they arranged a video call and Jon showed me the car via a whatsapp video call in real detail. I traded my old golf in and was given sensible money for it (for me taking away the agg of selling my car). Anyhow, picked up my A45 yesterday and it's exactly as had been described. Perfect purchase as was no hassle at all. I've just gotta keep my licence now! Highly recommended.

I purchased a Vauxhall Astra gtc vxr from Church's and fell in love with it . I had an issue with the car but Glenn made sure this was dealt with and fixed. Great communication between emails and telephone calls lead to the return of my car and one very happy customer. Thank you .

It can be difficult to find a good trust worthy car dealer, after many years of purchasing cars though main dealers at a much higher cost, I finally found Church's Performance Cars who supplied me with my DB9. The whole transaction was smooth, I part exchanged two vehicles and was paid a fair price. If you are looking for a performance car and want to deal with a professional team who not only know the car brands but provide fantastic service then look no further. I will be returning at some point and my new weekly routine is to check their current stock list!

Pleasant and smooth transaction Ones stunning example is not anothers Car handed over not clean, prepped by a outside third party favourably to maximise profit I had to immediately replace the rear brakes (Chuch paid for parts I stood the labour which still left me feeling dissatisfied) I had only driven the car home 250 miles if I didnt live so far I would have walked away but the positives of new tyres, wheel refurb and full bmw history made me take it my search was exhausted When sales staff start playing the violin about we havent got much profit in the car you do worry All in all not too bad 6/10
If you are looking for a performance car such as an Audi, Porsche or Jaguar then you might want to give Church's Performance Cars a call. They are based in Billinghurst and provide not only a choice of some of the most popular brands within the car industry but also offer finance packages on site.
