Great service from Henry. Very helpful in these testing times, I was able to have a thorough preview of the car before I purchased. Extremely happy with my car.
Walked into this dealership today expecting to spend £44k on a new car that had previously been quoted. My colleague had previously warned me that their customer service was bad but hadn’t realised they were this bad. Service on the front desk was unbelievable, they couldn’t communicate and should never be the face of a BMW dealership. Asked to see the salesman who originally completed the quote as he was also going to get me a demo car, 4 weeks later still waiting for the car and waiting so long today to see someone I walked out after 20 mins. I’m glad I could experience how bad Chelmsford BMW really is as I certainly won’t be placing any orders with them or asking them to service my new car. I’ve been a Mercedes driver for the last 4 years, they couldn’t be any different, Mercedes value their customers, this dealership needs a serious management change!
Never buy a service plan from BMW! so after the first service where BMW Chelmsford refused to return my car unless I paid them money even though we had a warranty and 3 year service plan. Today they have the car for the second service. Car is still in the service plan period but they say I must pay for an extra diagnostic check otherwise they will not stamp my service book or reset the onboard computer saying the car car still requires a service! I have paid for a service plan and they refuse this? Outrageous. We are never going to buy another BMW again
Called in to BMW Coopers to ask a simple question on where the Fusebox was and a Fuse Map to identify appropriate fuse, relating to a new BMW I had recently bought and they refused to give me the information, but were happy for me to book the car in and advise me !! They want me to pay and wait for information that should be readily available, especially to someone who had just spent £30k on BMW. Do they rally think they will wee any future Service business from me after this ? Raised the issue with Inchcape Snr Management and no response from them either.
This is probably one of the worst BMW service and I would recommend to avoid Cooper BMW in Chelmsford at all cost! As a summary, you have to wait too long for booking an appointment and to get your car fixed but they are terribly bad at fixing the issues and those issues can repeat again soon. Worst of all they can damage the door of your car while it's in the service but then they can simply deny or ignore it. Here are the details of what happened to my 66 Reg BMW 4 Series which I purchased as brand new from Cooper Chelmsford. They couldn’t fix my sat-nav and other communications system related issues in two years until the fifth time in service.. and every service was a pain (was almost impossible to get a booking before one month since I needed a loan car, then had to wait another month as they always had to order the parts from Germany and they were giving the next appointment after one month) And worst of all, they bumped my driver side door and caused a dent on it but they denied and ignore it ! Here are the details of what happened While I was checking the exterior of my car before picking it up from Cooper Chelmsford for the last time , I noticed small dents on the edge of my driver door which was not there before. Then I called service supervisor to see my car but he did not agree that there were dents on it . He though that they look like paint marks which could happen during the painting process during the manufature of the car. However they are clearly dents for me which were not there before. I am a Product Development & Component Design Engineer and working in Automotive manufacturing industry since 12 years and I can differentiate them easily. From the look and the location of the dents , it looks like someone bumped the door to a wall or column . Before that incident, nobody else ever used my car other than myself and Cooper Chelsmford staff and I am 100% sure that it happened while my car is in Cooper Chelmsford during service . (There is also an another small dent on the other body side of my car but I don’t claim that happened in Cooper Chelmsford !) . Since it's a coupe car, it has a big door and you can easily bump it if there is limited space and if you are not careful therefore I was always so careful about it. Then i send an email to Cooper Chelmsford and Bmw customer services to investigate this incident by checking the CCTV cameras or asking the service staff but i did not get any feedback at all. They simply ignored it!
I bought a 1year old M4 with 5200 miles from Cooper BMW Chelmsford with 7 defects. Long story short the dealer put in writing that they thought it is acceptable to sell a used car in that condition. I also had a rattling dashboard which was reported the same day of collecting the car. They tried to repair the car but couldn’t so they put in writing accusing me of using a silicone based cleaner on the dashboard and that’s what caused the issue. When asked for the evidence they could not provide it. I wanted to reject the car but Cooper Chelmsford refused my consumer rights 01/09/2015 so I had to get a solicitor and the financial ombudsman involved. It took 15 months to resolve and I lost £5000 in the process. I will be leaving reviews far and wide to the public and will be taking this to the news papers. We as consumers should not be treated like this.

My BMW was impounded. After a letter from BMW indicated a 2 hour repair, I haven’t seen my car for 6 weeks. Coopers BMW Chelmsford have it. The hire car provided is not even in the same category as my touring model. I’m driving a Ford Kuga with no options at all! Enterprise rentacar are calling me for updates and driving me crazy because they cannot get the dealership on the phone! I was told at one point after more than 1 month that my car would be repaired within 48 hours then told 3 days later that in fact BMW had instead pulled the new part allocated for my car from use as well??? An explanation, I do not believe, I might add, as it has not been proven or explained by Coopers and I am of the opinion Coopers allocated my part to another customers car instead! I’ve been offered nothing by the way of compensation for this myriad of failures by Coopers. I’m appalled. Coopers will need to pull out some very big stops to win back my custom this time.

I’ve a query and have been directed to contact Coopers BMW at Chelmsford by BMW central customer services who assured me that they would assist. It seems like they probably have some staffing issues at the moment and are totally unable to cope with the workload. After 48 hours of calling and emailing I’ve all but given up. They don’t return phone calls and don’t reply to messages. Disappointing.

They tried to push extra packages when i was buying a auc bmw, When i declined the manager came back saying his boss was going to give me to free packages as a good will offering. Probably because there woundn't give me anything of the the asking price, then when i look at the paperwork found my bmw has lost value so they could charge the so-called free extras to inflate there bonuses. No after sales service when they've got your money your done. If you require a bmw try a Barons dealship because Colchester Coopers BMW and they management are only in it for themselves.

I found Cooper Chelmsford BMW to be a dishonest dealership, they take shortcuts with everything to make it as cheap as possible for them. Bought 2 cars over the last years from there and to have problems both times is just ridiculous. Being sold "Tyre insurance" and "cosmetic repair insurance" and the guardx protection with no discussion what so ever, just over £1000 extra on the bill which is not brought to your attention, I'd have had no problem if I had been asked a simple yes or no if I wanted them and I had said yes. But sneaking it in there and taking customers as fools and hope they don't spot it (unfortunately I didn't) is just not what I expect from an official BMW dealership, perhaps a dodgy cheap car dealership, but not them. Then constantly making you seem stupid and that I'd said all these things that I hadn't. They have lost and business from us in the future.
