John from Cowley Motor Company in response to Stay away

Bought a 63 plate mercedes benz from Cowley Motor Company which was faulty. They had caked the car with touch up paint so it looked brand new when viewing it then when I got it washed the paintwork was in pretty rough condition. Even had rust patches on it!! The car became faulty 4 weeks after purchase where it was randomly slamming on the breaks due to a faulty sensor. At the time I didn't know what was wrong with it but basically it was nearly causing crashes on motorways at high speed. I rang the dealership and told them and they instructed me to keep driving it until the matter got worse(dangerous I know) but I did keep driving it to see of the problem would get worse which it did. Finally after 4 months of ringing Cowley motors they took it in for 5 days without the option of a courtesy car. When i got the car back it was in a worse condition then when I gave it to them so they sent me to their own independent mechanic where he failed to fix it. So they told me bring it back to their independant mechanic which I refused and wanted it to go to a proper mercedes benz dealership after 2 failed attempts of them trying to fix it. They refused for me to do that, I asked can I bring it to my own mercedes specialist and they refused again and then I asked for a refund for the car and again they refused. Contacted citizens advice and got great advice from them and contacted finance company who agreed to fix the issue. DO NOT BUY ANY CAR FROM THIS LOT!! They are nice as pie to your face when your buying something from them but once u hand that money over they aren't as interested any more. For the stress and trouble this caused me for the last 4 to 5 months now I'm gutted I bought it from them.

Jack from Cowley Motor Company in response to Avoid this dealship
As your review isn't verified and I Have no recollection of this complaint I Am struggling with my response , However if it is a genuine review I can only apologies for a sensor failing 4 weeks after you purchased the vehicle, And glad that your finance company resolved the problem . In normal circumstances if a fault is reported to a finance company they would get in touch , if was was covered under warranty they would ask the dealer to contact the customer to arrange a repair , I have not been contacted by any finance companies as of yet , but glad you got it sorted. Regards Jack Lamb
I have a dispute with Cowley Motor Company who are not willing to refund my car reservation payment, which I feel is totally unreasonable, given the situation. Prior to paying to reserve the car, I went and view/test-drove the car. Everything seemed fine on the surface. I had asked the salesman to provide or make me aware of ALL repair or service history associated the to vehicle. The car was quite new so there was no Service History to show me (fair enough), and I was told there were no repairs I should be aware of. The only documentation the salesman presented to me was the V5 vehicle keeper registration. Under the impression that the car was fine, I subsequently started to pursue finance and provided a reservation deposit over the phone a few days later. In hindsight I should have done the following first before putting any money down - I decided to have an independent inspection carried out on the car. There were multiple issues raised by the mechanic, and one in particular was that the car was indicating clutch damage. When confronted, the dealer said that the clutch had been replaced recently. This is a 1.5 year old car with 6.5K miles on the clock, so naturally I was concerned as to why the clutch had been replaced so early in the vehicles life, and more importantly, why didn't the salesperson inform me about this when I had originally asked about repair history. I told the dealer I was unhappy they had omitted this information, and that I wanted a refund on my reservation deposit. I've been told I probably won't get my money back as it's non-refundable and apparently the car is being sold as described! Absolute rubbish. I'm now pursuing them and getting no responses to emails or clear answers when I call. Very likely I will have to go down a legal route. I'm glad I didn't sign any contracts or this could have been worse.

Jack from Cowley Motor Company in response to Terrible experience. Buyers beware!
Hi, Sorry for any misunderstanding with regards to your deposit refund, As stated you were entitled to your deposit refund through your credit card company to which they confirm you did receive , As for the Vehicle having a new Clutch fitted by BMW at 18 months old Under warranty by the previous owner, I am sorry that our salesman didn't have an adequate reason for why this had happened, rather that the salesman just make up an excuse he was honest and stated he didn't know. I hope you have since found a car that meets your requirements. If we can be of any assistance in the future please don't hesitate to contact myself . Kind Regards Jack
Hitesh in response to Terrible experience. Buyers beware!
In response to Jack from Cowley Motor Company - for the record, my credit card provider could not refund me so what you're saying is further rubbish. they directed me back to yourselves to get the refund, which you declined and when I pursued, you would not respond to emails or calls. Please do not try to conceal your trickery.
Faulty car corroded brakes suspension mountains rotten and filled with filler we only had the car two weeks when we had the car checked by an independent garage the suspension came through the bodywork numerous cards all needed fixing the garage is rude quick enough to take your money but when you need a response you get little or no cooperation they did offer to fix it which is now being done but not too high standard and now it is getting an independent inspector of more cost of £500 to get it inspected properly since we have bought the car it is cost 5 to 600 pounds in about three weeks that's not including car hire and transporters to take to the garage and bring back when we got the car back although we can't prove it four nails in back tyres which had to be replaced another £100 and a nail in the front right tire which we have now had to have repaired the garage also used all the fuel in the car and clocked up 60 miles on the clock do you really want to waste your time with a business like this absolutely despicable!

Do not use this “dealership” absolutely terrible customer service, I bought an expensive car from them which had a few issues with it which they tried to hide, however I brought in an rac mechanic to test the car which they insisted I didn’t do and he found a number of issues with us they then promised these would be fixed by them and they would pay and to call them and book it in. I called them back and they told me the guy that deals with it wasn’t in, I called again later in the week same again this happened for over 3 months in the end I had to call the garage myself and sort it. Really I should have not bought the car until it had all been fixed and got it checked again to make sure they had done what they said they would but I needed a car urgently unfortunately. If you do use this dealership make sure you get the car checked and that they fix everything before you buy it because guareneed they will do nothing after. They were completely unhelpful and have terrible customer service. There are much better places to get a car. Think twice before you think you’re getting a good deal.

This happened to us also exactly the same, quick enough to take the money, sold as a Mercedes that should not have gone through the MOT let alone be on the forecourt. we had to fork out for a transporter to pick the damaged vehicle up from where we are because we don't live local had to pull all the codes from an independent garage to find out exactly what was wrong with it corroded brake pipes suspension mountain rotten and filled with filler to hide The Bodge job and a list of other faults to do with the car I would strongly recommend not to buy anything from this dealership unless you enjoy spending countless amounts of money just to be thrown down the drain no customer service skills whatsoever.
Very Helpfull Staff and a lot of knowledge considering the varying amount of cars . I was made to feel welcome without the pushy sales . Highly recommend Cowley Motor Company.

No one really ever leaves a good review when buying a car only leave bad reviews when they have a problem with there car reading all these reviews I can say I would not believe any off these because I bought a car from Cowley motor company had lots off problems after about a month off having the car they came out and collected the car and took it away and fixed every problem and Evan gave me a car to use whilst they had mine in for repair and then brought mine back to my house 30 miles away all fixed and since then had no problems but I would highly recommend the garage to anyone who asked me I went out knowing I was buying a 2 hand car and it is not a new car so could end up having some issues witch I did and I made one phone call to the garage and they resolved the problem promptly and professionally so thank u guys at Cowley motor company

Hi, what car did you buy and what was the problems?
Avoid Cowley Motor Company- car salesman did not know anything about the cars he was selling. He proceeded to tell us that another car that a couple were test driving was 'awful' and gave false information about a car we were interested. Salesman lit up a cigarette in front of us. Very unprofessional.
I have had numerous issues with my Mini Cooper from Cowley Motor Company. It has needed a new clutch and brakes. The dealers have been really helpful and carried out the repairs. however, The brake lights have come on again so it will have to go back in again. I do thing they have put them self's out to help though and they have a good range of quality cars. I would recommend them.
