I've been looking for an MGB GT for sometime with little success and saw a couple of cars online at Croydon classics.Spoke to James Barton who discussed the 2 cars in detail and because of the distance he sent me photograph evidence of the the renovation..I rang James several times to discuss the car and recieved excellent service. The car was MOTd and transported with no hitches. All my requests had been actioned and the car was as described. I could not have been happier with my purchase.

Bought a mgb GT from france directly to this dealer through photos we exchanged. It was a HUGE mistake. Car was nice on photos, and a rubbish box in real. RUN AWAY, don't trust croydon classics.

Bonjour Antoine, Je m'apprête à acheter une MGB GT a Croydon classic. J'ai vu votre post négatif, pourriez vous m'en dire plus svp? Peut on s'appeler? Merci Gregory
After viewing several unsuitable MGBs, I finally decided to visit an MGB specialist Croydon Classics. They had a wide selection and could not be any more helpfull. I purchased the perfect present from my wife !
Hi,Im from Spain and all I can said is that I will regret my whole life that I bought an MGB in september 2018 from James Barton at Croydon Classics, when I saw the car at his workshop it got new chrome wire wheels and tyres, but I let him send the car to Barcelona and by the time it was there(night time) I could not see untill the next day that he change the wheels and tyres and put a second hand ones on the car, also no electronic ignition and half tunneau cover as he promised. The wiper motor was full of water and didn't work, the radiator fan was build the other way around, the car didn't start easily because it was complete out of tune, lighter don't work, interior light don't work, the ignition barrel switch was badly connected, one ball joint rod end was complete worn out, batteries was wrong connected, etc. In summary, wherever I touch something on that car is was all wrong, they just put it together to make it look nice for a quick sale. I spend allready 5.000GBP in parts and labor untill now,but still some more jobs to do,to make it safe to drive it.
Croydon Classics are just interested in your money and is a great liar. I'm French and I bought him an MGB GT on january 2019. I meet a lot of great problems with my MGB. Avoid absolutely this man!
Coming from Germany, I came to pick the car up from Croydon Classics with my small son. All looked well, got many positive feedback to the car including saying that no major investment is needed at all. So ... I bought it looking forward for a thing in common with my son. Unfortunately that was a huge mistake! Before coming to Dover all the electric went completely off Doors impossible to lock any longer Technical check in Germany - barrel without bottom - completely rusted from bottom masked by some paint. Not only floor but also main body etc. absolutely danger to drive Wanted to return as I felt cheated completely - no answer to any call/sms/email. Just disappeared from the world.

Hello, I'm from Belgium, so sorry if my English is not that good. I bought an MGB from this dealer in 2018. He told me that he bought the car back from a customer and that he knew this car. When I inspected the car, I told him that the radiator was leaking, he replied that he just topped it up. Back in Belgium first thing I had to change was the radiator. The speedometer did not work, I had 3 tires of 1 type and a fourth of another type. When I changed the tires, it appeared that the wire wheels were totally rotten inside. I started repairing the sills as cracks appeared, I had to change half of the body of the car: full sills, bottom plates, cross member, back wings, back plate, inner wheel arches, front valence, etc... the car was held together by fibre glass and a thick layer of filler, up to 10mm in some places. What apparently seemed to be a shiny MGB was in reality a wreck. Now I can say that 'I know this car' and most of all that I know this unreliable dealer. This guy is not an MGB specialist but someone who's only out for your money, do avoid him

purchase a mgb from this croydon classics a few years ago - what a mistake - nothing but trouble - unhelpful and insulting dealer. i thought go to a recommended dealer for that peace of mind - its an old car and i expect to have to do some maintenance compared to a modern car - but bodges and dangerous fixs really are not on - since then ive discovered lots and lots of bad storys of this guy and lots of court proceedings against him . avoid at all costs - i now await a fake response to my post from the dealer in question as appears to have taken place below
Hi, I bought a car to James in "great condition, fully serviced and nothing to do except enjoy" he said. After 20 miles, brakes are binding, engine won't start when hot, Steering gaither is damaged from what I have seen so far, Contacted him, he said I should fix it by myself as the car was a bargain, or he buys it back. Behaving like a real pro, I agree for the buy back, but he "changed his mine". Legal action on going with Croydon Classics.

There is a lot of time dated evidence to prove that this car was not in proper condition when sold especially coming from a MG specialist dealer.

Hi, I have read your review. I purchased an MGB Roadster from James Barton at Croydon Classics on 4th January 2019 and have had a very similar experience to yours. In fact, an independent MG Specialist has identified several issues with the car that are dangerous and render it unroadworthy. Can I ask did your car come with a new “MOT Certificate” and where was that issued from? What stage have you reached with your legal action? Thank you Paul
Gave me 30 minutes of his time free of charge at the dealership.
