After purchasing a car described as ‘excellent condition’ we were shocked and distraught to realise we had been sold a car unroadworthy and held together with fibre glass patches. Bolts missing clamps missing and the rust had been painted over. Buyer beware. Please watch out for yourself. There are numerous reviews online of similar people - do you’re research and don’t end up £1000’s out of pocket.

If this review was left by J Hayter, the purchaser of a 1966 MGB. The car was inspected by his colleague who claimed to be a classic car rester. J Hayter insisted in taking the car on the spot without an MOT , service, or pre sales check. A discount of £2,000 was given to J Hayter to cover any unforseen repairs/expenses.

That sounds like the typical Croydon Classics vehicle. There is a workshop literally 5 meters away from James's grotty little shed where it seems all these vehicles knowingly get bodged back together. Sadly this website fights for James and allows him to cry about certain reviews and get them removed. So the problem is even worse than it appears.
I recently acquired an MGA (from a specialist MG dealership). It was in generally good condition but it had the common MGA gearbox issues and there were other minor niggles that concerned me as someone who has no mechanical engineering skills. Croydon Classics replaced the gearbox with a Ford type 9 5 speed gearbox, and also the clutch, dynamo (with an alternator), starter motor and solenoid as well as rearranging the switches on the dashboard, and installing new mirrors - all to my complete satisfaction. The new gearbox has transformed the car's performance. I can thoroughly recommend this firm for MG repairs and servicing. CFB, PURLEY

James had a recon MGB 1830 engine which he installed in my MGA to replace tired and underpowered original 1600 one. Some tech issues but James was brilliant on communication and kept me informed at all times of options and costs. Really helpful and knowledgeable. Car is transformed. Delighted to recommend Croydon Classics.

I have just bought my MG B Roadster from Croydon Classics and it’s a great car. James was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. I’ve already recommend them to my local classic car club.
J ai acheté plusieurs 1 belles MGB chez Croydon. James sympathique et réactif. Je lui ai amené 4 nouveaux clients. En tout, grâce à moi James a vendu 7 MGB. Pour me remercier il m à dit qu il me réservait une MGB 1964 pull handle dans un excellent état. La voiture est de 1964 mais pas avec les bonnes poignées l interirieur à l air de 1972 et elle a tellement de rouille que je ne peux pas rouler en France avec à cause du contrôle technique. La dernière livraison qu il a faite (4 voitures) seulement 1 était À PEU PRET bien les trois autres ne correspondaient pas du tout à ce qu il avait dit et depuis bien sur, plus de téléphone et il met mes mails à la poubelles. Je ne sais vraiment pas d où viennent tous ces avis extraordinaires mais ce monsieur n ai pas un bon professionnel à qui on peut faire confiance, il est imprévisible.

Translate - I bought several 1 nice MGBs from Croydon. James friendly and responsive. I brought him 4 new clients. In all, thanks to me James sold 7 MGB. To thank me he said that he had reserved a handle of MGB 1964 prints for me in excellent condition. The car is from 1964 but not with the right handles and the interior looks from 1972 and it has so much rust that I cannot drive in France with it due to the MOT. The last delivery he made (4 cars) only 1 was SO READY well the other three did not correspond at all to what he had said and since then, of course, no more phone calls and he encountered my emails in the trash. I really don't know where all this extraordinary advice comes from, but this gentleman is not a good professional who can be trusted, he is unpredictable. Ces autres critiques sont fausses et faites par le propriétaire de la salle d'exposition dans le but d'augmenter le pourcentage de la note d'évaluation. Vous n'avez besoin que d'une adresse e-mail pour afficher ici. Cet homme est malhonnête, surtout envers les acheteurs étrangers car ils ont très peu de droits. Ma MG était pleine de rouille sur le devant, le capot et les panneaux latéraux et cela m'a coûté cher à réparer, le propriétaire ne m'aide pas et ne sert à rien.

My experience with Croydon Classics was great. I purchased an MGB GT from photos and video sent to me by James. Everything went smoothly and he was very helpful, professional and was ready to answer any questions I had. He made me feel at ease about the whole thing. When the MGB was delivered to me, I was pleased to see true to his word the car was as described. Nothing seems to be any problem to this dealer. I would definitely recommend Croydon Classics!

Purchased an MGB GT from Croydon Classics Fantastic sales. I purchased my MGB from Croydon Classics and from viewing the car to picking it up, it was fantastic service. I dealt with James who was friendly, helpful and very polite. When I pointed out something he said would be replaced on the car, but hadn't been, he dealt with it straight away. Very professional and went out of his way to make everything easy for me. Great in every respect!
