very pleased with the Yaris. staff very friendly and courteos. would recommend.
My son was looking for a first car. DJ Whymans Cars were brilliant. Martin was really helpful at the garage. We found a great car with DJ Whyman. I would recommend them because they went above and beyond to get a car for my son.

What can I say about D J Whymans, other than outstanding in every way, and the only garage I’ll ever buy a used car from. The guys there are all professional, non pushy, easy to talk to and very accommodating. All the cars on the forecourt are clean, well presented and come with excellent credentials. You get the reassuring feeling that all the cars for sale have been meticulously picked and well checked before hitting the forecourt. The after sale is also phenomenal and they take everything seriously and you get a sense of caring. They have looked after me after buying my latest car like no other garage and for that will have me as a loyal customer for life. I would recommend checking this garage out before going anywhere else.
Brought a fiesta a few months back now and the car has been exactly as described aside from the horn which was fixed the same day i mentioned, the service has been great and id like to thank everyone there, especially stewart
Terrible terrible company. Fuel leak on a car 1 month after purchasing due to the fuel injector coming of and almost caused an accident. Followed by the fuel injector then coming loose and having to have the car repaired again. Little car given by D J Whyman. Gone to sell the car only to find out the car has been brought from the salavage auction!!!!! Which means the car was only worth £2250 due to this marker. At no point when purchasing the car was we made aware of this. Gone back to the dealership and complained the agreed to by the car back off us at £4250, and the owner quoted “I’m paying this just to make it all go away”. I can now see the car is BACK up for sale for £7000 this car is a death trap! We have been left incredibly out of pocket and they are now putting someone else life in danger. Terrible company. And will be now taking this further!

Steve really took care of me from the viewing of the car, to the purchase of it and made me feel at ease throughout. It was my first time buying a car and he was happy to take the time to explain the process of things and address any of my queries. Lovely people, I felt reassured and so happy with my car! Thanks again Steve and everyone at DJ Whyman cars, can’t recommend enough!

I did not want to put a review for DJ Whyman but after all the problems and the car now for sale again I felt I had to for my own piece of mind. I have previously bought 5 cars from them and my relatives and friends who I recommended also bought 10 cars in total. On 30th Dec 2022 I bought two Audi cars from Whyman’s a saloon for my son £9295 and a convertible for me £6495 a total cost of £15790. On picking up my convertible the hood stopped working so my son left with his new car but mine remained there to be fixed. From that point onwards I had to return my car during the 3-month warranty to the garage 6 times for problems with the hood and to have work done as it kept burning a litre of oil every 2 weeks. After the warranty the hood kept coming away from the mountings so after all the attempts to fix it the decided to try and glue the hood at the rear. This still did not work so more time back in the garage. They tried glue again but still no luck. At the same time and during his warranty my son’s Audi also had problems. 5 days after purchase the fuel pipe came off while he was driving on the M69, and he lost control of the car as the fuel gushing out all over the brakes etc. He managed to stop and luckily was safe. The AA came out and fixed it but the car stunk of diesel so it went back to Whyman’s who said they would clean up the engine. Following the clean up the smell remained for about another 2 weeks. A few weeks later the car had a problem moving so we called the AA who said one of the fuel injectors had ceased to work so they fitted a new one which cost £700. I told Whyman’s and Steve the owner said he would contribute £350 towards the cost even though it was still under warranty. Still within warranty and a few weeks later part of the suspension collapsed and once more the AA had to be called and towed the vehicle to Whyman’s who fixed the issue. Finally a few days after that the car broke down again and had to have the other 3 fuel injectors replaced. Since then, my son’s car has been okay. My car still had problems with the hood and finally in early September 9 months after buying the convertible Whyman’s agreed to take the car back as the hood was never going to work properly and Steve the owner said he could not afford to replace it as it would cost £2000. He said he would take the car back and gibe me £4000 which I immediately rejected as the problem was still there from day 1 of purchase. He the upped the offer to £5000 which left me with a loss of £1495. I had no real choice but to accept it. I now see on the forecourt my old Audi up for sale at £5995 which was like another kick in the teeth so in theory Steve made another £995 profit from me. What should have happened is Whyman’s should have replaced the hood for me once they realised, they could never fix it. During this time my car spent over a month in and out of their garage. This has been one of the most stressful times of my life and as a military veteran of 33 years in every war zone since the Falklands it has really affected me and seeing the car up for sale at a profit again, I felt I had to share this even though I was prepared to take the hits and financial loss which should not have happened. Maybe we were just unlucky – I hope the hood was replaced for whoever buys it now.

Steve Whyman from D J Whymans Cars Ltd in response to Terrible Experience
We are sorry you felt the need to write this review regarding your Audi convertible and we do admit to the ongoing problem you had. However, the problem was never with the convertible roof that you described but with the trim panel that attaches to the rear seats! Due to there being very little room to work around this it was difficult to work on. We did eventually sort the problem out after we took the car back from you in part exchange. After using your latest car for a few weeks you were unhappy with the clutch (being heavier than you were used to) so this was replaced and we supplied a loan car while it was being sorted all free of charge. We hope you are happy with your latest car but we are always available to chat with if you have any problems.

Steve, regarding the Audi I felt ripped off as the problem started the day I bought the car and was never fixed in the 9 months I had it and you state you have fixed it now. Why did not you fix it for me instead of trying to glue it each time? The car I had in place of the Audi did not have a heavy clutch. The clutch had gone days after receiving it as I crawled home from Coventry to your garage in Leicester where Martin drove it for a few yards and said "yes the clutch had gone".
Had nothing but problems with this car since the day we bought it been into the garage numerous times as Red engine management light keeps coming in my husband has spent alot of money trying to get this problem fixed would never buy from here again i also bought a car from here & the clutch pedal snapped under my feet whilst driving also returned a previous car has engine management light kept coming on.
1st Class in all aspects, would highly recommend DJ Whymans Cars.

I unfortunately had to give DJ Whymans Cars at least 1 star in order to leave a review. After several weeks of research, we found the car we wanted so we contacted DJ Whyman to go and view and do a test drive. When we called they advised that the car had a funny 'squeak' noise coming from the front passenger side. We were told it was going in to be checked out and would be repaired before we collect if interested. It's annoying they don't bother to add any of this information to the advert as they'd have to tell a potential buyer anyway. We went along anyway (drove 2.5 hours each way) as it was reassuring that the car was being booked in. The test drive did prove to be quite 'squeaky' so as much as we liked the car, we made sure it was going to be booked in and resolved before we paid anything towards it. We were told by the salesman that he'd been personally driving the car for 6 months, yet he knew very little about it. He told us it had front and rear parking sensors yet we knew from our research they only come with rear parking sensors. He laughed it off but it was ridiculous to not know this. He also didn't know that on an Audi A5 the windows have to come down a little when the doors open/close as there is no rim around the glass. If I had been driving a car for 6 days I'd know this, nevermind 6 months. The car also had a funny smell inside like it hadn't been opened for weeks and there were crushed crisps in crease of the back seat. When we pulled up outside they had a guy touching up the paint on a couple of cars, so I immediately checked all the paintwork on the car and signs of any touch-ups. There were scuffs and scratches that were not mentioned (again) in the description. It was advertised as having 'excellent' body work. I would disagree. The alloys were scuffed on the driver's side quite noticeably, again not mentioned. It's a 2012 model so you expect some wear and tear but to falsely advertise it is not acceptable. The salesman also didn't know how the paddle shift on the steering wheel operated properly or much of the driver information panel. I ignored this at the time and gave him the benefit of the doubt. We agreed to buy the car as long as the issue was resolved as promised. He took our number, promised not to sell it to anyone else. The car was apparently booked in the next day - that was 3 days ago and we've still not had an update. I thought in sales it would be common courtesy to keep clients up to date but it's clear that customer service isn't a priority here. As simple as they made this squeak sound, it's odd that it's taken 3 days (so far) and when the salesman was last contacted for an update this morning he couldn't wait to get off the phone and even tried to cut us off. I would not deal with this company again. I felt lied to from the start and the fact the guy knew nothing about the car was a little embarrassing. He had a good 3 hours notice of our arrival and could have made a bit of an effort to find something useful out about it, but sadly it was disappointing all round. During the test drive he hardly said a word, we did all the talking and discussed between us the features and mpg etc. I started to feel like he was someone who accidentally just got in the car it was quite awkward. The car seemed lovely but I'm not taking a risk, there are plenty more out there! Also when DJ Whyman offer you a 3 month warranty - they don't. They offer a full 1 month warranty for parts etc but after that month, it's only half...make sure that is clarified. I don't know if this was relevant to the Audi we viewed I don't know. We actually know quite a lot about cars so it's always an advantage when we're in this position but a lot of people don't and have to rely on salesmen to offer them a good deal for their money. A lot of research, videos, reviews are advised for any car you're looking at and ask LOADS of questions. If the sales person looks uncomfortable or can't answer, find someone who can because it's an investment and you don't want to be short changed.

Mrs P in response to Bad Customer Service
**UPDATE** Literally seconds after writing this review, a mechanic called us about the Audi to advise they've replaced shock absorbers (4) and the squeak is still there. They're going to try and resolve it and have asked if we want an update. I think we'll give it a miss thank you! This sounds like it could go on for some time.

The first thing i told MR Phillips on the phone the car has a squeek at the front of the car and we need time to resolve it. After driving the car he wanted to go ahead on the deal and would let us phone when ready. The next thing he has posted a nasty review making me out as a smelly idiot.
GLEN POSTLE from D J Whymans Cars Ltd in response to Bad Customer Service
Hello MRS P. I have recently been made aware of your review. I apologise for your bad experience at D.J.WHYMAN CARS LTD. when you travelled some distance to drive the SILVER 2012 AUDI A5 which was obviously not up to our usual high standard of preparation. We will continue to ensure all our vehicles are to a retail condition , which is normally the case , prior to being advertised but unfortunately on this occasion we did get it wrong. D.J. WHYMAN CARS LTD. has been trading for over 40 years and has a very good reputation and thankfully a lot of repeat customers so you can understand my disappointment when i read your comments. Can I also say sorry for the original response which was very unprofessional. Glen Postle . D.J.WHYMAN CARS LTD.
