Bought a Renault Clio from him in 2004 (I’ve a long memory!). Should’ve paid more attention to how dodgy the car was when I viewed it, e.g. aftermarket central locking added to a car that came with central locking as standard... Had no end of trouble with the car which eventually threw a con-rod lunching the engine. He refused to honour the warranty or do anything to assist. He said “I’d never sell you a car again” which is a very odd thing to say. I’m certain he knew what a shit-box the car was and didn’t care once it was driven away. If you must buy from him, do it with your eyes wide open!

He sold me a landcover that was faulty, I took it back and it broke in front of his garage mate, he had to repair it (I had it A WEEK) he then tried to charge me for the repair (I was lucky enough the garage gave me the keys back) and I said no, few months later he tried to barge in my house and ended up in a fist fight, police were involved and he was taken to court for his offence, this guy is a shocking individual and should be banned from selling used cars
I Phoned David Turnbull Cars about a Mercedes i was interested in. David was so knowledgeable about the car, answered all my questions with confidence, so I had to call up. Quite easy to find. Good selection of cars. David is friendly and not pushy in any way, he informed me about all the different features that the car had. It was nice to find an honest car trader, the Mercedes was so immaculate, and you can instantly tell David prides himself with only the best cars, that I just had to buy it. I have recommended David Turnbull Cars to my family and friends. The best thing is my car has still been perfect. no problems at all. I'd never buy a car from this man again. From the very start he makes you feel uneasy. I was told that his prices were below what you'd expect to pay through a dealer but when I pointed out I'd looked at the same car elsewhere for a little below what he was asking but was now sold he refused to believe me. He wouldn't budge on price, he wouldn't replace tyres that were bald telling me they had a few thousand miles on them and that the price was sufficiently low for me to replace them. I had the tyres checked - they were bald. The car had a problem after a week or so which he did everything possible to get out of repairing it. He told me it didn't have a problem when he drove it before I bought it! I was told if I tried to get legal advice to get it sorted he would delay it and delay it. I eventually went to a main dealer to get it rectified at my own cost. He's unprofessional and uncaring and will not repair vehicles that have any kind of fault once you've left the site.

Totally agree! I had exactly the same issues with a car i brought! The parts alone came to more than what I actually paid for the car! Which was £2000 that’s without labour!

I bought a land rover from him and the handbrake failed took it back a week later and it got stuck on his friends garage forecourt so he had to fix it, expected me to pay half and I said "do what you need to, to get it working" he expected me to pay for the repair, I picked the car up and told the garage the dealer would sort, and chased me for £600 for a few months, all went quiet then he tuned up at my house with a transporter and tried to gain access to my home, with my wife 8 months pregnant he fought his way in when I answered the door and I had several bruises from the incident as I ejected him from my house, he was taken to court because of his actions a few charges, also his real name is Robert David Turnbull which we found out in court not David Turnbull, one thing he was full of was rubbish
