A little story about Deane Motors.. The finance agreement has since been dissolved and the deposit reclaimed under the CCA S75 as it was paid by credit card. The vehicle in fact had several faults, ranging from very minor to severe and in fact made the vehicle not only illegal to be driven but unsafe and not fit for purpose. The pursuer was in fact made to wait in excess of 4 hours on the date of collection while the defender repaired the air conditioning unit. Despite this, the repair only lasted for a matter of hours and failed again during the return journey home. Also during the return journey, it was noticed that the rear-view window washer had a fault and would not spray water. The pursuer contacted the defender regarding this, and was informed that they would meet the cost if the pursuer took the vehicle to a local garage. The defender specifically stated that they did not wish the vehicle to be taken to an official Subaru dealer. While driving to the local garageyet another fault appeared, this time it was in fact the engine management system. The vehicle went into ‘limp mode’ and would not drive faster than 40MPH. The engine management fault was cleared by the garage, and the fault with the rear window washer confirmed as the water pump. These findings, along with the engine management fault was reported back to Deane Motors (Richard). Within 24 hours the pursuer again had engine management issues and returned to have the fault cleared for a second time. Upon closer inspection it became aparrant that the catalytic convertor had been removed. The removal of a catalytic convertor is in fact illegal and deems the car unfit for purpose. It was also discovered that the vehicle had several aftermarket modifications, including a complete engine re-map which was not disclosed to the pursuer or advertised at point of sale. The original horsepower of the vehicle when new was 251BHP yet the vehicle was outputting in excess of 300BHP (the vehicle is 7 years old). There is also a list of other faults, which are included in the attached indipendant reports. The pursuer attempted to contact Deane Motors regarding the faults and was informed by Richard that the person in charge (Mark) was not available. The pursuer attempted calling Deane Motors again for several days and was met with aggressive behaviour. The pursuer stated that he was rejecting the vehicle due to the faults found. Richard stated that the pursuer should ‘do what he wanted as he didn’t care. The owner was not back until at least Tuesday’. The deposit for the vehicle was paid for by credit card, which has since been reclaimed by the pursuers bank under the rules set out in the Consumer Credit Act, Section 75. The remainder of the vehicle was paid for on a Hire Purchase Agreement, After receiving a copy of the report from the local garage the HP company ordered an independent assessment to be carried out. The assessment was carried out and not only confirmed what the pursuer had claimed but in fact found more faults with the vehicle. The report stated that ‘at time of sale the vehicle was not fit for purpose’, among other comments. In order to get the vehicle back to his property, the vehicle again had to have the engine management system reset as it once again came on during the assessment by D Campbell Assessors. As a result, the HP company agreed that there were more than adequate reasons to reject the vehicle, specifically due to the fact the vehicle could not legally be driven. They have since agreed to dissolve the contract and release the pursuer from any further payments. The pursuer also sold the vehicle with a warranty, however, due to the nature of the modifications and faults with the vehicle the warranty company stated categorically that they would not rectify any issues found.

Dashboard warning light illuminated during test drive. Due to low pressure in nearside rear tyre. Car taken to w/shop & I was assured it was sorted. Paid my money. SAME tyre continued to deflate very slowly after purchase. Within 200 miles of purchase mileage I took it to a tyre repair centre. Long-standing small pin close to edge of tyre necessitated new tyre (£220). I was incredibly reasonable and even contacted Deane Motors before going to tyre centre. HOWEVER AFTER I'd been to the tyre centre they argued that the nail could have been picked up after I left the garage. Guess I couldn't PROVE that that wasn't the case. BUT DOES SEEM VERY UNLIKELY INDEED given the sequence of events. THEY ADMITTED not checking the tyre for a nail or similar but simply reset the sensor, saying it was because all four wheels had been off the vehicle for refurbishment. I argued that it was just one tyre and the same tyre again within days of me driving away. After my initial conversation I'd expected a full re-reimbursement for the tyre as they agreed with what was said. However, after the event, they flatly refused to make ANY contribution towards the tyre. I certainly would not do business with this crew again. Left very disappointed. If I get resolution then I'll gladly pen an update but how can you seek a reasonable resolution when, they just put the phone down on you? Shocked and upset. Is that really post-sale customer service? I like the car (3-yr old BMW 330d Touring) and would recommend IT, but not chuffed with how I've been treated. I made the mistake of trusting that they'd conducted the necessary checks. I'm not saying they sold the car KNOWING there was a nail in the tyre. I have no proof of that. But they did sell me the car WITH the problem and refused to consider any resolution.

Mark cole from Deane Motors Ltd in response to DISAPPOINTING post-sale experience!
Hi, i have just been made aware of your case and I'm sorry that you feel you have been poorly treated by Deane Motors. We would normally love to help but unfortunately your vehicle warranty does not cover punctures, especially having travelled hundreds of miles since collection. Regards. Deane Motors Ltd.
Very happy Customer! I bought a BMW 118D in August and I have had no issues with it at all. The car was nice and clean and in good condition and a very good price. I would definitely recommend this dealership to anyone looking to buy a good quality car.

I bought a car from Deane Motors in August. The car as not very clean or as described, there were various marks on it and no service book. I have been chasing them for it and they have not provided one so I have had to sort it out myself. The dealers were not very helpful at all and I wouldn't recommend them.

I purchased a car in May. I've always had the climate control in Auto which has the AC on. As the temperature has got lower I noticed a whirring noise that is linked to the engine revs. I've figured out now that this is due to the air con clutch not engaging at low temperatures when the car sees the air con as not required. I think it's below 4 degrees from my testing. If above this temperature I can hear the air con clutch engage and disengage as I turn it on or off using the switch. When the air con is off the whirring noise is there and when the air con is on the clutch engages and the noise goes away so the issue is related to the air con clutch. With the car I've always had the climate control set to auto, that's the way it was when I received it and had no reason to change it. I would only have noticed this fault when the temperature reduced enough for the air con not to come on even when it is switched on on the dash. I just spoke to someone at the garage and he refused to do anything about it and tried tripping me up which he wasn't able to do. He tried to turn things I said around on me like when I said that I could hear the air con clutch engage and disengage he said well I should have heard the sound already then if I had disengaged it so the fault it new. I did explain that I had experimented with turning it on and off to figure out what the noise was after it appeared 2 weeks ago. I had always had it in Auto before then as I had no reason to turn that off. Very unhelpful and just tried to turn everything against me making me. He kept saying that the faults just developed and I asked how he could possibly say that when the temperature has only just got low enough for the problem to appear on Auto mode. Won't be using Deane Motors again.
M Cole from Deane Motors Ltd in response to Tony Bond
Mr Bond, I am sorry to hear that you have had a negative experience with your vehicle purchased from ourselves back in May. Unfortunately your vehicle is outside of its warranty period. Extended low cost National warranties were available to you at the point of purchase to protect you from potential future motoring costs. Our records show you did not extend your warranty. Regards Deane Motors Ltd
Brilliant experience with Deane Motors. I purchased a Mercedes Benz in July and I have had no major issues with it at all. The dealers have been great and the car was a brilliant price. I would happily recommend this dealership to my friends and family.

Just spent £19000 here on a vehicle I've been looking for a very long time with right mileage and right history can not fault the garage any way shape or form nice friendly guys what more do you want no pressure like from previous garages I have visited end of the day all you want is the car and no mither and that's just what I got good service from mark nice lad .
I bought a car from Deane Motors back in June. The service is good and they are willing to try to resolve issues but my car has been back to them 5 or 6 times now and the issues are still ongoing. I would recommend them if they get it right this time but if not I may have to look into rejecting the vehicle.
