I bought a 5k car and it lasted me 2 months, it should never have passed it’s MOT never mind been sold, they were rude and had a disgusting approach to the matter
Never trust Dunwell Motor Group. they provide warranties that are generally worthless and when I researched the MOT history found that various serious advisories that had not been rectified but had been removed from the MOT record on multiple tests. Don't rely on DVLA as they can't help either! So I will pay for the repairs and never recommend Dunwell to anyone.

We have had very poor after sales service on both cars that we purchased early 2019. We had told the dealership we heard a scraping noise when applying the brakes which they promised to fix. We had the car there for two weeks. When we picked the car up it was still making the noise. I contacted the mechanic, who told me he had fixed the brakes. We took the car back and the dealer principal told us he could not hear a noise and it was probably the new brakes settling in or dust from standing. After a lengthy verbal dispute we decided to take the car to another dealership. The brakes were corroded and two disks had to be replaced. We phoned the dealership and they said they were reluctant to pay for another garages repairs. I took the parts in and was told how useless the other dealership was and this also turned into a verbal slinging match and ended with the dealer principal throwing the parts out the garage and being told to get out of his garage. This dealerahip does its own MOT's and according to an independent source the car should not have passed the MOT with the condition the brakes were in. Not a pleasant situation and or experience with Dunwell Motor Group.

Terry Thomson from Dunwell Motor Group in response to Poor after sales faulty brakes
We are sorry to hear you are unsatisfied Kieron. We apologise we had the car in for longer than expected but at the time we explained this due to awaiting a second key arriving to be coded and you mentioned you didn't need the car as you were away. We tried to resolve the brake issue with you as there was no noise when in at the dealership and you agreed when you were here. The disagreement only came to light when you came in months after visiting kwik fit who had sold you brakes, you brought in the old ones complaining they were worn. They were worn but were 100% legal and we refused to pay kwik fits prices for new brakes that you had been upsold.
I have only had my car a fortnight but wouldn’t recommend Dunwell Motor Company in Tranent to anyone, very nice till they get paid, poor aftersales.
Terry Thomson from Dunwell Motor Group in response to Debate about faulty brakes
Hi William. We can't find you're details on the system. If you could get in touch and we are happy to go over you're query and assist where we can. Thanks.
I found all of the staff at Dunwell Motor Group to be very helpful. I bought a Ford Focus a few months ago and up to now I have had no issues with it that haven't been fixed quickly and easily with no problems. The car was in good condition when I received it and the value for money is good. I would recommend this dealership to my friends and family.

Purchased a car after taking for a test drive, as car was a VW it required an emissions update test and discovered a vital filter was missing in the car and clearly had been for a while. Attempted to ask Dunwell about this and they ignored everything I had to say replying with it was certainly there when they sold me the car. Will be taking Dunwell Motor Company to court to get the repair money refunded.

Marcus Thomson from Dunwell Motor Group in response to Car unsafe and illegal
Hi Rachel Thank you for you're review. We would like to add that you had no issues with the car and we only heard from you 5 month after purchase due to you're car getting a recall from VW. After the recall is when you had the problem and we cannot be held liable for VW emission scandal. Thanks
Paid a deposit over the phone so they would MOT the car ready for us to drive away and save two trips from Arbroath. Said the deposit was refundable if we didn't take the car. Went through to test drive it and it was a wreck, rusty, heavy steering and a suspicious clunking noise from the rear end. We of course declined the car but they refused to return the deposit which they are obliged to do under distance selling regulations - 14 day cooling off period. They got very aggressive and we left without our money. Debating whether to take them to court but given they've no assets and in hock to the bank, doesn't seem worth it. Avoid them at all costs!

Marcus Thomson from Dunwell Motor Group in response to Non Refundable Deposit
Rosie phoned us up on a X-Trail. After a discussion Rosie was driving down from Arbroath so she wanted to be able to do one trip and pick up the car, we explained the only way to do that would be a deposit that is non refundable as we had to go through the admin process, adding an owner onto the vehcile and putting it through the workshop as well as an MOT. Rosie had no issue with this so put down her £300 deposit. Rosie came down and test drove the vehicle and went over it. She claimed the steering was to heavy and maybe thought a 4x4 was the wrong choice. Rosie then insisted on going for a coffee to discuss with her partner. 3 hours later Rosie returned wanting her Deposit back, we repeated it was non refundable but we would refund £150 as that was our standard deposit, Rosie then lost her temper and insulted our saleswomen by shouting and calling her names. She had to be removed from the premises. It later came out Rosie bought the exact car from another dealer in edinburgh who we know well. So she was playing a game.
d daley in response to Non Refundable Deposit
i have read a lot of negative reviews regarding this company it always appears to be some one elses fault if you need to go to court to get simple repairs or refunds i would look elsewhere i know the garages do not make the cars but they sell them and take the money what a shame buyer beware
Very happy with the experience I had at Dunwell. They were professional and curtious and nothing was too much for them. I would definately recommend this dealership!
