Our visit to Eddie Wrights in Scunthorpe was to just have a nosey around to see what was out there to replace our ageing but still very reliable Ford Fiesta. We were looking for something bigger but not silly size, after all there's only the two of us. Spotted a nice Vauxhall Crossland and then had a wander round a few hundred more vehicles but still came back to the Crossland. The salesman we had helping us was Ashley, what a great guy! Not pushy, answered any questions and was a VERY interesting chap. If you visit this showroom be sure to ask for him, you won't be disappointed!!!! We quickly decided this car was for us, we were a bit shocked with the very low offer of part exchange for our vehicle, we actually got twice the amount selling to someone else in the trade who never quibbled about the Ford. Our purchase was to be a cash buy, sounds straightforward, er not. We had no idea about the £199 admin fee that suddenly appeared out of the blue and was to be added to the cost of the car, really? For a cash sale??? We seriously considered walking away but after a bit of deliberation decided to continue with the purchase. We arranged a date for collection, first thing we did when we got back home was go back to the EW website and see where it states about the admin fee, it was certainly well hidden. Go to the home page, and scroll down, keep going, a bit more, nearly there....at the very bottom of the page is Terms & Conditions.....it's in there, really? I'm 62 and have never met ANYONE with enough time on their hands to read the 'small print'. We thought it a little bit naughty if I'm honest with you, surely each car description should have 'this vehicle is subject to the following fees' somewhere easy to read but I guess that could deter a lot of buyers who have a budget to work with. Collection day arrived and more excellent banter with Ashley. A little bit of advice for management: look after this guy, he's a gem of a bloke! Car is fantastic although we've only done a few miles in it, I'm sure it will be a good 'un though. We're awaiting the vehicles manuals which, when we got home, found they were 'missing' from the glovebox, time will tell if they arrive in the post. There was an offer with the vehicle purchase for 'free' RAC breakdown, again be careful, not all that it seems. Yes you get 12 months free cover, but for the lowest service they can possibly give! Anything else is, yup you guessed, MORE money. To get the equivalent breakdown service as the one we already had for our TWO cars (this was £40 for the year) was going to be at least extra another £56, and that was for one vehicle! Don't forget though folks, if you go to EW's, ask for Ashley!

So I bought my Abarth 595 online without seeing it as I live 100 miles away. I had to contact the dealer as I had no confirmation from them that the car was ready for the collection day I asked for. Once on the phone to them I was kindly greeted and said the car was ready and they looked forward to seeing me the following day. So the next day arrives and I catch the train ready for the 4 hour journey. About 1 hour into my journey I get a phone call off Janelle asking if they can move the collection day to the following day because the brakes hadn’t turned up which needed replacing. I said no because I was already on my way and spent a considerable amount on the ticket. To give them credit they managed to get the back brakes and fitted but it wasn’t till 5 hours after I arrived in Scunthorpe. I was told I would be picked up from the rail station when I arrived. I was waiting there 30 mins before I rang to ask where Janelle was who was supposed to be looking after me.l that day. He answered and said the car wasn’t ready yet and for me to walk around town and find some food, he’d then call me back once the car was ready. So after leaving me in an area I don’t know for 3 hours I phoned back to see what’s happening. I ended up walking to the dealership where I was greeted by Janelle who didn’t seem very bothered. I was then greeted by the service manager who was very polite and apologetic for what had happened and that they’d get the car sorted as soon as possible. After the paperwork was signed Janelle just left me for a further 2 hours without coming to check on me or tell me the progress of the car. After the 2 hours the car was ready then he shown me to the car. He didn’t show me how anything worked and just walked off. I’m very disappointed with the lack of effort and professionalism of some of the staff here. Yes they went out of their way to get the brakes fitted but this should have been sorted before agreeing the collection date with me. Once I got home the car has a problem with the central locking so I now need to get this sorted with the dealership. Im waiting to hear back from them. Also the registration number needs to be transferred back to the original plate which they haven’t contacted me about anything. Again I’m just very disappointed and dissatisfied with the way I was treated, especially after travelling for 4 hours to be left in a town I don’t know.

I would highly recommend Eddie Wright service was fantastic salesman Sherrick was brilliant only downside was a slight delay to collection time and a £199 admin fee but they was a cash sale so i couldn’t see what the £199 was for really. i would definitely deal with them again
