"DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!!"

DO NOT BUY FROM HERE!!!! Unfortunate I have to put at least one star! I bought a car in January, I had it 4hours when the gearbox dangerously broke. They also force you to write a review while in the showroom buying the car, meaning they get their bonus but don’t believe the reviews ask people who have dealt with them because I found that out the hard way. I had loads of problems throughout dealing with the company. The admin assistants spoke badly about me when they thought they’d put the phone on hold. My car was STOLEN by a technician and driven to his house when it was deemed unsafe to drive. I was not asked permission and he then drove my car at 63mph through a 30mph zone as I had a tracker in the car. The car I purchased had a scratched mirror which took months to be replaced although they said they would do this before I picked it up, the SD was fake for the satnav and just played music, there was no manual although promised, the car was not serviced when I was given paperwork to say it had been. The car went to two different garages as Eddie Wright couldn’t repair the car, they lied about the whereabouts of the car. The car had a new mechatronic unit, auxiliary pump driver, new gearbox, software updates and then both the keys stopped working. The GARAGE LIED to my finance company when speaking with them and I have proof for this. You’re constantly lied to and false promises, they refused to collect the car to fix it so I had to use my own recovery. The car was meant to be taken to a garage, I had been receiving phone calls asking where it was so I rang Eddie Wright asking why it wasn’t there and I was told they couldn’t locate the car. I gave them a timescale to find the car or I would call the POLICE. Apparently someone had taken it on a test drive without informing anyone but the worker proceed to scream down the phone at me. In my ownership the garage had the car 96 days when I had it 106. They gave me unsafe courtesy cars, such as drivers seatbelts not attached, smelling of smoke, no batteries in the keys and ILLEGAL bald tyres. They have put me in a terrible position, I’ve been without a car for two months and I’ve not had any apologies. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! DO NOT GIVE THESE LIARS ANY OF YOUR MONEY!!

I will try to keep it short as people get bored of the essays. Bought a Range Rover Sport for £24k, 10 days in terrible noise coming from the suspension Eddie Wrights (EW) said take it to a local garage they found. Bill was £1700, EW unwilling to pay so said the would collect. The courtesy car the provided was a Golf, within 24 hours there was a horrific knocking noise coming from the front wheel, I reported it to EW and parked the car up until they returned mine – 4 days without a car. I advised the car was undriveable and not road worthy and would need recovering, a chap turned up to return my car and take the courtesy car away, he was not told there were any issues and I told him not to drive it as it was dangerous. 1 mile from my house a wheel flew off ripping up the side of the car, luckily no one was in the way of the loose wheel otherwise there would have been serious injury. Had my car a further 2 weeks and the noise from the suspension came back along with a suspension warning light, called EW and they said they would collect when I got back off holiday. Returned from holiday and more lights and warnings came on, told EW it was urgent now and the car couldn’t be driven. EW collected car, dropped of an 11 plate Seat that looked battle worn, service light on, light warning for side light not working, rear wiper didn’t work, CC didn’t work and shook violently when going over 60 mph. 4 days in I ran in to the back of a car at traffic lights, rear end so my fault I thought until the recovery vehicle pointed out the stat of the rear brakes, chunks missing from disk, calliper not working. Told EW, by this point I’d had enough, 3 cars 2 in a state of dangerous disrepair and 1 multiple faults, requested a refund. Refund refused plus they asked for £1000 excess for the Seat, told them no chance, had the brakes inspected at MOT centre, confirmed brake were shot plus 1 tyre worn to cords, one worn to slick, one tyre had chunks out. At this point they waved the £1000, refused the refund and returned my car – 6 days without a car. When the returned the car the suspension was at different hights so I told then fault not fixed so take it away. Called the infamous Jon (never in the office, cant answer emails, just in a meeting) and told him I want a full refund, he refused said the car was fine and now as I had refused it I would have to go and collect it. Utter disgrace. I’m going legal and reporting them for unsafe practices

I write this review in total despair and with no malice to the dealer, however, buyers beware when relying on advice on a car's history from a dealer. I purchased my Land Rover Sport in January 2022 for £29000, not a cheap car, I bought the RAC platinum warranty and Financed it through NOVA Finance. I have kept the car serviced MOT'd and in good condition. So this week I decided to sell the vehicle and purchase a new car, I was selling my Land Rover through the Motorway platform, so I get a price of £19433 estimated at auction, and I was okay with this. Today I receive an email from the motorway people advising me that they cannot sell the car as a VCHECK marker has revealed that the vehicle was sold for salvage as stolen/recovered but was NOT listed as an insurance write-off. The HPI check is useless as they do not do these checks for salvage cars or taxis. I never heard of VCHECK until today, it's more in-depth than HPI. It tells you the true history of the car, and lets you know if the vehicle was used as a taxi! Having been advised of this, I rang the dealership today, and the dealership believed that the HPI is sufficient and NOVA would not finance the car if there were any issues. I have called NOVA and lodged a complaint, I am massively going the be disadvantageous by this revelation, I told them I would not have bought the car if I had known its true history. I urge anyone, to do in-depth checks, the cycle of complaints has started with NOVA and I look forward to months of worry, I'll keep paying the monthly payments now knowing that I bought a salvage car, to stop paying will mean poor credit report on top of devaluation on the vehicle. I advise anyone to make forensic checks when buying, no matter what, who and where. This is a valuable lesson learnt and left me feeling sick to my stomach.

Peter Machesney in response to Feel sick to stomach, dont trust on HPI

If you originally purchased the car from a dealer it is then up to them to check the history. You should have a full claim and refund of the original price.

Return visit to purchase a vehicle, the vehicle in question BMW 420d M sport. On inspection the vehicle was presented and described exactly as advertised. Negotiations started on the 5th June 2023 @ 3pm and concluded@3.30pm. I put this down to the professional expertise of Mr David Burdett whom explained all the instrumentation internally and externally of the vehicle. One final word, prior to my visit I made contact by phone and the politeness I received plus pointing me the right direction was very re-assuring. Thank you once again everybody at Eddie Wright Car Sales Scunthorpe. And not forgetting DAVE.

AVOID!!! An absolute joke of a company. DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM EDDIE WRIGHT! The purchase of the car was smooth enough. But that is literally where any positives end. Two days after purchasing my Hyundai Veloster in February 2022 I called them emailed to complain that the touch screen on the Stereo / sat nav wasn’t working and that the back up camera was blurred. As I wasn’t local they agreed for me to take it to my local dealership to get it fixed. The price quoted by the dealership was too high for Eddie Wright to agree to fix so they said they would order a replacement stereo. Several months and I mean several of unanswered phone calls and promises of a new stereo being ordered and never arriving eventually they sent me one. Only problem being it was the wrong stereo. I was then told again they would order another one. Two months went past again with no returned phone calls and no sign of any other stereo. I was then asked if I could source an off market stereo. I reluctantly agreed to this. Having taken the car to two separate audio specialists both said they couldn’t get one that would give full functionality. I was then told again they would order another one. I gave this another few weeks again no sign of the stereo. At this point It was now February 2023 I told their operations manager Jon Boroughton that clearly they aren’t able to source a stereo I’m beyond fed up of the hassle and that I just want some money back to put the full thing to bed. He asked how much I thought would be fair. At that point I said due to the sat nav and back up camera not working and what I’d pay had I bought the car without those features £800 would be fair. He said he’d get back to me. As usual it took me to call him a few days later. I was told his directors agreed to pay the £800. Great I can finally just chalk this up to a bad experience. That was almost 6 weeks ago. I’ve been told there has been cheques in the post. I’ve been told the money has been sent. I’ve been told I’ll be sent a screenshot of the money being sent. Still absolutely zero sign of the money. I have now been told they’ve found me a new stereo. It will be delivered to me in the next few days. A few things this was supposedly ordered on the 28th of March. One of the mythical times I was told the agreed £800 was sent was after the 28th of March. Also I’m now on Holiday. Nobody is in to receive the stereo if it does actually show up. I’ve then got yet more hassle of having it fitted and getting Eddie Wright to pay for that and a new backup camera. Just give me the money you already claimed you had sent me and we agreed to. I’ve got plenty evidence of the shear amount of phone calls made and not returned between the company and myself as well as myself to the operations manager Jon. On top of that emails and WhatsApp messages exchanged. At this stage I will now go through the motor ombudsman. If you’re thinking of buying from Eddie Wright please please find a car elsewhere.

Misleading Warranty Bought a car from them 6 weeks ago and needed to use the warranty. The service department called me back to book me in, all going well until I was advised about the £75.00 plus VAT non refundable diagnostic FEE - what! Basically not worth the paper it is written on. Be careful!

Avoid at all costs!!! I purchased a 2015 Q5 2.0 tdi with 60k miles on from these 'dealers' at the beginning of January 2022 and oh wow, what a mistake that turned out to be! We were the perfect customers, we didn't want a trade in, knew what we wanted and paid cash.... that's where it all started to go down hill! We paid for the RAC breakdown cover as we had traveled some distance for the car and we was told that we would be covered as soon as we drove away. We paid for their valet, when we test drove the car we found sweet wrappers in the ash trays, we didn't say anything as we wasn't too concerned as the car would be valeted before we collected. On collection, they were still there and the backs of the seats were stained. We were too excited to stick around so made our point regarding it and left. Within a couple of days the engine management light came on and the car went into limp mode, we got the rac out who said the egr was faulty and wasn't working. It would need replacing. So we phoned the RAC warranty department who quickly said that the fault is likely to be pre-existing as its only been 2 days since we purchased it so they would not warrant it. We had to take it back to eddie wright. We arranged for the eddie wright to collect the car but It wouldn't be for a few days. Between the egr valve fault and them collecting the car it began throwing other faults. We had only covered just over 200 miles yet the oil light flashed up and the mmi was telling us that the oil was empty! I phoned the dealers to question the service that I'd paid for as it couldn't possibly need oil so quickly! They were adamant that the service had happened as they had receipts for it. So anyway, I took it to my local mechanic who filled me up with oil and sent me on my way. That night the led headlight stopped working on one side on the car. I took a photograph of it to send on to eddie wright so they could see the issues. The next day the mmi began playing up and wouldn't play music. A couple of days later and with the oil showing half full eddie wright came to collect the car for investigation. They contacted me a few days later to say it was ready to collect and that the egr had been replaced. I collected the car and the oil was again full. Unfortunately the service manager wasn't at eddie wright's when I arrived so no one could answer the question about the other faults. The next day I set off on holiday to South Wales and then onto Cornwall. Less than 200 miles into the journey and the dpf light came on. I attempted a forced regeneration following the guidance but that didn't work. Stopped the car and turned it off then on just to cancel the light. 100 miles later and the oil light was back!!! Another litre of oil to bring it back to full and off we went. I emailed eddie wright to ask about the faults and the fact that it was using so much oil only to be told it was OK and they would look at it when we get back. Throughout the week it needed another 3 litres of oil! We covered 1200 miles that week and I knew there was something seriously wrong, the regular puff of blue smoke coming from the exhaust strengthened my thoughts along with the dpf light coming on day after day! We returned home on the Sunday and first thing Monday morning we took the car back to eddie wright for them to investigate. During this time I did my own investigations and contacted audi direct to ask about oil consumption. Audi told me that the tolerance on a car like that would be 1/2ltr every 621 miles so the fact this was doing 1 litre every 300-350 miles was saying that it had a serious mechanical fault. A mechanical fault that would only be diagnosed by a full mechanical inspection as its not an electronic fault so won't show any codes. A couple of days later, and with me still being within my legal return period, eddiewright contacted me to say they had found the issue and there was a leaking seal in the turbo. I told them at that point that I wanted a refund as the car was faulty. This is when all the lies started. They phoned me back stating that they had looked online in forums and found that these 2.0ltr engines were prone to oil consumption so there was no fault. Fortunately I'm not green behind the ears and refused this as it was diesel and not petrol. I asked if they had checked with audi on consumption figures and they hadn't so were going to go and speak with them and contact me back. I said that would be great but I still wanted a refund as they had stated the fault was the turbo to which they quickly back paddled saying they couldn't find a fault. They went away and after 2 weeks of me chasing them, they came back stating that audi had told them the oil consumption was right so they are refusing me refund and that I would need to come and collect the car. They stated that as the car was showing no faults, then there were no faults. You can imagine my frustration building!!! I wrote to them, following legal advice, giving them notice that the car had been returned within the 28 days and that I wanted a refund. They ignored every letter and every email, they didn't ring me nor did they return my calls. This was 7 weeks of eddie wright ignoring us. They left me with no alternative option but to contact the bank and begin a dispute as I'd paid by debit card. The day the chargeback landed on their desks , was when all of a sudden they contacted us trying to be all friendly again! They were asking me for the history of what had gone wrong as a previous employee who had been dealing with the case no longer worked there. Fortunately for me I had taken lots of photographs, date stamped, time stamped and with GPS location it was difficult to dispute what I was stating. But they did! They took the car to audi for an independent check but never did the oil consumption test. The result of that was that the the car actually needed 4 new discs & pads and bushes replacing! But still they said the car was not faulty and provided a photograph showing the oil level was full (remember when it was only half full when I returned it...) they claimed to have driven the car for 300 miles testing it and again provided a photograph of the mileage, they didn't think that maybe I had done the same when I returned the car and what they had actually done is put 1000 miles on the clock whilst they've been driving my car around! What a legal battle this turned into!!! All I got my lie after lie. I was promised the earth and all i was delivered was dirt. I even question the mots that they have done as it came back with no advisories yet after 3 weeks and 1200 miles it need new brakes all round and the bushes are done in! 7 months later and after reviewing all the evidence i had gathered in the impeccably strong case that i had put together, Visa have issued a full refund & the car is back up for sale......... A disgusting service, lied to and ignored. Trust me when I say this, if I could give zero stars I would! I would honestly avoid this place at all costs!

I brought a car from them, a 10 year old / 108,000 mile Range Rover, in the words of the salesman, they don’t normal sell cars of this age/mileage, but it is such good condition. The salesman pushes the RAC Platinum warranty, as confirmed by other reviews on here, for "Peace of mind". These cars have a bad reputation for suspension/drivetrain issues, TBH and fair, the warranty helped sell the car because of these known issues. Paid a deposit and Eddie Wright also sorted out some other bits on the car. Came back during the week after work to collect the car, paid the remaining balance, when they put the warranty through on the system, RAC rejected it. So, I ended up buying a more expensive, less covered “Gold” warranty. The salesman showed me the RAC comparison sheet on the two warranties and the bits I was concerned about were still covered. At this point I should have walked away, difficult when car is ready, you have paid/made your mind up and late in the evening. In hindsight this was a little bit odd, considering the Platinum warranty is just for cars under 10 years old and the salesman would have known this 20 months later and only 8,000 miles, the car starts juddering violently on the Motorway. Took¬¬ it to a local Land Rover specialist and the cause identified as front nearside top & bottom arms/ball joints and broken anti rollbar link, all items specifically listed as covered in the warranty. The bill is £400! The garage tried to claim under the “Peace of mind” warranty, the claim got rejected saying these items are just wear and tear, because of the age/mileage of the vehicle and therefore not covered. I complained and they escalated it. The escalation team rejected it for the same reason and in their words, they cannot envisage a situation where ANY claim on this car would be successful and in their view, I have been mis-sold the warranty and need to go back to Eddie Wrights. Basically, any claim they would say “Wear and Tear because of age/mileage” and not covered. Contacted Eddie Wrights to get my money back, and after a serious of missed promises on returning calls / not responding to emails, which added to more stress, finally got the answer from Eddie Wrights, basically not interested, in their view I haven’t been mis-sold a warranty. Laughable they can say this, considering my experience. They did then say any further issues, bring it to them, but I live 45 miles away, the car would be broken and the warranty said local garages I am now £1200 down, worthless warranty, open to large bills in the next 16 months, absolutely no peace of mind and now have the stress and expense of spending years going through the various bodies to get my money back; automotive compliance Ltd, ADR Group, financial Ombudsman, The Motor Ombudsman, FCA, trading standards, small claim courts, etc. I will be getting my money back, just unfortunately need to do it the hard way and people need to know this before buying from this dealer
