Bought a Jaguar from Essex Car Company which developed an engine fault after 1300 miles. ECC collected vehicle and examined it diagnosing a piston ring failure. They offered to repair the fault and provide a 12 warranty or return my money. Given the repair would take at least a month I opted for a refund. The money was transferred to my account the next working day. You can buy with confidence at ECC as if things do go wrong they will not run a mile and deny any liability.

Chris is an amazing salesman that was extremely knowledgeable about cars & helped me to choose the right car, importantly he did not pressure us at all, I'm very happy with the car today he sold me & would recommend his service along with Essex Car Company as the best place to buy a used car.

We purchased a Hyundai ix35, which we had seen on the Essex Car Company website, In all the pictures it looked fine and was priced at £13;980. This was a four year old car, on inspection it had been keyed down the side. Also had several dents, wheels were really scratched bad, fog lamp trim was hanging off. To tell you the truth I was shocked, We spoke to Chris who then said, it’s price reflects its condition. WHAT I said then he replied it’s a lovely car one owner low mileage, in the end they agreed to do most of the damage. But I told the manager I wanted the fog lamp done. He said he would try but couldn’t promise, I trusted him big mistake. They had the car for a week, when we picked it up it had no fuel in it, and the mileage had gone up by almost 150 miles. I couldn’t believe it when we went into the office to finish paperwork, all the other salesmen just gave us bad looks. Unlike when we first went and they wanted the sale, also the low tyre pressure light was still on but was told you have to drive it a few miles before it goes off. Knowing this is usually the case, I proceeded to start the car but guess what it didn’t start. Now they asked us to get to them for 9am, that battery should have been checked. We drove 60 odd miles home, light still on and when we got home my husband lifted the bonnet, and the engine compartment was absolutely filthy. I am going to contact the finance company, and also get the car checked by Hyundai. PLEASE CHECK CARS PROPERLY if buying from this dealership, as all they are worried about is making a sale. Mrs D

From Amir at the Essex Car Company, who helped get me to the centre, to "H" who helped me review my online choices and buy a car that was right for me, and Chris, and the gent who helped me sort out all the other bits, as car dealerships go, it was a good experience. I never enjoy buying cars, but found everyone very helpful without any pressure to buy. It's not easy buying or selling any car, but my experience from this company was good...and thanks to Charlie for collecting me and Amir for organising that, because it wasn't easy for me to get there from where I was. It was a good all round experience. I didn't buy the first car I saw online, but the other car I saw online was just right for me. If you know what you want, this is a good place to come. All my friends have told me I got a good car and a fair deal, and at the end of the day, that is all everyone wants. The car was cleaned after I had bought it. Something most dealers wouldn't bother with. The AA seal of approval also helps. I don't like wasting time looking through car magazines. I like to see the car for real.
Will not be purchasing another car from the Essex Car Company!! 1. agreed a price over the phone, on the day of buying the I was told we couldn't settle at that cost as it was not submitted yet I was told yes over the phone. 2. Asked for them to put a little bit of diesel in the car on the day I collected it just so I could get it home (the petrol gauge was on empty!!) was told yes they would whilst I was filling out the paperwork, then the manager apparently had left with the keys to the cupboard holding the all the fuel, had to drive the car empty to the nearest petrol station to top up, id already part exchanged my car in with half a tank of petrol still in it too!! 3. I've had to call them 4/5 times to get remaining paperwork that I should have been given/sent by now. They make excuses and saying they will send it now yet I am still waiting over a week later!! 4. they stated the car had full service history yet have no proof of it and I've had to ring around to chase all the service history up (also no service book was given to me and now I have to pay £20 to get a new one). 5. my car was not registered for the 12 month warranty I had paid for until a full 4 days after I had purchased it!! AA informed me that this should have been done and given to me on the day I purchased the car!! 6. over a week later and ive just received the AA 128 check report after I persistently called them requesting it, again something I should have received on the day or shortly after. Ive called and explain I am not happy with all this and there only answer is "well get it sent out now" and "ill have a word with the admin team because it took a long time to get to you". TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, LOOK ELSE WHERE!!!

Purchase a Mercedes A class from Essex Car Company with cash on 26th April. the dealer was very happy to take my money quickly. The car had a fault which we notice when we took the car to petrol station from just leaving the dealer. I Reported the fault to the dealer and he said I have to bring car back. I'm based in London. It was the bank holiday weekend so I ask can I use the warranty that I purchase to fix the car. They said yes but when I called they said I will have to pay for diagnostic. Contacted dealer to make them aware. After chasing the dealer he said I have to bring it in and they will give me a courtesy car. I purchased an automatic car but they was trying to give me a manual car. At first he said they gave away the last automatic car. At this point I was livid. Mysteriously they now have a automatic courtesy car. Signing the courtesy insurance it was highlighted that there's an excuse of a £1000 whether you're at fault or not. I straight up refuse to drive the car. Finally we came to a decision they will arrange for someone to collect my car. I made it clear to let me know when his on his way so I can let my partner know, he said he will call me in the morning. He never did, I ended up calling and he says his already on his way. Luckily I wasn't feeling well so I was on my way home. They collected my car and left the courtesy. I called on the next day to see how things was going. He tells me the car is already on it's way back. Lucky again I was at home. They returned my car with no paper work to say what was done and they even left the key for the other car that they had came down in. My car came back with practically no petrol in it and I had to remind the dealer they have to pay for the dartford toil. He confirmed he did but all now I haven't received the confirmation. He said he will send the paper of what was done all now I haven't received anything. I will never buy a car from this dealer.
