Avoid at all costs! Reserved a car to have a look at last Saturday. On the phone to one of the staff member i have said i am looking too use my own bank car finance. The staff member said they will see what they can offer, and i said i won't bother unless they can offer a better than 6.3% APR. Arranged to come in to have a look at the car, an hours drive from where i live, made to wait an extra hour from the appointment time (which can be understandable as its was busy). Went through all the paperwork, looked at my car for part exchange, really devalued the car, given 900£ less of the car value compared to other dealership. Then hours later said that they don't accept 3rd party finance! Tried to convince me to take their finance or i cant have the car, never mentioned over the phone that they can't accept the finance that i was going to use! Also said they don't do 3rd party finance for long time, however i had used Evan Halshaw and 3rd party finance 3 years ago with my current car!! WASTE OF TIME oh and the arrogance of the salesman!! Avoid avoid avoid!

Spent 2 days negotiating a deal on a vehicle was told to call back in morning to put a deposit on the vehicle called back next day was informed it had been sold they could not careless very bad people.

Jules was fantastic, from start to finish. A few days later car picked up. Explained everything we needed to know, although it cost extra, lol, but well worth it.

On 3rd Feb I took my car in for its FIRST service (2 years old) and after 3 hours got called back to collect it. I went to the man at the desk, paid £215 and given an envelope style package with some paper in. There I stood waiting for him to tell me anything for the service about the car and any good or bad information. He didn’t say anything so I asked “Do I need to know anything about the service? Nothing needed doing?”…. he just said “No, it’s all fine”. I replied saying “nothing at all to report? Everything fine?” - again he replies along the lines of “no nothing, its all done”. So there’s me, a young girl feeling silly that I should even ask this. With 4 other colleges standing either side of him all watching me. Later did I find out in that envelope there was information that my tyres needed to be replaced urgently and nothing was said when picking up my car. If I hadn’t of asked him if anything needed doing, then I probably wouldn’t have the right to be angry…. BUT I asked not once… twice …..if there was anything I needed to know or be done. I feel they just wanted me to get out of there… they got my money and wanted to go home. Oh and to top this all off, right at the end he said “you will get links for a review and if you give Ford a 5 Star review you will receive a FREE MOT!” - What a CON! BAD SERVICE DOES NOT EQUAL A 5 STAR REVIEW……. So what happens if I have a bad experience I don’t get a free MOT?

We bought a 4 year old Astra from Evans Halshaw Cardiff. Seen the Car on Autotrader, made a phone call to see if it was still available. Went up to view the car. My wife liked the car (was for her) so we provisionally put a deposit on the car subject to a new mot and valet as the rear seats were stained (and finance being approved). I refused all optional extras, GAP, Warranty and Guard X. a £100 admin fee was added which I explained to the sales rep was not on the auto trader ad. He explained that they cannot get auto trader to show the fee which was applicable to all all cars, however we reluctantly agreed The car only came with one key which I was advised of but pretty poor in my opinion and I made the salesman Rhys aware of this and suggested that we wanted another key made for the car. (This never came through). We received a call approx one hour later after leaving the dealership saying was finance was approved and that the payments were lower than quoted with the Guard X included (Bearing in mind this was £300). I explained to the sales rep "thats fine as long as im not paying for it". Finance Docs came through the next day. Guard X was on the invoice adding £300 to the total. I had to contact Evans Halshaw to get it removed and was put down to wires being crossed. I beg to differ but it was removed anyway. We collected the car the next day. All seemed well until I checked over the car. It hadn't been touched and the rear seats were still stained. The manager came out and the sales rep took the car out back and gave the seats a clean. The manager also put £30 fuel in for the inconvenience. The seats dried with the stain still there and ive since paid a valeter off my own back to bring them up to standard of a low mileage 4 year old car. We have since contacted Evans Halshaw regarding the admin fee as i think its wrong that they charge it despite Auto trader clearly stating this dealer does not charge admin fees. The agreed 5 days ago to refund this but we have yet to receive it. Ive also contacted them regarding no car pass in the service pack and no locking wheel nut key code. They aren't interested and I have been advised via email that its not something Evans Halshaw would look to replace to their standards for any age vehicle. These are both simple things to obtain particularly for a main dealer, great aftercare eh! To put the icing on the cake I managed to contact the previous keeper via facebook who advised that he was charged £170 when he traded in the car as he had lost the main key. He has since also forwarded me the receipt for what he paid. Evans Halshaw deny charging the previous keeper for the missing key. Given my experience with Evans Halshaw Cardiff we would not use them again. We have received far better service from smaller independent garages. If you do buy from here ensure your happy or do not buy as they are very reluctant to do anything after.

I live in Bristol, telephoned Evans Halshaw Cardiff to check the car would be available to view on Saturday, they said it would be available to view that day, travelled all the way from Bristol, got to their garage, the car was not there, spoke to a saleman who said the car had been taken out by another salesman, told if I could wait a few hours they would ask the salesman to return the car to the garage. Hence to say I did not wait. I am amazed that this company is still in business, But the big problem for them is that this branch of Evans Halshaw damages the Evans Halshaw brand. I would never buy a car from any Evans Halshaw Garage after my experience!
