I recently bought a one year old Ford Mondeo from Evans Halshaw in Motherwell and brought it back to Ireland. Within a week or two I discovered the following list of faults: 1. According to the Ford data system there is no P.D.I or service record for this vehicle. 2. Every time I switched on the engine I was instructed to “change the oil ASAP”. 3. The oil was burned pitch black. 4. The brake-fluid was well below minimum. 5. The blower/fan only works on the passenger side. 6. A software update was due before the car was sold but was not done. 7. The trip counter is inaccurate by about 30% so I assume mileage, fuel consumption etc is also. 8. The windscreen washer bottle was empty and left open. 9. The tyre pressure was well below safe driving level. 10. The front drivers side tyre was chipped and quite dangerous and should not have been allowed on the road. These are the faults that I can see, there may be lots more. I had most of them fixed except the fan/blower and the trip counter, which I don’t want anybody to mess with. So far it has cost me €336. I contacted Evans Halshaw several times. They eventually put me in touch with a Mr Adaire. I emailed him a few times, no reply. I eventually informed him that if he didn’t reply I would assume he wasn’t interested, still no reply so I assume he is not interested. If this had not happened to me I would never have believed that such people are involved in the Motor Trade. Needless to say I wish I had never dealt with them.

Short review: Terrible, have a look at the reviews for car dealerships in Motherwell. There's a good reason why Evans Halshaw FordStore Motherwell are among the lowest rated. Long review: My first visit went well enough, I phoned ahead and the they had the car ready to go for a test drive when I arrived. I ended up not purchasing the car at the time but when I was phoned and offered money off the car the following day I decided to go ahead. The agreed upon, on the road, price included 1 year of road tax. The dealer also agreed to touch up a scratch mark on the rear of the car. When I arrived the car was sitting out front and freshly washed, great. I then checked the rear of the car to find that the scratch mark hadn't been touched up. The salesman apologised and said they would get it sorted which is fair enough. On the way to picking up the car I checked the DVLA website for the tax and MOT status. It has been taxed for 6 months rather than a year and it is less than 6 months until the next MOT (Evans Halshaw advertise a minimum of 6 months on all used cars). When I speak to the salesman regarding the MOT he says it may take a few days to update on the DVLA website (2 weeks later and it still hasn't). I then ask about the tax, to then be told the salesman I originally dealt with on my first visit has left the company and left no record of our agreement for 12 months tax. The salesman gets his manager who refuses to honour my original agreement and so I ask for my deposit back. After asking for my deposit multiple times the manager eventually goes back to his office and sends out another manager to issue the refund. This managers attitude was nothing short of appalling and I've never before dealt with someone so unprofessional. There were only 3 things needing done to facilitate this sale; 1 year of tax, fix a minor scratch on the rear and ensure it has at least 6 months until the next MOT. They didn't manage to get a single one of these correct. Evans Halshaw/the owner, need to take a good look at who they are employing here. To sum up; completely incompetent and completely unprofessional. Avoid at all cost.

if im totally honest Evans Halshaw Ford in Motherwell seems like an utter shambles, Bought a vauxhall astra from this branch almost a month ago, they have had it longer than me due to how many times they have tried to fix it, although every time they fix a problem, another one pops up. to start with, when i bought the car, they phoned me on the day I was supposed to pick it up and told me that they couldn't fix the car pulling to the left, so they would need to keep it longer. i needed the car to get to work so i took it and decided to take it back to the branch at a later date to get the problem fixed. The first issue (which i found to be totally stupid) arose when i noticed they gave me a car with broken window wipers, which tells me that the hasn't even been looked at before they've even gave me it, so I drove around for a week only being able to clear half of my window! I took the car back in after waiting a week to get a courtesy car. I got the car back almost a week later, it was still pulling to the left, however not as bad as before. Bare in mind that this was the second time they tried to repair the car. I noticed another problem when I got the car back on the front bumper, looks as if whilst they've been polishing the car, they've touched the plastic with the machine polisher and scraped it. I would also question there polishing skills, as the car is still covered in swirel marks! the car went in for the third time to fix the tracking issue and the front bumper. I went to pick the car up on Friday the 31st of august and the bumper hadn't been fixed. So on the FOURTH attempt, the tracking was a fault with the actual model itself, as they naturally pull to the left, and they STILL haven't fixed my front bumper, it looks the same as before, totally unacceptable! I honestly thought at the very start that this branch seemed to be pretty good, I have had problems with evans halshaw before at the ford edinburgh branch, however I gave them the benefit of the doubt this time. the way this whole situation has been handled is so unprofessional. everything looks like a patch up job, a quick fix, clearly there are no checks done before you get the vehicle, otherwise the problem with the window wiper would have been spotted before. Not everything was bad. Jamie, the salesman who dealt with my transaction was great, but everything else around has just been a complete shambles. Now I am left with a car that pulls to the left, and a front bumper which will definitely go against me when I try to sell the car back as a part exchange. 2 stars, and thats only because Jamie was decent to deal with

I would like to thank the salesman at Evans Halshaw Ford in Motherwell (James Stuart) for the welcome me and my wife received when we purchased our vx Astra 2 litre via Gateshead great service all round thanks.
I booked an appointment through the call centre to test drive a car today in the Evans Halshaw Motherwell Branch at 1.30pm. We were on time, and the rep asked us to take a seat- he would be '2 seconds' while he finished up with a customer on the computer- several minutes later he discussed with us the car we had wanted to test drive, and then went to bring it for us. Eventually ( after another 2 sec- 5 minute wait) he asked us to come out to see the car, and explained that after all we could not test drive the vehicle as it had not been through the workshop, it needed a few things doing to it, parts needed to be ordered which would not arrive - perhaps till the end of the week, but if we wanted to pay a deposit of £200 the car would be reserved for us. Very disappointed as we had driven a significant distance to test drive the car, had been given no indication that we would not be able to drive it, and no attempt was made by the rep to try and resolve the matter - a shrug of the shoulder was as good as we got. He seemed not to know about Zafira heater recall, and whether the work needed to be done, and indeed what other repairs were required. We asked to speak to the manager ( Jamie) who gave us a big long explanation, but was totally unhelpful. We should have been told when we phoned that the vehicle was not ready to be driven-and when we discovered that this could not happen, an offer could have been made to phone us to say that it was ready, or even better an arrangement made to transfer the car to another ( nearer ) branch. All the staff wanted was our £200 - not at all interested in the 'customer experience', I would not recommend anyone to go to Evans Halshaw in Motherwell to buy a car- our conversation with 2 young reps was unhelpful at best, followed up by that of the team leader. It is likely that we would have bought this car, had we been treated differently. Very disappointed.
Last year we purchased a Chevrolet Kalos small car from this branch of Evans Halshaw in Motherwell and paid a deposit of £200 I paid my Carer to take a train up on the Monday to pick up the car.On Saturday Evening I received a phone call from the Engineer/Mechanic to say the engine of the car was a write off and not road worthy.. By this time ticket had been booked and paid for. I asked why was this not diagnosed before as on the previous Wednesday all was fine When pressed to tell the truth the mechanic said it had only been dropped off at their Franchise a few hours ago . Well I asked for a refund of the train fair but was put through to a non existent manager who had left the company 6 months before I was fobbed off or left to hang on eventually they refused to speak or apologize. I wrote to the manager at Motherwell( after the intervention of Evans Halshaw Blackpool) who replied that no Train refund was on the cards and now wait for it because they only received the car hours before and were not responsible. Well they took my deposit and we had to wait 3 weeks to get that back. In are dealing with this via Hamilton County Court. In my opinion very bad not to be trusted dishonest franchise owner. Really happy when I went to Evans Halshaw Ford in Motherwell and purchased my Ford Focus. No problems with it, happy with the car so not too much more I can say about it. Yes I would return and recommend Arnold Clark Ford
