I went in last Wednesday to buy a car, we’d spoken with a sales team member for a week or two about the car, our options and finances and when we finally had it all sorted (this took extra long due to the sales team not returning calls or being cooperative in anyway) the car was damaged (scratches and warning lights). It was Asif we had been given a completely different car to the one we viewed. Unacceptable service I would never come back here.
Bought a van online from these crooks in August. Within ten days, the vehicle developed a major fault. The warranty is third-party, and you’re expected to arrange and find a local dealer willing to work with the warranty company. Most local mechanics refuse to work with insurance and expect you to pay upfront and then get reimbursed. Additionally, the hourly rate covered by the warranty doesn’t match the rates charged by most mechanics, meaning you’ll still end up paying for part of the repairs – even under their standard 3-month warranty. This is why we returned the van to E&H for repairs. It’s now December, and the van has been returned with the same fault three times. In the five months since purchase, I’ve only had use of the van for about three weeks. I’ve now decided I’ve had enough and no longer want the vehicle, as it’s clearly not fit for purpose. However, I’ve been told I’ll be penalised £571 due to mileage driven by my employee in the short time we had the van. Most of that mileage was clocked up driving the van back to their depot – we’ve only driven about 1,000 miles ourselves. The sales lead is always apologetic, but words mean nothing without action. We’ve had to constantly chase for updates, being promised we are a priority, only to hear nothing for weeks unless we initiate contact. When we do, we’re told the sales leader is either on holiday or in a “meeting”. On Fridays, you’ll get an email claiming a staff member is looking into it, but by Monday, that staff member will have no information and say nothing can be done until the sales leader returns. It’s a never-ending cycle of passing the buck. As a result, I’m now vanless and out of pocket. Avoid this company at all costs, especially if you’re a small business owner. Not only will they cost you financially, but they’ll also cause an enormous amount of stress and waste your time – all for what should be a straightforward process of buying a vehicle.

Earlier this year, my partner contacted these regarding a vehicle he had purchased from the dealership in Newport. He explained how the car he'd bought from them had developed serious engine problems and needed a new engine. He contacted Used Car Sales Manager James Chesworth and the dealership several times regarding the matter. He worked a low income job, was reliant on the car to get to his work and was unable to afford to use a bus or taxi in the long term. Our finances also meant paying out of our own pocket to sort the issue was not possible. After several back and forth emails and calls with James Chesworth during which he was very rude and obnoxious, he threatened legal action and James Chesworth and his bosses came up with a measly offer of £500 towards the cost of repair. A legal representative a family member of our engaged advised him to reject this. I was pregnant at the time with our third child, I gave birth two months after his last contact with you. He lost his job as he was unable to get there, struggled to find another and as we now had three children, was unable to sort the car out. It has sat on our driveway for months with the failed engine it developed from faults these lot failed to prove they didn't know about. My partner took his life a few months ago as he couldn't see a way out of the spiral of decline we had gotten in to. His blood is on their hands. I am writing this because every time I look at that car I am reminded of what they have caused. I want an apology and I want the world to know what sort of business Evans Halshaw is and what sort of car dealer James Chesworth is. I will be coming to the dealership every day this week with a journalist, and for longer if need be, until you answer my questions and those they have and issue me a public apology. I very much want to know what you have to say for yourself.

Peter was excellent. Hassle free and even dropped to the train station afterwards. Money appeared in my account the following day.

Jaz was great at explaining all the options available to us and we were happy to go ahead with buying a car from him which we collect Thursday. Many thanks Lee & Gayn
Cowboys! Cowboys! Ordered new car in January, took £1500 deposit, waited months for a car that would never arrive, I was stringed along with excuses, but Vauxhall confirmed the car could not be built. Evans Halshaw kept this from me. They refused to refund deposit. but offered another car which was not accepted. Eventually obtained car from another dealer which they stated they would service etc. However they refused to fit parts which they ordered for me, but quoted over £500 for service. What a rogue company Date of experience: 17 January 2023

Never thought I would buy a car online without first having a test drive! However, Glyn Coghlan made the whole process very easy and it was worth the 115 mile to go and collect the car. Glyn do everything he could to ensure that the car was fit for purpose and I had a very enjoyable drive home. Would highly recommend dealing with Glyn as a fantastic sales representative to deal with.

Very pleased with the purchase of our new Mokka e & all the help David Matthew from Evans Halshaw, Newport did for us. David guided us all the way from ordering our new electric car to actually delivering the car to our home. He was available to help us with any queries, plus answer any questions any time of the day. In other words David couldn’t do enough to help and smooth the purchase of our new car & the part exchange of our car. Plus thank you for all the extra & the lovely thought of the bunch of flowers. Wouldn’t hesitate about purchasing another car from Evans Halshaw Vauxhall Newport. Lynda & David
