Due to failing sight I decided to give up driving, and sell my car. As I had purchased the car from Evans Halshaw Vauxhall Portsmouth it seemed to be a good idea to sell it back to them. I went online, and got a quote which I considered to be very reasonable and so went ahead and booked an appointment. It took a considerable amount of time for them to collect the car, but the worst was that after ringing to ask for updates, my calls were never returned. Finally the car was taken, and I paid an extra £15 for a swift turnaround to get the money into my account. One week, and several phone calls later, I still have received no call back, or any money. If I knew why there was a hold up it wouldn't be so bad, and i believe its very doubtful they will refund the £15. I believe the non existing customer service at Evans Halshaw in Portsmouth is a disgrace.
I'd highly recommend Evans Halshaw Vauxhall in Portsmouth to anyone! You are asked if you need assistance rather than pressured or pursued. The team are all friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Special shout-out to Dan Barlow and Clayton Wylie who were genuinely brilliant today.

I don’t usually write reviews but felt compelled to after the truly dreadful customer service I received at Evans Halshaw Vauxhall in Portsmouth. The manager said “ I’m sorry there are no excuses “. Left waiting for 30 mins whilst one member of staff started to deal with us then got up and said “ my customer has come I will be back “. A 20 min enquiry took 90 mins in the end.
Evans Halshaw Vauxhall Portsmouth were disappointing! Saw a car just what I was looking for paid £200 to “move me closer” Iwas told car would be in Portsmouth within 10 working days. I called after 9 salesperson couldn’t tell me where the car other than not in Portsmouth I was told someone would call back nobody did. I called back the following day again no explanation and no real concern from the sales staff. I requested a refund, this took me over 2 weeks and 3 telephone calls until I finally managed to speak to someone who helped. Unprofessional and as I say disappointing I have since purchased a similar car elsewhere

Travel 140miles for this Astra GTC SRI Auto for sale at Evans Halshaw Portsmouth Vauxhall, we had a few misunderstanding but once we sorted that out, They kept to their word with a new second key, which we had to get coded at our local Vauxhall dealer & pay for, But within a week the money was in our Bank account, Well done Portsmouth top marks, Car is great & will buy again from you guys. Many thanks Meacham
Choose a good car from Evans Halshaw Vauxhall Portsmouth, but no service book. Cam belt needed changing amongst other things. Cam belt done, the other stuff not. The big joke is that they choose not to register the car for 66 days after it being handed over to us. We chased it repeatedly until yesterday when an online confirmation was received from DVLA.
Like previous reviewers have suggested, 1 star is 1 star too many for this place. Went in to ask about one specific used car that they had, none of the salespeople look like they want to help, far more content browsing the internet. Eventually asked again about getting someone to help and the salesman said he couldn't possibly give any information himself as he only dealt with new cars. We were actually there for a new car but a used one caught mum's eye and all we needed was a price for that one before talking about a new one. Was that really too much for him to comprehend? It's not as though I was asking a brain surgeon to consult on an oncology case. He's a car salesman, relatively undemanding work, he just had to look it up on his computer. We have bought a car from this place before and it wasn't a good experience then either, they don't make you feel welcome, rather they make you feel like a hindrance. Really poor customer service at this place. We won't return as their level of service and customer focus is just not good enough in 2018 when there are so many alternatives available. I wouldn't recommend them for new or used cars with the terrible attitude they have towards potential customers.

Lucie Prowse in response to Awful customer service from surly staff
Well, they haven’t improved. Went there today . They just couldn’t care less . Needless to say didn’t buy a car , the whole place is a complete shambles.
Answered an advert on autotrader -rang and made an appointment to view and test drive at 1100 on the same day.Arrived car not on site with a customer as a curtousy car.Mileage advertised as 100, but found to be 1100.Agreed to buy and turned up to collect at agreed time- salesman not there and busy, was told he would be 5 minutes, turned up 40 minutes later.Car had not got fuel in it as agreed it would so salesman then took me to the garage to get some, another waste of my time. Was told second key was locked in key safe and it would be sent on,after a week nothing arrived-garage recontacted they said key was lost- and I now had to take the car back in my own time and cost so a new key could be programmed for the car -no offer of compensation for my time and petrol.I found the experience of dealing with them not a good one and found them dishonest in their attempts to get us to the garage with the car not even present when we had checked and their after sales has been awful so far.I can't wait for my visit on Wednesday as I am already expecting to be messed around again through no fault of my own.
I really wish I could give a unrated review of 0 out of 5. Please I beg you not to go to this dealership you will be wasting your money and time!!! So my partner had brought a car from this dealership back in Feb 2016 (Car came with a service and new MOT, as the car was 3 years old it would have been the first MOT etc). After a week we gave the car a clean and found that all the body work was scratched (it appeared that the dealership had applied some kind of varnish to hide these marks) Anyway a month or so into having the car we started to face some issues. We was trying to find the locking nut for the tyres but it appeared the car did come with one so we went back to the dealership to be told by the salesperson it wasnt his problem and referred us to the service center who said it was the salesperson's issue but eventually handed over a locking nut and charged it back to the dealership. We got the wheels replaced by a very trusted mechanic we use and he showed us how bad the wheels were (they had perished and was beginning to crack due to the Tyre rotting) he advised us that this shouldn't have happened as it wouldn't have passed the MOT or service it recently had. Myself and my partner began to list out the issues we had. We then had a call off vauxhall explaining that our car had to be brought back to the service center as there was a ongoing recall for the handbrake mechanism and it wasnt safe to drive, we took the car down to them and after complete this work they told us the brake pads and disks had been worn down to 99%. I spoke with the VAUXHALL mechanic and he told me that is shouldn't have even left the workshop on the service or MOT, so they offered to fit new brake pads and disks for £380.89 with VAT, I told them that this was not an option as I could get them done for much less than that. So I took the car back to my mechanic and just told him to do the pads, disks and anything else that needed doing. He came back to me £180 later (Pads, disks, fluids, filters etc) and told me he will write me a report as this was not acceptable especially from a well known dealership. So i contacted Vauxhall on Facebook messenger on 25/07/2017 to find out who i can send a complaint to so they gave me the details of a Sales person called Sam Nicholson who was no help what so ever, he told me on numerous occasions that I would be passed to the general manager (David Dawson). I rung up in total of 24 times to the dealership and multiple conversations with Vauxhall over Facebook and had nothing, the service received was terrible. Finally on 06/10/2017 we was contacted by David Dawson, who told me we will not be receiving any help or compensation from vauxhall as we have had the car to long, i explained we have been raising these issues for a very long time and no one is contacting us. He explained all cars get checked and brakes and disks cant be anymore than 70% worn or else they will go into amber, so i asked if they are 69% worn they are classified as red and he confirmed that with a yes. David explained to me we do not have a leg to stand on and he will not be helping us in any way to resolve our issues, I explained I will be contacting trading standards and he didn't event batter an eyelid, his attitude was totally unprofessional. Anyway on 07/10/2017 myself and my partner went to unbeatable car in Portsmouth and explained the issues and told them we were looking for a new car as you do etc. The sales man searched our car and couldn't find it on the system so he spoke with his manager. It turns out Vauxhall had only taken a personal loan out rather than the agreed HP finance. My partner has two witnesses that the sales person explained it was HP finance and not PCP or anything else. We checked the documents and it appears he had taken out a £11,000 loan and debited it to my partners name. So please i urge you dont use vauxhall Portsmouth, you have been warned!!
