Worst experience ever! Had to chase for the V5 and also a replacement lock for the car we purchased as it was broken. Received an abusive text from the salesman (using the 'f' word). Now we are being accused of selling them a broken car - had they bothered to check when we traded in, the car was working perfectly. We travelled 4 hours to go to the garage....we wouldn't have risked that if the car had issues! The after sales is the worst I have ever experienced!

Karen Ritchie in response to Do not buy from here!

Thank you for taking the time to respond....albeit a tad tardy but you have responded so for that I am grateful. I have already given my word that my RCZ had no issues when I traded it in. As explained previously, we had a 4 hour drive to collect the new car so, had it been faulty at that time, we would not have attempted such a journey. Requesting the V5 is to allow me to put my cherished plates on. We are now 6 weeks down the line and still do not have it. I know of several people who have bought new cars during the pandemic, who have received their V5 within a week. Having paid for the new car, I would have expected it to follow as a matter of course. Yes, we did repeatedly call. We were simply seeking clarification that you had sent the relevant paperwork off to DVLA - which we still await confirmation of. Your salesman said the RCZ required a new timing chain (2 weeks after we traded it in. At this time it had already been sold to a new owner. What happened with the car between the time of trade in and pre-sale, only you have that information) however, you are now saying it required a new engine!!!!! I give you my assurance once again that I was not aware of any issue with the car at the time of trade in. We have not received the cheque you refer to......or an apology from George re the contents of his message. I look forward to receipt of both!

Boyd Craig from Formula One Car Centre Limited in response to Do not buy from here!

I apologise for the "tardiness" We have not recognised websites like this in the past due to them charging a premium for us to respond. However I felt compelled to respond to your review given the nature of the events. George did indeed apologise on the telephone to your husband. I was present when he did so and our telephone recordings can verify this if there is any dubiety. He was rather upset given the trust he had put in yourself and your husband regarding your part exchange and emotions got the better of him. I cannot accept your assurances that the vehicle you traded in was free of any mechanical defects; it is just not possible given the problems with it. The vehicle has not left our premises and if you are so sure it is a good vehicle you shall accept my offer to return and refund. I will confirm with the bank in the morning if the cheque has been cashed for the door lock repair on the Evoque and if not cancel it and issue another. Kind regards

Karen in response to Do not buy from here!

Yes, they did actually sent out a new 🔐 And gave us a cheque for the fitting cost at a local garage so they did honour their promise.. .but, it doesn't take away the way the salesman was swearing and rude in his texts.

If you're set on buying a car from here, get it independently inspected, be prepared for horrible after sales service, typical salesman tactics, and bad workmanship. I really should've trusted my gut and the advice of others but excitement (and dream spec m3) got the better of me. Car looked great, seemed well maintained etc. Really smooth and no hiccups during the test drive. However, literally the day I picked it up, I brought it to get petrol and dreaded throttle actuator problem arose. I got the car inspected at an independent specialist. (Found a few minor things apart from the actuators but overall solid car.) No bother I thought, this is why I bought a car from a garage. The reason I didn't buy private is so that if some issue were to arise with the car, the dealership would stand by it. I brought the car back to have the actuators done, all was well and good I thought. I even paid to get the other side done as preventive maintenance. I specifically asked to know how they were going to be fixed. (I was genuinely interested to know if the mechanic would rebuild them.) I was charged but no invoice of work was given. In the meantime, I also requested a sales invoice as I never received one upon collection. It took literally a month of calling up to get this. I was trying to get an aftermarket warranty for the car, but with no sales invoice I couldn't get one. The car lasted 3 months and same problem arose. This time I took it to a specialist who fitted rebuild.org actuators as well as other bits. Parts taken out were clearly from a breakers yard. They were even labelled "front" and "back" on the actuators (wtf) and the units never appeared to be opened. Clearly, this is why I wasn't told how they were fixed! I rang George, the salesman whom I bought the car from. I questioned him on the parts, and he insisted they were refurbished units. He says that he has had cars like this and has had to pay too. Questioned him about the work done and was basically told it's a common problem, tough! Refurb parts shouldn't fail in 3 months!!! Completely denied any liability or anything. Completely unwilling to help out. Surely if the work was legitimately carried out, I'd have a warranty with it. He even told me he'd get the invoice for me (still pending) Messages I sent were completely ignored throughout the process. I had to be very annoying to even get my sales invoice. Overall not worth the hassle. The whole ordeal really left a bitter taste in my mouth. Buy private or from a well-known garage. I'm sure this has been a similar experience for many others. AVOID!

Ellen Telf in response to Terrible workmanship& aftersales service

I totally agree, did the same and car needed £5k repair to gear box within days. Bunch of cowboys who contradicted each other and denied work needed done despite an independent test showing fault. Hope they get karma with the Coronavirus and end up worse off than all the people they have taken advantage of

Went to Formula 1 Camleon to look for replacement 4WD. Nothing suitable but salesman took us up to other garage to see a RAV '4WD '. Confirmed twice that it was 4WD which we needed. Interested in car and price so encouraged to put down ' reserve' of two hundred pound on 2nd Oct. and arranged a test drive. Took mechanic along with ourselves and only to discover that it was only a 2 WD. When we looked for answers from Grant he suddenly had a 'call ' that he needed to answer then off he went! 10 minutes later he was still absent. We went to his office but still continued on his call. He called 2 days later to ask if we were buying the car to which I said no.I asked for our money to be returned. We have called Formula 1 six times since then speaking to Grant and Paul. Tried to get owners name but not forthcoming. Getting the run around telling us it will be sorted that day also saying they have forgotten our name! Now today Grant says he sent us a cheque! Still no sign of it and not holding my breath! Feel that we are being punished for not buying a car! We are lucky that we can wait for Grant to take his time returning our money but I'm sure others will struggle. I cannot honestly recommend this company or salesman as we have spent a lot of wasted time and effort on pursuing Our money when we are struggling like many people to look after elderly relatives and provide reliable transport. Cannot comment on cars only poor service!

Karen in response to Beware and do not leave a' reserve'

We tried getting the owners name too....and they won't give it out. I hope the owners take the time to read the reviews so they can see how their business is being run!

Boyd Craig from Formula One Car Centre Limited in response to Beware and do not leave a' reserve'

I can only apologise that your experience wasn't great. Grant is no longer with the company. We have implemented measures and staff training to better our customers experience. I can see from our records that you did receive your deposit refund.

"The worst used car dealer experience!"

Hopefully if you're reading this you haven't yet bought a car from Formula One Car Supermarket, and you'll now take the time to read all the other 1* reviews and then walk away. I certainly wish I had! I notice at least one of the 5* reviews is from the member of staff who (miss)sold my car! I wonder how many reviews are from friends and family! There's a recurring theme of lies and disinterest, and from my experience this appears to be par for the course. Having discussed my issues at length with three members of staff (Boyd, George and Paul) over the last month, it's clear they're all capable of delivering the same stereotypical used car salesmen clichés without the slightest hint of integrity, and indeed a blatant disregard for consumer rights. Before I was conned into buying my car from them, two concerns I had were brushed off as 'normal' and even more unbelievably what later turned out to be a particularly dangerous fault was described as a 'modification' (I really should have walked away)! When the true nature of these issues became apparent and I reported the matter to them, the response was - "The warranty period on the vehicle has now expired". This was just over 2 months later. If you only do one more thing after reading this review, check the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and don't be fobbed off with their '30 day warranty' claim. My advice (and probably the most sensible thing regardless of where you're buying from) is to take an expert with you and don't believe a single word you're told. You're probably better off paying with a credit card too for some added protection. I didn't when I bought from them as they charged an additional fee for credit cards, but there seems to be some confusion whether they still accept cards or not now since Trading Standards informed me they can't pass those charges on..... I don't know, but again it's worth checking before buying. On that note, the local Falkirk Trading Standards Office is amazing. They've been incredibly helpful both via email and telephone in their guidance with this matter and I would highly recommend you take their phone number with you if for any reason you're still considering buying from them. If you're already having issues or concerns, then you should definitely let them know (email address available from the Trading Standards website). If other 1* reviews and my own email correspondence from them is anything to go by, I would expect a comment by Formula One Car Supermarket in response to this review denying all my claims, blaming me, stating they've treated me wonderfully and claiming the car was actually perfect! I'm making it perfectly clear here that I will gladly amend this review if I receive even the slightness hint of customer service, acknowledgement of their failings in respect of this sale, and that they actually address this matter as they're legally obliged to. They have already been notified of my intention to seek legal redress. This would be an opportunity to put it right.

Bought a focus st from Formula One Car Centre. Worst mistake of my life. Sales process was great and was happy had the car two weeks went on holiday and when I came back the problems started (just inside the 30 days warranty). Engine warning lights rough running etc. Company policy I had to get car recovered fair point I obliged and paid for recovery. Had the car a few days changed sensor and re timed the car. Got it back two days later same problems. Intermittent start failure and fault codes. They arranged recovery and driver damaged the front bumper and exhaust phoned to advise and was told bot to worry it would be fixed. Was advised timing belt and water pump was being replaced. Just over two weeks later and I went to collect the car and the damage repairs were shocking. Manager Paul told me it was under the car and didn't effect the performance or value of the car and offered £30 for petrol for the inconvenience. Not wanting to start arguing I asked him if he was happy with the quality of the repair to which he replied " yes the guy has done a cracking job " at this point I realised I would get no where dealing with him I shook his hand and said thanks for your help. (I was raised with manners) I was fuming at the state of a car which I am expected to pay £9000 for. Three days later the mechanical issues started again. Would not detect the key, keyless entry not working eventually started the car to get engine malfunction lights etc. Contact garage again and this time was offered a courtesy car and car collection in a few days. I thought ok seems fair and then thinking to myself how can i trust this garage to have a third attempt at fixing the problem when they damage the car (quite significantly) the manager will not take any of my calls and they expect the salesman to take the brunt of it. He cannot control the behaviour and standard of the mechanics, recovery driver or even the cheek of the manager to offer £30 it would not even cover the cost of a proper wash after the state of the wash provided by the garage. I have several issues with this car I have touch sensitive lights, rust bubbles on the tailgate, broken fog lamps, damaged exhaust, scuffed bumper, rusted side sills (should have been advised on mot), coolant leak, ripped gear gaiter, fuse box cover ripped, coolant hoses not clipped in as someone has broken the clip, knocking rear suspension, headlight bulbs are different brightness, shuddering brakes(were replaced for me collecting the car when purchased), vacumme leak, insecure induction pipe, faded badges and paintwork, intermittent engine failure, also lots of other niggles with the car and all for £9000 what more can I ask. Looking at the car now just makes me feel sick knowing I have been mugged off. I know used and even new cars have problems sometimes but fix them and everyone is happy. Don't damage the car and not fix it properly offer £30 and then expect a third attempt at repairs. I asked the salesman to pass on the message to the manager that we come to an agreement to either, 1) pay me to get the car fixed independently (I can no longer trust the garage). 2) take the car back and reimburse me. 3) we go to trading standards and the financial ombudsman. I never expected a reply so I had already been in touch with the relevant bodies and had an inspection carried out hence the list of faults. I'm sure the garage will receive correspondence in due course. I think it shocking that they feel it acceptable to sell a car In such a bad condition and just try to ignore the issues. Can't fault the sales process hence giving one star but it's how you resolve problems that makes a reputation and from reading some other reviews it is clear they don't resolve many. Seems the policy is just ignore them and they will fizzle out. Not a chance on this one I'm going the full road with it and I hope that someday they will realise you have to solve problems for them to go away.

Boyd Craig from Formula One Car Centre Limited in response to Terrible quality of cars

Mr Reid has updated his review on the Google page. All issues were resolved and we hope to see him back again in the future.

Willie in response to Terrible quality of cars

I am also having problems with this garage and the salesman lying about the V5, was told that it was requested online on 6th July, waited a few weeks, no V5 phoned DVLA who confirmed that no request had been made, so phoned George the salesperson involved he guaranteed it was done on the 6th July, I said either him or the DVLA were lying - he assured me he was not lying. so waited again for V5 to arrive, come the 29th July I called DVLA again to be told the same thing, they told me the garage would get confirmation when they applied so to ask for a copy, good idea, i email George who then sent me a copy of the online request, and yup guess what date it was requested - 29th July, so you were lying then!!! I have spent the last month since buying this car on the phone to DVLA, garages to try and asertain service history, consumer rights and trading standards, this is not what i expected after buying a car, this is stressing me out. AVOID THIS GARAGE. I hope you get your problem sorted out, and like you I am not going away!
